Yeah; Penny had to use Maiden Magic to create them because as a human she no longer had access to her mechanical swords...but it was the fighting style she knows and these magical substitutes came in handy in her duel with Cinder.
I really like this volume already. Ruby is being so gentle the way she talks about penny and I really like that. Plus the jump between being funny and sad is really good too :D
Yeah, once Penny became a real girl, she no longer had her wire controlled swords in her back. So she recreated them using her maiden powers. Which is why the sword is green (matches Penny's aura color)
While I think it’s more an Alice and wonderland allusion, the Wizard of Oz for team RWBY still shines through •Weiss the Tin Man, trying to logic her way out of this •Yang the Scarecrow trying to brute force her way •Blake the Cowardly Lion trying her best to follow the “rules” not upsetting the order •Ruby being Dorothy focused on getting back home
5:20 Among all the Wonderland references, Yang mentions a character called the Rusty Knight. That sounds suspiciously like _The Knight In Rusty Armor,_ and given the themes of that book, I'm really, really hoping it'll be Jaune...
Weiss trying to apply cold logic to their situation and tying herself up in knots.....also, Blake, being the book nerd of the group, is totally grasping the fairy tale nature of this strange new world better than anyone. The terrain "loops" until you unlock / solve the next story beat. It won't allow them to "jump to the end" the way Weiss clearly wants to.

The world they are in is based off of "Alice in Wonderland". More specifically the Remnant fairy tale "The Girl Who Fell Through The World". Instead of Alice, the girl in that tale is named Alex. So... Alex In The Ever After I guess lol
Weiss doesn't seem to have learned anything from when she was in Remnant. She thinks the Ever After is make-believe even though: The Story of the Seasons: turned out to be real. The Two Brothers: turned out to be real. The Girl in the Tower: real. The Shallow Sea: not in the canon, but if you watched the Fairy Tales of Remnant videos, also real. The Man With Two Souls: real. The only one we haven't encountered so far is The Ninjas of Love... so why is it so hard for Weiss to accept that another fairy tale is real?
All of RWBY is the wizard of oz..... Ozpin is the wizard, Ruby is red riding hood yes but also Dorthy zwei is toto, qrow is the scarecrow, glenda goodwitch is ..... The good witch, ironwood is tinman, lionheart is the cowardly lion and salem is the wicked witch.... This alternate world is directly inspired by alice in wonderland and the new girl is most likely alice, who ive heard is named Alex in RWBY.
@@luthientinuviel3883 well that's the thing many of the characters get moments when they mirror or partially represent multiple influences so yes there are moments where Oscar could be Dorothy but it would have been more accurate for me to say Oz is the wizard, but there are many moments where the other characters parallel her. But it is one of ruby's primary illusions.
@@Kaylakaze every character in the show has multiple illusions. yes shade's headmaster is directly Dorothy but Ruby and zwei are also inspired by Dorothy and toto, many characters share inspirations in the show...
I'm really worried about Ruby, Phoenix/Knight pointed out in his episode review that she's lost that spark of hers, her hope, if the jar thing at the auction scene is in any indication, so I'm hoping that she'll get it back in this volume, cause how's she suppose to save the world if she's gonna be all mopy and sad for the rest of her life.
She will get that spark back, but the reality is she has been through hell and is keeping up a strong face. She needs to process the trauma and greaf before she is ready to take on the world's darkness again.

That sword was to easy to identify, it was Penny’s Semblance Sword… I literally cry everytime Ruby talks about it…

I always thought Oscar was Dorothy tho? He grew up on a farm with his aunt, got whisked away on an adventure by Ozpin, etc.
