Blue can have same meaning in English but it is an older term not commonly used anymore. Also we found there are a few terms like photostat used for photo copy but nowadays it would only be people of the baby boomer generation who would use the term photostat but it’s still the name for photocopy in Malaysia. Interesting that some disused English words are still common terms.
Spender/Sependa is not actually a direct loanword from English. It's an acronym from the phrase Seluar Pendek Dalam (SEPENDA) which means "Short Inner Pants"
Hahaha ... really enjoyed this one. By the way, if you are learning German you will discover that we also have some English words used completely differently than in English :-)
@@sierralisse8897 The ones that readily come to mind are: - Handy (which in German refers to a mobile phone) - Oldtimer (which in German refers to a vintage car) - Smoking (which in German refers to a dinner jacket) - Public Viewing (which in German describes an event when you watch e.g. a sport event together with a crowd of people outside on a big public screen) Just some examples, I'm sure there are more (probably also a lot I'm not even aware of :-))
Hi Sierra, sometime i called the home clenaing service come to help cleaning my house. But most of the workers speak malay and dont understand english very well. Could you make a video to teach how to speak to them in a simple and polite way. Thanks a lot for your videos.
Hello! I'm actually just about to record a lesson on emotions part 2, so some of these words my intersect. But if they don't I'll make another video for it. Thank you for the suggestion! It's a good one :)))

Rubber is also used in Britian to mean eraser. In fact, I don't know any Brit who would say eraser...
Your channel and videos are very useful. Thank you
