So thx for the like on that video I guess.
fan fiction, awesome! the ending of the anime killed me, how he gets shot, and the older phantom ova's were not anybetter. Does the original visual novel even have a possible happy end? Movie is going to be awesome after so long.
Eric Nesbitt I finished the longer of Ein's route(s) (there are multiple endings with her, happy ones that I've done so far are Southbound ending, and the one the anime follows, Cerulean Sky ending, which can be seen as Ein's true ending) while following the anime as close as possible, and I can say with certainty the original Visual Novel does have happy endings. btw, have you read any of my fanfiction yet? Just curious.
Yeah. have you read the TK manga? It is chocked full of symbolism and foreshadowing, just like this anime is if your paying attention or looking for said foreshadowing. (in above video, Reiji says "This is definitely my last one." then the unknown guy who I think is Roso-whatshisname from the Visual Novel states "Looks like the ending wasn't so pleasing." For those of us who have seen the ending, we know that is was just that. Not spoiling anything, just stating the majority opinion on the ending comment section on TH-cam)
its a very good anime....but there are better code geass, deathnote to name a few i think that a couple things were spoilet because of lack of information....for one how did both eren + reiji survive being shot..he was basically a few feet under and seemd to be blacking out before it showed him washed onshore... also the cal *apparent death scene* where the building blows up makes no sense when shown in real time...if we remember correctly reiji is just outside it when it blows and he shoots 3 guys exiting the building then has a shootout with the car eventually blowing that too but when it goes back to Cals POV she hears the explosion of the house runs towards it and in a very short time (not enough for what happens with reiji) the cops are already there cordoning off the building..... If the actualy times were synced they would have met....plus reiji running off without even atttempting to look for cal with the possibility that she might be alive??? what that piece of her clothes was enough to convince she was dead without seeing a body or blood or anything????? why??? makes no sense i think that these kinds of lame attempts to sum up what happened without actually explaining properly spoils it really
moh J In the original VN, Elen (aka Eren due to a translation error with her name from Elen to Eren) is shot, but not in the heart, the bullet more or less goes in the same area where her previous wound is, and Reiji avoids getting shot by Scythe. Like I said before, its all symbolic, Ein being shot in the heart could mean a number of things, and I guess the writers wanted a way to get Reiji away from the dock and Scythe that would seem logical in his stunned-WTF-have-I-done state of mind. In the original VN, Liz claims that she saw Scythe carrying Ein's corpse onto the boat, which manages to convince Reiji that she is dead, killed by his hand, so the cloth scene with Cal is unfortunately plausible if we take his previous female-friend-dead experience into account. Code Geass and Death Note are both fantastic shows for their genre's (I've seen them both), but I feel as if Phantom is better for its own story due to the tragedy that occurs near-constantly to the main character and others in the show, which the symbolism only emphasizes. I enjoy Tragic stories, and both of the VN's adaptations are definitely tragic. (I'm talking about the OVA and the more well known Phantom Requiem adaptation) I have read other tragic stories, but those don't really hold a candle to Phantom for two main reasons. 1. There is a difference in the quality of a story when comparing a Visual Novel to a Manga, and generally in my experiences, Visual Novels tend to do better when being adapted to a anime. 2. Some of the tragic manga's I have read don't have a anime adaptation or their adaptations don't do the original justice. Examples of the former are Wolf's Guy, and Akumetsu, and Tokyo Ghoul and Berserk are known examples of the later. Therefore, Phantom Requiem is the best that I have come across, and as far as the adaptation goes, its rather well done in terms of sticking to the story line, character actions, and a little bit less well done in terms of characterization up to the 'Cal goes shopping with Reiji' point in the anime. (this is as far as I am atm in the VN.)
@NanohaFateSakura Actually if you didnt know, the manga was based of the game phantom, which is basically an interactive dvd, you chose what you want to do. With the anime they kind of combined every ending from the game together and we got a whole bunch of different things going on. There is a manga out and its produced by nitro but they only have one chapter out right now.
