    Besides this brother being a wonderful song leader, I really enjoy the end of the song when the preacher walks up to the podium with that smile on his face. We can imagine what’s going through his mind

    I can listen to Mr. Williams and the Harlem Chuch of Christ singing this song and it always puts a smile on my face and makes me realize the great sacrafice Christ gave. We should sing this song before communion

    Thank you thank you thank you. For those of us far far away from good church singin, this is a revival. What do you say about streaming your entire church service? Then those of us out here in Arizona could sit in for the whole thing. I may have to fly out to Harlem just to come see you all! This is marvelous. Some of the most moving singing I've had in a long long time!

    "Speaking one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord" (Eph 5:19). The word "psalm" is a noun, not a verb. The usual meaning is: "A song, usually accompanied by stringed instruments. " In the passage itself is found the command: "Sing, and make melody with the heart..." The Word "psallontes, " a derivative of "psallo." This word is defined thus by Thayer. "To cause to vibrate by touching, to twang." The instrument is clearly stated by the Lord Himself: the HEART! When we sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, the heartstrings become the instrument of praise to the God of heaven. -Clem Thurman. This explains it well. A command by God to use ONLY your voice (vocal cords to pluck or twang). It's the only instrument authorized by God to Christians (Jews & gentiles) who obeys The Gospel. Once you start ADDING clapping, then you want to stump, next, you'll think well, since we doing that might as well use mechanical instruments to ADD to our Only way God approves. You know when you start adding to God's word and commandments, you doing your way, man-made doctrine.

      First, I agree with your mode of reasoning. Many of those that have argued against you do not read scripture, but rather pull from their own minds. However, there are a few points you make that I question. First, speaking is not singing. The writer in Ephesians 5:19 denotes that we should SPEAK to one another in psalms. How then can you say we should be singing them? Singing and making melody with your heart is something that is done on the inside. Heart does not equal voice. No where does the writer instruct us on how to praise outwardly (singing, clapping, instruments, etc.), only how to do it in the heart (making melodies with your heart).

    He's adding noise by clapping & hitting his hand on podium. It's not authorized by God in True worship. The might as well use drums & cymbals, etc. God wants the fruit of our lips & nothing more.. Also appear to becoming a show of entertainment to one another causing some to not keep their focus on God. Please stop & worship in spirit & truth. It's not commanded for us to clap, stomp, beat on anything when Singing to our Lord God.

      +Michael Collins I stand to differ my Brother. The Word says to praise Him (God, YUD-HEH-VAV-HEH YAHSHUA HAMASHIACH) with dance, flute, clapping, tambourine, stringed instruments, stomping, drums, singing, etc. Basically, anything you have to praise Him with, in any way you can.

      Was David's feet making noises as he danced for the Lord....?

    • @chosenprotection
      @chosenprotection 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      David's feet were dancing, moving to music played live by musicians. You have to familiarize yourself with the Hebrew culture.

      David wasn't a Christian. Please, rightly divide the Word of God (2Tim2:15). So many people use David's dancing but can't find in N.T. where Christ authorized it or find early church practicing using (mechanical) instrumental sounds other than the cords (vocal) of the voice. Christ's church were given new commandments & made up of Jews & gentiles that followed Only the teachings of Christ. We follow Christ new testament. But it is said that some (in Christ) will fall away to go their own way & practice what was given by men to appease their own hearts or feelings (paraphrasing) thinking God hears them or pleased with their worship. Not so, my friend.

      I know that you included scripture later in this thread, but I think it may have been helpful to include them here. Also, is what you are saying coming from a position of love and the desire to save souls, or from an observation that you feel needs to be addressed. Just wondering... Unbelievers need to be rebuked gently. In fact, according to the word, we all need to be. Jesus came to fulfill the law, so many things of the Old Testament were not completely abolished. We also have to be extremely careful about not creating a new law. Many souls have been lost this way. We, of course, need to make others aware of what the Bible says, but for Coc-ers, the problem is sometimes not WHAT was said, but HOW it is said. The Bible must be taken as a whole and not always literally. Scripture must be cross referenced. If you look at the NT, much of what is said references the OT and even states that what is happening is to fulfill a prophecy or confirm what has happened previously. As I close, please understand that I am in no way wanting to be contentious or argumentative. I come to you in the spirit of love and pray that my words to you have been pleasing to God. Continue to walk with Christ. May God bless you today.
