Not only did Harrison Ford insist on Alden’s, he insisted the Raiders production team purchase them from the man he used to buy them from during his days as a carpenter because that gentleman used to give him a break on his work boots. He wanted to pay him back.

Interesting to see how poorly the insole had held up. Weston of Rose Anvil had questioned why such a pricey boot uses split leather for the sole and your restoration work seems to confirm that it's a poor choice of material by Alden.
    Great video!

Alden boots are great but I’ve heard they’ve started cutting corners, I have an older pair of 405’s from about 5 years ago with the leather lining, I like them, there’s a few QC issues that I noticed when I got them but I know they’re handmade so small imperfections are expected. Most of these little issues are no longer noticeable with wear anyways. Thanks for the video these turned out great.

That was a great iconic resole on the Indy boots. Glad others heard the crackling, thought it was darn sinus congestion in my ears. You guys inspired me to do a color and conditioning make over on my almost 20 year old Redwing boots. The burgundy came out terrific and they're soft and pliable again. Thanks for sharing the tips. That Saddle Soap is excellent

As a tracker and someone who grew up wearing boots I would definitely know if one side had more cork. I absolutely despise it when I get a pebble stuck in my boot. Yes, even with safety boots. As a kid I could run across dry leaves and not make a sound, even today I'm told I should put bells on my footwear.

As I understand it, all granular cork is a by-product of the wine bottle cork industry. Full sheets of cork (bard) is made into wine stoppers. The rest is sold, ground up and mixed with all the sticky stuff. Just ask Birkenstock.

Tom Selleck actually filmed several scenes for IJ for auditions... he would have been cast except CBS wouldn't let him out of his Magnum PI contract to do it. It sorta killed him to know that Spielberg and Ford were in Hawaii filming some of the opening scenes for ROTLA while he was also there filming Magnum PI. As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tom, I just don't think he could have done as good a job as Harrison Ford did in these movies.

This way there won't be any need to redo the sewing in future repairs. I've also notice that the thread wears out very quickly under the rubber sole.

I want to clean them but have no idea where to start.