@@RichBoyLivingAgain that's so cool, I can't wait to by one myself. In the novel Ein lives happily after with Zwei, which is the true ending. You guys have a good time as well, sir! 🫡
Everyone says the ending is bad; but real,y, it's the perfect ending. So fitting for the situation and their life style. They couldn't live peacefully with all they had done.
I don't give a shit about the main character having an end but he could have been able to take out inferno at the very least that is what pissed me the hell off I was like what the hell just lazy ass writing.
This was my favorite 21 moment!! I became their fan long before seeing this one, but this one confirmed what I already beleived. This anime was amazing. And I agree with what is said below. Cal and Reiji never had what he had with Elen.
Only thing I hate in this anime is how the fk even Cal turned into loli to harley quinn in 2 years. In the beggining she was my favourite character at the end i hated her.
@WizeDemon Its about a guy who witnesses an assassination and instead of being killed, he has his memory wiped and is then trained to become an assassin himself. The story then develops from that, I dont really want to give much away. I can't explain it well enough to give it justice, but its a good watch, I really enjoyed it personally :)
I feel the same, i have just finished watching it 30 mins ago and i had been hoping for a happy ending. During the end of the series i thought; they deserved to be happy in the end because of the hell that they endured. But it ends up being tragic.
Airus777 lmao I know what you're going through, but it's been a month for me. You'll get through and stop thinking about it every waking hour I promise. Good luck xD
@instantlight12 haha, i agree. she have alot of very sharp invicible vectors (that looks like hands) so she pretty can much cut of lots of pieces at the same time xD all of her race (dicloni-something) have that ability :P
@78dma his assassin name is Zwei, but he has a real name. you will know it after some episodes (if you havent already read the comments because if you have, you probebly know what his real name is :P)
This show is a rough gemstone; it has its blemishes, but it's still a work of art. Its flaws are endearing to me at this point. It becomes more profound the more thought is given to it.
They fly to the side of the gun, because they come out of the side of the gun. They don't propel themselves forwards with that kind of speed lol. I find it pretty hard to believe that the casing could be dispensed from the side of the gun, then somehow change direction and charge directly forward lol.
In the end,Reiji got shot by the guy on the wagon in the back with a silencer, and he let himself die because he'd already fulfilled his promise to Ein. Ein heard the shot, and wanted to show her "true smile" to Reiji before he died. After doing that, she ate one of the petals off the flower shown missing one(which presumably is poisonous) and killed herself.
It was a good anime, a little dry in some spots, but all around good. If you don't mind the total depressing and dark storyline. But I have to say that ending fucked me up once I understood it. I honestly think 75% of people who watched the series didn't fully comprehend what happened at the end. I had to look it up. but once I found out, MIND RAPED!
For me best part was when Reiji shot the kid. There was so much tension and I was sure that he would not do it in the end like it always does yet he still pulled the trigger. A very powerful scene for me.
@ilov3hotsaucexxx thats not correct. Her name is ein at first in both japanese and english. Zwei (Reiji) changes her name to Elen later on in the anime (and the game). You should watch (or play) it! :D
i have a feeling that in the ed wen reiji died it was elen who set it up cause she said shes happy how she is and she doesnt need anymore at the end just bfr reiji was shot but thats my opinion
*spoiler* you can look at it in a more positive light actually for reiji... cal was just tragic period. Anyway for reiji he died in a moment he was at peace, and truly happy...... that's all he could ever ask for after the life of hell he lived. He had killed TONS of people and done things no human could atone for, but in the end he still was happy as he died.... it's sad, but it's one of the best ending he could have in this series.... ein on the otherhand probably broke down and suicides TT_TT
@instantlight12 (SPOLIER AHEAD! :D) There are many changes in the game but i guess that its the very end that you want. They both stand at a big field with many flowers and Elen has her back turned against Reiji. They stand there without any clue on where to go next and Reiji is worried about how to find her past. He finaly asks her on what they should do now, and she replies with "Im satisfied with just being here with you". Directly after she says that, she turns around with a big smile.
