Hi, Thank you for the video! I am not from engineering and was finding it difficult to understand the main difference between them. Thank you so much. I searched for online materials elaborating the difference between two but could not find any credible source such as any textbook or book. Would it be possible for you to provide me any credible source for the information such as any book or report or journal article? I need them urgently.
+Pammi Nitin Sinha Access the below link, where you can find an article explaining the difference between the three. As Dam Barrage and Weir are three different individual structures you may not find it in a single journal or report explaining the difference. Any further queries regarding this is welcome. Received your mail too. greenbugenergy.com/sp_faq/what-is-the-difference-between-a-dam-a-weir-and-a-barrage Regards 1946 engineer#

+Prathamesh Satankar Good Afternoon. All the above three structures are completely different. So there will be many differences in each component. But the major intention is, for a layman he should be able to differentiate among three structures with their basic function. So in this video I tried to explain it. Anyways thanks for you feed back. I will try to incorporate individual videos explaining each structure very soon. For more civil related videos you can subscribe my channel Engineer#.
+Chitransh Chatnani Weir is a barrier constructed across the river. This barrier will raise the water level on upstream side. Thus raised water level can be easily diverted or used for irrigation or stored for future use. These are uses of weir. @1946 engineer#
First of all, only dams out of these three are used to store water. Weirs and barrages are diversion structures and do not have reservoirs. Weirs and barrages are constructed only to maintain a constant level of water upstream so as to divert it conveniently. And "Barrage" is pronounced as "Barraaj". Kindly make sure you understand things correctly by cross verifying them from several sources before trying to teach others.
Dam is a water storage resorver. It's height is more than weir and barraige. When water is full, it doesn't overflow. Water pass through spillway Weir is small water storage resorver. Water is not overflow in it. Water passes through gate. Mainly water diverted to irrigation purpose Barrage is small water resorver. It has no gate and spillway. If water goes full then it overflow
I'm not an engineer. yet, this was useful bruh. thank you!
same..... needed for geo exam lmao
The way you tought is very nice bro.thank you and go ahead..
Thank u. Please share the video.
What would a weir type structure with a gate mechanism be called? Something that lowers and raises
That is the barrage, which have the gate system in it.
@@engineer1946 thank you
Good info. ....Keep this
thank u for your lecture ... i understood the difference between them.....
Excellent bro.. make a video about basics of civil engg...of imp points and mostly asked questions in competitive in all our subjets
Giving gd information tq
I have a question sir... Can we provide spillway to barrage
It depends upon the location, most of the times gates are lifted in such a way that water always flows down stream.
Sweet voice and give a delicious information about civil thank u bro
sir good job... it is a consistent explaination b/w these
This was useful for me for 10th std geography, water resources.
Good
U r the best tutor bro
very simplified way of explaining....thanks..
