Firaq Gorakhpuri rode as a colossus on India’s literary scene throughout the twentieth century, along with Faiz Ahmad Faiz in Pakistan. He is best known for introducing an element of earthiness to Urdu love poetry where the lovers become living human beings, instead of being shadowy metaphors.
Prof. Shamim Hanfi, one of the most prominent literary critics in the subcontinent and Dipa Singh Bagai is a writer and presenter in Urdu, Hindi and English.
Jashn-e-Rekhta is a unique festival, held annually in Delhi, which celebrates the spirit of Urdu language, literature and culture. Spread over three days, the festival hosts distinguished poets, authors, scholars and artists from the subcontinent and beyond.

My words!his immediate neighborhood was embellished by such a scintillating galaxy of glorious kaayasth literary luminaries like Mahadevi verma ji, Ramkumar verma ji, the great historian Ishwari prasad srivastava ji, and firaaq himself was a kayasth while munshi premchand ( srivastava) was his main source of inspiration, so proud of being a kayasth and inheritors of such gems of hindi, urdu and English literature.

Firaq Saab had Four and not three children. Archana, Govind, Prema n Pushpa.
He has referred to all three of them except Prema, who was part of Firaq Saab's centenary celebrations too.