Okay first of, Whether the site is reliable or not is not important, a theory is still a theory and as long as it seems logical or trustworthy it doesn't matter where it comes from lol. Secondly, I completely agree with you, I won't try to convince another why "my" theory is the right one;).

One of the first anime i watched and one of my favorite.
best anime i have watched FOR SURE.
I tought tokyo ghoul was good... but this is just amazing
Yeah. have you read the TK manga? It is chocked full of symbolism and foreshadowing, just like this anime is if your paying attention or looking for said foreshadowing. (in above video, Reiji says "This is definitely my last one." then the unknown guy who I think is Roso-whatshisname from the Visual Novel states "Looks like the ending wasn't so pleasing." For those of us who have seen the ending, we know that is was just that. Not spoiling anything, just stating the majority opinion on the ending comment section on TH-cam)
its a very good anime....but there are better
code geass, deathnote to name a few
i think that a couple things were spoilet because of lack of information....for one how did both eren + reiji survive being shot..he was basically a few feet under and seemd to be blacking out before it showed him washed onshore...
also the cal *apparent death scene* where the building blows up makes no sense when shown in real time...if we remember correctly reiji is just outside it when it blows and he shoots 3 guys exiting the building then has a shootout with the car eventually blowing that too
but when it goes back to Cals POV she hears the explosion of the house runs towards it and in a very short time (not enough for what happens with reiji) the cops are already there cordoning off the building.....
If the actualy times were synced they would have met....plus reiji running off without even atttempting to look for cal with the possibility that she might be alive??? what that piece of her clothes was enough to convince she was dead without seeing a body or blood or anything????? why??? makes no sense
i think that these kinds of lame attempts to sum up what happened without actually explaining properly spoils it really
moh J In the original VN, Elen (aka Eren due to a translation error with her name from Elen to Eren) is shot, but not in the heart, the bullet more or less goes in the same area where her previous wound is, and Reiji avoids getting shot by Scythe.
(I'm talking about the OVA and the more well known Phantom Requiem adaptation)
I have read other tragic stories, but those don't really hold a candle to Phantom for two main reasons.
(this is as far as I am atm in the VN.)
darkon frey
Its definatley in my top 10 you need to watch Your lie in april, Attack on Titan and Re-zero they are very good too.
I feel old now this anime is awesome ❤
The end of the video sold it for me!
The Ending was perfect not everyone gets a happy ending
This isn't Garbage Shounen where Pure Evil Villains get redeemed and live like normal people
I named my daughter ein
Think very carefully if you ever teach her how to use guns 😂
@@razvy6949 I plan to teach her actually I own a massive gun collection
@@RichBoyLivingThat's so cool! You better have a Python and a Beretta just like in the show 👍👍
@@razvy6949 I do haha
@@RichBoyLivingAgain that's so cool, I can't wait to by one myself. In the novel Ein lives happily after with Zwei, which is the true ending. You guys have a good time as well, sir! 🫡
Under-rated classic action noir espionage anime about assassins. Must watch for every adult anime fan.
3:53 こんなに美しい言葉、聞いたことない
Everyone says the ending is bad; but real,y, it's the perfect ending. So fitting for the situation and their life style. They couldn't live peacefully with all they had done.
I don't give a shit about the main character having an end but he could have been able to take out inferno at the very least that is what pissed me the hell off I was like what the hell just lazy ass writing.
@@MajesticLawnGnome there's an alternate ending in the visual novel Where's there's a happy ending.
This was my favorite 21 moment!! I became their fan long before seeing this one, but this one confirmed what I already beleived. This anime was amazing. And I agree with what is said below. Cal and Reiji never had what he had with Elen.
aww thats so cute! ive never seen this show before, but thats cute!
wowwwwwwwwww what a scene... i will definitely watch it now ,,,and love REIJIs voice so gentle
This may not be the best but the writing for this story is so good (Same guy that wrote madoka wrote this one)
So did I... multiple times. The entire anime builds up to that ending lol
Only thing I hate in this anime is how the fk even Cal turned into loli to harley quinn in 2 years. In the beggining she was my favourite character at the end i hated her.
