Tossis at 1:45 - the 2002 Vasicek call is John Forslund. After he is done, Tripp Tracy the Hurricanes color guy interjects about Raleigh “not being a hockey town”. You can hear John say one of his famous lines “Hey hey waddya say” he also frequently says “that’s hockey baby”
@@cbiz384 My bad, missed that one. Should definitely hear more of him on a Hurricanes playoff goal video, although I don't mind listening to a bitter Jack Edwards either
As a Devils fan, this video crushes me. Probably would have won another cup or two if not for Carolina. They are our kryptonite when it comes to the playoffs
Its because of the 2001 series when the Devils Scott Stevens concussed Shane Willis and Ron Francis with borderline hits. Canes never forgot that and played extra hard against Devils in 2002, 2006, 2009.
@Tyler Leach At least that Hurricanes team was the only team to avoid being swept by the Detroit dynasty in all of their Cup finals, if I am not mistaken.
Carolina don’t do first round eliminations. They miss or are in the Eastern Conference Finals. They’re last 4 playoff berths. 2002 - Cup Finals, 2006 - Cup, 2009 - Eastern conference finals, 2019 - Eastern Conference Finals
The canes were owned by the Devils the 1st time both teams played each other back in 2000 but then decided to own them 3 times every times the Canes and Devils play each other in the playoffs it's like the Canes are the Devils dreaded curse mark .
I was at the game in the second clip with my parents but I wasn’t even a year old. When Brind’amour won the game with that goal my dad had to cover my ears bc the arena was so loud
McGinn’s 2OT goal against the Caps is still probably one of my happiest moments as a Carolina fan
I agree
Same!
Yes!!
And always will be mine.
Williams scoring the empty-netter against the Oilers in Game 7 of the 2006 SCF is the only one better for me.
0:08 I love how LOUD the goal horn was in the old Greensboro Coliseum!
back to back game 7 OT winners 10 years apart damn
John Forslund is a national treasure
Right, he didn't call any of these though
Tossis not sure why they didn’t put hardy any of his calls in here

Jack Ass can go drown in expired clam chowder.
Now do one for the Sabres' last 10 years.
Yeah about that... lol
10 minutes of a a blank screen...
Ha, good one!
Well, there would be one because of Tyler Ennis’s OT goal in 2011 in Game 5
@@rocksuat Nope

idk how you can watch, it would kill me to watch highlights of the caps or the lightning or any other team i dont like

0:35 Wild Jack Edwards appears
This makes me happy.
This makes me very, very happy.
The ultimate duo: John And Tripp
That was a great reel of grindy, straight up hockey goals.
The Canes really love scoring against the Devils in OT
And that doesn't even talk about the 09 game 7 which the Canes scored two in under two minutes to make sure it DIDN'T go to OT.
The Vinyl Broadcaster Not to mention Game 4 of that series when Jussi Jokinen tipped in quite possibly the first ever regulation hockey buzzer beater.
They’ve played them the most lol
THIS is the playoff overtime goals video that was meant to be.
Hurricanes don't make the playoffs often but when they do they make a lot of noise
I almost didn't like this comment
Yup. We are hoping to change that. I would love for Carolina to be a regular playoffs team. I think it is changing. We will see after 10 years.
That's an absurd number of OT winners in 02
Marcus Dovigi Two shy of the playoff record I believe
@@bharrison3364 Playoff record is the Habs in 93 if I remember, and it was 10 straight OT win without a loss.
The Canes really felt like a team of destiny that year. Too bad they ran into the juggernaut Red Wings who had one of the best rosters of all time.
Thank you again Brock Mcginn! Won me $2500 that game, gotta go back with the Cans again this year over the Rangers
That payday must’ve been a Beauty!
10:14 THE GOAT
Always makes me laugh the way Tim Thomas just yeets out of the net after an OT loss. Haven't seen that with any other goalie.
It's like he was fired out of a cannon
Brodeur is one of the best goalies of all time except against Nicolas Wallin
Josef Vasicek R.I.P.
2002 Run to the cup was a exciting year for a new hockey fan. Specially that series against Toronto.
@Tyler Leach At least that Hurricanes team was the only team to avoid being swept by the Detroit dynasty in all of their Cup finals, if I am not mistaken.
@@jacksonwright6029 Yep you're right, and if they win that 3OT game in Game 3, it goes either 6 or 7 in my opinion
Love this series. Can't wait for the wings one
Some deep runs for missing the playoffs quite alot

Conor Power the weirdest record in NHL for sure
Nic Wallin the secret weapon
Forslund is a gem.
5:46 HUH
The Canes don't always make the playoffs....but when they do they are clutch
I remember staying up really late to watch the canes vs caps game and I was so happy when Carolina scored. Let’s go canes!
Also a lot of Canes Playoff Goals with under a minute left in the Game to take the lead and win.
Great Stuff! Now just gotta add that 2022 2-1 OT Win in 2nd RD Matchup Game 1 vs NYR by IAN COLE.
The people who disliked this video are definitely New Jersey Devils fans

Those 2002 Canes goals in the Eastern Conference Finals will haunt me forever.
I wish the 3rd quarter buzzer beater was here
it feels so weird in these early clips, hearing jack edwards call a game that doesn't involve the bruins
