    Had a Sub-Zero in the house we bought, it lasted 20+ years longer, when it came time to replace we bought a Thermador and it was problem-free for 3 years until the ice maker failed. But surprise, it was relatively easy to replace the ice maker. Bought the parts from Thermador and was pleased that for a relatively expensive appliance, it was not that difficult to figure out.

    I've been a French Door kind of guy for the last 20 yrs, but lately a side by side set up has started to make more sense to me.

      As long as you rarely store large platters or trays that's OK. Side by side offers better access to freezer items.

    Go with Sub Zero. Saying that, how long will you stay in the house? Over five years, great. If less, get a cheap size by size with a stainless steel front and that will satisfy the MAJORITY of home buyers. Most don't know the difference. Have the evaporator coils cleaned on an annual basis especially of you have pets or live in a dusty desert climate like do. Don't buy Sub Zero, Wolf, Cove, Miele appliances for homes valued under a million dollars. Only use these appliance brands in neighborhoods that would most likely have similar high end appliances and only if the resale comps support it. Home buyers in lower priced neighborhoods are more familiar with the appliances sold at Home Depot or other big box stores. Sub Zero needs to do a major rethink on their interior lighting. The top down illumination is insufficient compared to the competition. Was a bit surprised recently seeing Sub Zero, Wolf appliances in a home in London of all places. Did not realize that they sell internationally now.

      Ive had kitchaid products before they were very good. Any of these appliances can give you problems even Subzero and Thermador. Ive been looking for a built in 48" fridge the subzero dealer said hes had a new unit down for 6 weeks cant get parts

    Great reviews. Funny thing is most people hear the price of subzero and cringe. Thermador over all is a better price and in some ways builds a better fridge at a much better price point. If you decline installation you lose all promotions with subzero.

    At this point, I really don't care about what gizmos/gimmicks the refrigerator has, I just one that doesn't need to be serviced every 4 months.... I don't understand how these companies are allowed to get away with intentionally designed operational flaws in refrigerators as they all seem to be junk nowadays. I'm looking at these two "expensive" companies as I have no more faith in the big box store refrigerator companies.

    Thanks! Clear presentation, as always.
    Where is the compressor located on the Thermador units you discussed? I thought a big pro for Sub-Zero is the compressor on top. If Thermador keeps it on the bottom, does it push all the shelves up?

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, Thermador is located under the unit, raising the shelving to the top of the unit.

    Please consider reviewing the new dishwasher in the Wolf/Subzero lineup. I'm curious as to how it measures up.

      I'm sure we will. Cove has been in and out of production as of late so once things settle I'm sure we will review.

    You could have the GREATEST BRAND IN THE WORLD, however when you add ice & water in the door those ratings plummet , those items cause the higher repair items I will not buy external ice,water
    Sure they AREconvient. But at what price Or piece of mind ? 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    What about fiskel built in in comparison?

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fisher & Paykel makes great refrigeration and have some unique sizes available as well. They do make Integrated columns now that are a little smaller capacity in comparison but they are quite efficient and overall perform well.

    Sub Zero all the way. You can pay a premium for sure. But overall quality and build is better with Sub.

    any chance that sub-zero will go with a full stainless interior column that isn't the pro model?

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The new models coming out in 2023 have updated trims on the interior which include stainless steel accents. So a full stainless interior will not be in the work for some time.

    How does true rank on this list? I’m looking at true sub zero and thermador

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We love True products. They are pricey but well worth the investment if it's the right fit for you. Sub-Zero makes amazing refrigeration as well. In this comparison I would safely remove Thermador for the process. They make good refrigeration but the other two make a superior product in terms of food preservation and longevity.

    Seems like everyone who sells refrigertors say sub zero are the best. You guys must make more money on Sub Zero!!! Well, I have one that is 5 years old and the temperature of the fridge varies with the shelf 42-45 f on the top, 32-34 on the bottom. Sub zero says that is normal, a 7 degree difference. Really, they don't advertise that big of swing. Various videos say 1 degree-I say, BS; you should measure it for yourself before making a marketing video on youtube. Using data logging thermometers I found the top shelves' Temperature varies widely going as high as 46 F on the top shelf-yikes is right. I think they have an engineering problem.. At the very least, they should say, don't store perible foods on the top shelves as you might get food poisoning. My advice, do your own research! Then tell us what is really the best.....

      @@YaleAppliance1 Happy to. 5 year old classic side by side sub zero. Had mold issue a few weeks ago, cleaned refrigerator and bought data logging thermometers (thought i might have a temperature problem) and placed one on top shelf and one on bottom shelf. Fridge set temp was 34F. Found Temp on top shelf went up to 45-47 F at night while lowest shelf was 31-35 F. Placed bottle of water on top shelf and also checked it with an instant read thermometer - temps were onlly 0.2 degree F different from the thermometer reading right beside it. Now have weeks of data. Sub zero said this is normal and I should expect the same on a new sub zero classic. I am going with a different brand. I wanted to love my sub zero, but unsafe food temperatures on top shelf and wide variability in temperature are concerning to me, as a PhD microbiologist. Also of interest is that their web site states these refrigerators have only 1 degree variability from the set temperature - their technical people say they can not guarentee that (they say 7 degree variability is normal-I found more than that). Apparently marketing is ahead of themselves!! As an aside, by 10 year old Samsung free standing refrigerator has excellent temperature control throughout refrigerator section-if set at 36 f, every shelf temp measures 36 F. I think people making video on refrigerators should take the time to plug in a representative sample and place data logging thermometers inside and test the temperature variability to confirm marking claims. The main point of a refrigerator is to keep found at safe temperature and if that isn't the case on each shelf of the refrigerator, then that is unacceptable.
