3:45 If I'm Kirk cousins I'm pissed but I got 100 million reasons to feel better.
If they wanted a veteran bridge QB to mentor Penix Id get flacco for cheap.

Maybe I'd be pissed if I was Penix - stuck on a rookie contract, can't start, and will hardly get any practice reps

@@unlimitedpower978 When you're already as old as Jordan Love. He'll 'ideally' for the falcons, be a starter when he's 28 years old, and a year from his fifth year option

Pumped for JJ to Minnesota. I was hoping they took him over mortgaging the future for Maye

You should be. Harbaugh has never been a big fan of playing QB's as freshman, but J.J. played in 11 games in 2021. I knew back then that Michigan was going to be a serious problem for the next few years especially in 2023. Jimmy finally had an Alpha who could make clutch plays in crucial moments. It's about to be on and "poppin" in Minnesota.

As an Atlanta fan, going QB at 8 was the worst draft night feeling since the Atlanta Hawks took Trae Young over Doncic lol.

    • @Selling-McCarthyism
      @Selling-McCarthyism 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Nah. Yall took Doncic but traded him for Young. That would be like taking Dallas Turner and the Vikings pick Michael Penix with their 2nd 1st and then the 2 teams swap players

Booney and Jeremian Sirles on the OL Committee (great channel, ppl should check it out) made the point, contrary to JT, that Penix has got to be pissed, too. You draft a guy #8 and the first thing you say to him as he gets off the plane is "You're not competing for the starting job. Here's a clipboard, don't drop it for two years." He can't be thrilled.

I love Kirk Cousins and doubt that he is upset over the pick but if he is pissed, he only has to look in the mirror. He was the unequivocal starter in Minnesota for 6 years and had a 1-2 playoff record with the Vikes. To be upset with the Falcons for drafting insurance at the quarterback position, given Kirk's injury and age, would be a child-like reaction. JT might be pissed if he was in the same situation but he had 8 career starts in the NFL and threw 11 interceptions - not the guy I'm taking my cues from.

11:05 | what’s crazy is how much the league has changed. While yeah Aaron was taken in the late 20s… he was the 2nd QB taken in that draft.
Fast forward the Jordan Love pick… even in the late 20s he was the 4th QB taken in that draft.
Now Atlanta took the 4th QB in this years draft at 8… while out of the box and all that no one is contextualizing it regardless of what people think of the choice.

After further thinking about that Atlanta Penix Jr pick at 8 its really Insurance at QB. Where I worked my Manager had an Achilles tear 2 years later he was still in a soft cast when he decided to retire. Those injuries are not like the ACL tears. I think it really depends on the person. Everyone is different but that Achilles is harder than people think to come back from.

Having spent the last 3 yrs watching Zach Wilson, I wanna know if each of these guys can throw a slant and a screen. You can have the long splash plays. Make sure the dude can throw slants and screens before checking for the good stuf.

I don't get how Washington is a tough destination. McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Luke McCaffrey, Zach Ertz, Ben Sinnott, Brian Robinson Jr., Austin Ekeler. That sounds pretty good to me! The O-line will be better as well. Why can't Jayden pull a C.J. Stroud? Nobody thought Houston would be any good last year.

  • @geraldtn3175

In short: They gave franchise QB money to a guy they intended to use as a bridge QB.
Then, they drafted a guy they will use as a developmental QB in a spot where you should draft your play-now franchise QB.
Basically, horrible value everywhere. Good job Falcons

Odunze is arguably most complete receiver in this class. Checks all the boxes: route running technician/understands route tree, uses frame well, great hands, is fast, tall etc. Not very many things dude is not good at. Bears got a great one with this pick

100 million reasons (guaranteed) why Kaptin Kirk ain’t mad at all. He may of had a moment, but the professional he is way above all of this stuff you and everyone in here is saying. I’m a Falcons season ticket holder btw. I was just as shocked but I can make plenty of arguments for how this makes sense…

This Falcons situation is IMO different from the two Packers situations w/ Favre, Rodgers, and Love.
In both scenarios, the Packers had good reason to look to the future. Favre was oscillating on retirement, had a rough couple years with growing interception #s, and Packers management were smart to look ahead and presume that they were nearing the end of the runway.
With Rodgers, I think it's fair to speculate that he was kind of a bit of a cancer in terms of his personality and general disgruntledness. I think the organization was just ready to move on, esp when you get to the dollars and cents of having to pay him a huge contract just for you and him to be miserable together.
Both of these, IMO, are substantively different from Cousins/Penix.

  • @harrypotter5946

Penix makes sense imo for Falcons for several reasons:
    - Kirk signed multi year deal, but is old and just tore his Achilles.
    - Projected 2025 QB draft class is deep. But Falcons may lose 2025 1st rd pick for tampering and signing Kirk
    - Falcons don't expect to be this high in the draft for years with the roster they have
They got their QB of future now who will hopefully sit behind Kirk and in a yr or 2 be a solid franchise QB

If kirk sucks cause he's injured, they will draft this high again. This roster is basically unchanged from the roster that picked 8th overall three times in a row lol

    • @JaRW7
      @JaRW7 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yep. I bet the Jets wish they had a good QB to back up Rodgers last year. Cousins will probably be OK but you probably dint feel great pinning your hopes on a 36 yr old QB coming off an achilles injury.

@@sudukemsn I think Falcons love kirk in their offense, but kirk was content in Minnesota. They needed to overpay (and they did by a lot lol) for him to leave his current situation and come to Atlanta

As for the New England patriots they got too many holes in their roster. I thought trading down to 6/11 and getting more picks would work. Drake year 1 hopefully will be better then I expect.

I don’t feel sorry for someone that is guarantied to make a $100,000,000 million dollars!!! NO MATTER WHAT!!! All I heard bad anyone say is what if they’re both good. That’s great news to me. They don’t want to be like the Pittsburgh Steelers with Big Ben. They could always trade one. I guarantee a team will be calling to get one of the Falcons quarterbacks.

Kirk cousin is a mediocre bum cannot win the big game,he lost to the 3 worst QB in the nfl playoffs daniel Jones, this bum as never won anything, the penics pick is a good pick, and on day two atlanta is having one of the best draft.
