I've always loved no remorse but this cover made me hear it from a differant angle maybe more contemporary view which gives the song alot more credit itself
@phantomsandman actually "the thing that should not be" is tuned down a fullstep to D, but you are right, there is no need to tune down the guitar to sound heavy. for myself... I own a 7-String guitar :-)
@Epicidity Barnes is in SFU, Corpsegrinder is the current singer for CC. Barnes is the one with uber low growls. Corpsegrinder is the slightly less brutal/guttural one that you can actually understand.

Brutal and honestly better than Metallica's original version, the tone gives a much more profound meaning to the song, the growling is exceptional. It ain't easy to do it on a much slower tempo than what they're accustomed to. The solos are better than Kirk's. I repeat I'm a great fan of Metallica's but anyone who knows how good Cannibal Corpse are shouldn't be surprised. Ace ace ace version! Yeah!

It's ok, but there's just something about standard tuning. Plus, I'm big on learning theory, and tuning down would just fuck me up. But, for deathcore nimrods that play only based on patterns, I guess it works.
*has an eargasm* awesome cover, what makes this song more awesome than normal songs is that it was featured in 8-bit in the original doom series (the chorus lead guitar rhythm), and what makes Cannibal Corpse more awesome is that they cameo in "Ace Ventura" :D I think Jim Carrey likes Cannibal Corpse lol probably why they cameo'd in Ace Ventura
@TheFallen2898 Try listening to it. Load is an amazingly written album, and Reload has some kickass songs as well. St Anger is hard to listen to at first but is really badass once you get into it. As for Death Magnetic, it's arguably the most metal album they've ever made.

The low tuning does give a different tonality to the sound it does sound and feel heavier. But you can't just tune low and have it instantly be good.