Why couldn’t it been a happy ending? They deserve it after being through so many struggles. This hits deep and always make you regret.
Yeah same here, I actually found this while I was looking for a clip of the beginning of ep 12 cos its one of my faves.
his voice is so fantastic
It's so sad...I just want them to see them happy together :
@WizeDemon Its about a guy who witnesses an assassination and instead of being killed, he has his memory wiped and is then trained to become an assassin himself. The story then develops from that, I dont really want to give much away. I can't explain it well enough to give it justice, but its a good watch, I really enjoyed it personally :)
This anime put me into so much denial. Finished 3 days ago, and I feel like my heart exploded.
You guys should read the VN, or read the ending breakdown for the 3 'true ends', it'll make you feel better, maybe.
Ryan Syafoek what anime is this guyz
Phantom: Requiem For the Phantom
Damn lights always blocking the most important plots 😆
this scene makes me cry ;_;
this anime is truly amazing
@instantlight12 haha, i agree. she have alot of very sharp invicible vectors (that looks like hands) so she pretty can much cut of lots of pieces at the same time xD all of her race (dicloni-something) have that ability :P
@78dma his assassin name is Zwei, but he has a real name. you will know it after some episodes (if you havent already read the comments because if you have, you probebly know what his real name is :P)
This show is a rough gemstone; it has its blemishes, but it's still a work of art. Its flaws are endearing to me at this point. It becomes more profound the more thought is given to it.
facts this is the best scene in the anime
Do you think love can bloom even on a battlefield?
Metal gear ?
They fly to the side of the gun, because they come out of the side of the gun. They don't propel themselves forwards with that kind of speed lol. I find it pretty hard to believe that the casing could be dispensed from the side of the gun, then somehow change direction and charge directly forward lol.
Amazing anime. I love it so much.
the scars wouldn't be the only thing i'd be looking at... trololololol
Explain it dude :D
What happened?
@78dma Zwei is his name given to him after being brainwashed to be an assassin... His real name is Reiji...
@instantlight12 no problem :) but you can also get really really sad endings, or possibly get together with either Cal or even Claudia :P
In my world Phantom is one of the best i have seen or even maybe the best tough choice. but that is only my view. :)
The music. I love it
Anime like this would’ve been a boon but all we got is the isekai boom
THIS without hesiting
@MohzZy her eyes changes just like zwei when they switch between badass and normal mode
Also, I watched Canaan last week and there are many similarities there as well (female amnesiac super assassins & all that).
The voice actor of canaan is Cal,and alphard voice is shiki from kara no kyoukai!
peaple must show the worl how good this anime is
@instantlight12 it doesnt just tear you apart, it also crushes your heart :(
lol this scene had me a little teary-eyed and then i read this comment and i laughed. lol! XD
i have a feeling that in the ed wen reiji died it was elen who set it up cause she said shes happy how she is and she doesnt need anymore at the end just bfr reiji was shot
but thats my opinion
LOL, at 0:46 Ein goes off to the side and pops out from the back :) I love this anime!
O my god, I never realized how much they
*spoiler* you can look at it in a more positive light actually for reiji... cal was just tragic period.
Thumb is such a mood
I love DTB, but I've never seen this show. Time to check it out.
i love this show
damn i am literally in tears
@78dma Nickname given by Scythe Master is Zwei, real name is Azuma Reiji
玲二くっそイケメンだよなあ
The one anime with a really good ending...
after so many years i'm still so annoyed with the ending
Most underrated anime.
the funny thing about knives is they don't really block much if there even are any knife on knife fights
"Been a long time 'comrade'..." Oh...wrong franchise
This is Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom.
2nd anime that gave me Waves of feelings the first was clannad
Okay first of, Whether the site is reliable or not is not important, a theory is still a theory and as long as it seems logical or trustworthy it doesn't matter where it comes from lol. Secondly, I completely agree with you, I won't try to convince another why "my" theory is the right one;).
