I love this song. It's one of many MANY songs by Nanci Griffith that I love so much. Great to see a live version. She will always be one of my favorite singers.
One of my all time favorites. Lovely to see her so vibrant, young and genuinely enjoying herself in her beloved Ireland. Where she was a national favorite and number one on the charts with "From a distance". Also I notice that this is before she had her Taylor guitar that was especially designed and crafted for her. I heard Pete Kennedy talk about her guitar on his YT channel.
She played Guild guitars for much of the 80s, and she is pictured with one on the cover of Last of the True Believers. They were very popular with singer-songwriters then, not just in country.
I don’t know. It was a sessions programme like “Transatlantic Sessions” so I would imagine players from other artists/bands provided backing etc. I think Fran Breen is on drums. Sorry I can’t be more help.
Wow. Loved the song.Nancy . I loved her singing.

With Mary Black on back-up vocals!
My young days in Austin.
Saw her many times live.
They both look very happy
My two favorites, love them both,
Who is in the band? I can see it's Phillip Donnelly on lead guitar and Garvan Gallagher on bass, with Mary Black singing harmony vocals, but who else?
I don’t know.

Mary Black singing backup ?
Looks very much like Mary Black doing backing vocals probably not but uncannily like her.
I do believe it is her. So you probably are right. Well spotted.
