Information is incorrect. LP warranty is 5/15/50. 5 years full service, 15 years exterior coatings, 50 years material replacement. The product was tested in Hawaii rainforest for 10 years. Don’t think rainfall is an issue either.
Thanks for your comment! Yes, 5/15/50 on their 'ExpertFinish' (more expensive) option - only 5/50 on their regular LP SmartSide siding. The LP siding product is a great product and extremely durable... BUT, it is interesting to me that LP voids the warranty if lawn sprinklers spray water onto their product. You would think in a rainforest in Hawaii their product would be subject to much more water exposure than lawn sprinklers running for an hour or two.
What siding is protected by hail? I read LP is guaranteed for 1.75” then home insurance would then be involved. Warranties on anything are typically useless imo. Good content overall, out of the most popular options I’d go with LP over Hardie, vinyl or aluminum.
Do not powerwash. The best way to clean LP is by mixing mild detergent or dishwashing liquid with warm water in a bucket and use a sponge to scrub siding from top to bottom.
Diamond Kote is a prefinisher of LP. Same product, but 30-year finish warranty. Plus, they make rabbeted trim w/attached nail fins to create a hidden fastener system.
I don't know if I would ever trust LP to stand behind any of their products. The only reason they paid out on tens of thousand of claims back in the '90's was because they lost a major class action lawsuit. Even after losing they denied that there was anything wrong with their product and blamed the failures on either improper construction or the homeowner's improper maintenance.
If you leave a piece of osb in a shed without insulation it actually warps from absorbing moisture. Now imagine this stuff on your house. It's going to rot eventually. Cement board is forever. LP smartside is only good for the installer.
@@rmkensington Period my has that siding and I noticed the bottom panels and the trims on the windows, especially the bottom part where paint bearly reach when they are painting super fast with machine. This prodcut shouldn't be in the market at all.
@@rmkensington You couldn't be more wrong as your statement is incorrect. It's not traditional OSB and it will not rot. Therefore the 50-year warranty on the substrate made with MDI resin, zinc borate and hydrophobic waxes formed under heat and pressure. It also come with an initial 5-year labor warranty. Cement board contains Portland cement, with sand and wood fiber and actually absorbs water. Certainly not forever.
You are probably referring to their first-generation siding called InnerSeal which failed, and LP paid out handsomely in a class action lawsuit. They re-engineered the line 30 years ago to what is now known as SmartSide. Totally different and performs.
Yes, if you pay for their 'ExpertFinish' the paint coating is warrantied for 15 years. The warranty then becomes a 5/15/50. 5 year full coverage, 15 year on the finish, and 50 years prorated.
Accoring to the product manual, LP SmartSide is acceptable for interior application. According to LP Corp, the binding agents and resins in LP SmartSide siding release low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which may reduce the risk of health problems for some people. LP SmartSide siding is also formaldehyde-free, making it a safe and healthy option for homes.
Not sure about your claim to don’t install an heavy areas where we get rain. It’s exclusively sold in the northeast for areas of rain. That’s where they install most of it. Actually that’s where 80% of their product is sold in the heavy rain areas of the north east.

How do you clean LP siding? I have seen some people say powerwash. Others say you have to use mild soap and wash clothe.

If you had to choose, would you go with LP or Diamond Kote?

Hello bro Can you say me what is it lp smart it material from wood or what is it it diffrenc from panels?

Great content!
Their warranty page for LP Smartside ExpertFinish says it is warranted for 15 years.

Is this safe to use on an interior wall? As far as breathing the product fumes or smell for a family room?

Nice objective review, thanks
Thanks for taking time to watch and comment. We appreciate it!

Another pro is that it comes in 16' lengths and not just 12'
this argument can sooo be a con also.
16 foot turd vs 12 foot quality siding
very much appreciate this info!
Not for me
