That was from a show called "Hee Haw" that was on weekly in the 1970's and 80's. My grandparents watched it religiosly, I was too young to appreciate how talented the musicians on that show were at the time, but I do now. Roy Clark was a master of the Banjo, fiddle, and guitar, he is missed. RIP Roy! Great reaction! Music brings people together!
This is from the tv show, "Hee Haw." It was on for over 25 yrs. We were treated to this kind of stuff all the time. I LOVED watching Hee Haw! Comedy, Music & great singers each week. If l see episodes are on TV, l tape them & watch it later. It's still a great show & l still laugh at the corny jokes. More now than l did back then. I bet if you watched a show, you'd love it too!
Remember when we could all laugh and have fun? Nobody got offended over a certain look or comment!!! No agendas being forced down our throats! I am so fortunate to be 65 years old and have all these wonderful memories! Thanks for sharing and your appreciation of days gone by! Well done young man! 🤠🤠🤠
One of the passages the Roy Clark played sounded like a quote from a Bach piece to me! Roy Clark was not only a great performer, he was a great comedian too!
This is a clip from a TV show called Hee Haw, that my family would watch every night after the news. Lots of laughs in the cornfield, banjo picking, Special guest singers, and Grandpa Jones always told us what was for Supper! : )😊
Great reaction. Roy always had a fair amount of humor mixed in his performances. Yet at the same time backed up with amazing musical skill. I always love seeing reactions to Roy and hope you do some more.
Hee Haw was the best music variety show every to grace the airwaves. You can't find a show that was just.... FUN... I grew up watching it, I love it, I miss it.
This is from Hee Haw, a country music variety show that Roy Clark hosted for about 20 years. Buck Trent was a regular and they had most every country music artists of the time on it. Great reaction.
In the early years of this show, they had a banjo player called "Stringbean". He played a style of banjo called "claw hammer". You should see that as well.
The dueling banjos was used in a scene in a movie called “Deliverance” in the early 70’s. It’s a classic if you’ve never seen it you should check it out.
React to: Roy Clark playing the guitar, the man was a beast on it, he can play several instruments, also react to: thank God and Greyhound, 🩵🩵🩵 this song
Some people may be asking if Roy was just "good" on the banjo . Well, he was good enough to tour with Buck Trent and stand with him every step of the way on the banjo. Buck is a 2023 inductee in the Banjo HOF and was the inventor of the electric banjo.
Great reaction! If you want to hear the banjo almost literally talk check out Raymond Fairchild doing Woah Mule Woah. He was a world champion banjo picker. I met him several times growing up. He would perform nightly in a tourist spot of the time called Maggie Valley North Carolina. They would perform bluegrass, country, gospel and comedy routines. It's a shame that places like this have died out. Younger generations miss out on so much culture
The Song "Dueling Banjos" was from the movie "Deliverance" from 1973. It actually reached number 3 on the charts.... i forget who played it in the movie......
As a boy growing up in the early 70s I never watched Hee Haw because I considered it corny. Now I look back at these old videos and realize that the show had really superb musicians.
Let’s count on one hand how many musicians in history are considered Elite on 4 instruments. Roy Clark had talent on loan from God. No other explanation.
Can you stand it?❤ Nothing today is comparative to the entertainment that we grew up with! A little bit of today's qualifies under talent but most of it is just alot of multiple effects crazily compiled/scrambled together, to keep busy a society of minds that have the attention spans of a chicken! 😢 This was real entertainment and talent.
Roy Clark was definitely one of if not the best to ever pick up a banjo! Also on a acoustic guitar. Supposedly Jimmi Hendrix was asked what is was like to be the best guitar player in the world? He said I don't know ask Roy Clark LOL
Ahhh, Hee Haw! Kind of a goofy show, but funny in its own right and some damn fine music. Roy played guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and probably others, he was incredibly talented. He died in 2018 I think at 83. You should check out some other videos for his guitar work. "Malaguena" comes to mind, look for a video where he does it on acoustic. Oh! And "Yesterday When I Was Young" - might make you tear up! He also had a beautiful singing voice. Great reaction, wasn't expecting that early on a Sunday morning but I really enjoyed it. Hope to see more Roy Clark from you ✌️💜
Got to give respect to you Roy Clark is the goat at every instrument he plays if you like him you should check out Bela fleck and the flecktones they are fire
To see Roy go from singing, to banjo, to both classical and country violin, then play Malaguena on the guitar, check out the video titled: 'Roy Clark can play any Genre'. It's clips from an old TV show called the Odd Couple and Roy was the guest star.
This was on the TV show Hee Haw where you can see the most impressive talent, humour, fun, laughter and hilarious show ever. Please watch a few episodes and you will see what I mean. It'll knock your socks off.
Buck Trent was an immensely talented player, but Roy Clark (orange shirt)? Roy was a MASTER. You could have put strings on a dog turd, and that man could have made it sing without breaking a sweat. You should check out some of his other videos.
Two of the best banjo players ever, and lifelong friends.
Steve Martin
Roy Clark plays umpteen different instruments!!! He's a ninja musician. Hahaha

Definately som J. S. Bach. Those old country comedians were great musicians.
Loved Hee-Haw as a kid! They’re invited to the cook out, for sure!

Buck Trent was Porter Waggoner's electric banjo player.

Such a great performance! I'm so glad this music is still being discovered 💖🦋
3:15 that trick with the tuners is a phrase from an Earl Scruggs tune called "Flint Hill Special". Look it up, it's another banjo classic.
I think this happened in the 50's (maybe it was 60's) and I saw it later. I am still impressed. Peace, Love!!
The Song "Dueling Banjos" was from the movie "Deliverance" from 1973. It actually reached number 3 on the charts.... i forget who played it in the movie......

If I remember correctly, Roy Clark couldn't read music. Amazing talent.

Word of advice, if you’re in the back woods and hear this. Run dude. Watch the movie Deliverance to understand fully.

Roy was a Grandmaster
Banjo is the only musical instrument invented in America.
Roy could play the fiddle as well as the guitar and banjo
Check out this video... Roy Clark and Jimmy Henley - "Orange Blossom Special"
Buck Trent was an immensely talented player, but Roy Clark (orange shirt)? Roy was a MASTER. You could have put strings on a dog turd, and that man could have made it sing without breaking a sweat. You should check out some of his other videos.
Earl Scruggs was the best banjo player. Check out Flatt and Scruggs song Pearl. Very funny
