I could listen to this all day. Since you've obviously got the talents, I'd love to hear other chip renditions. I bet this would sound great with Namco 163 or Konami VRC7.
if you wanted to be cheap, you could just use 50% pulse with 3 n163 channels and the clarinet patch for vrc7 to get the same effect as the original lol
I swear I can see this being the ending theme to something like the 80's version of Bubblegum Crisis. Needless to say I'm really glad to see someone that appreciates the Gimmick! OST as much as I do (if not more so), it's really underrated. I did a cover of this in the past in more of an alternative rock style, though it's all in Guitar Pro so it doesn't sound as good as I wished it to be.
Yeah, about that.... You definitely spotted a production error. I was tweaking a preset sound on the ol' Yamaha DX7, trying to "clean out the mud," but I think I cleaned out the bass instead lol. An example of poor instrumentation (shoulda made a bass patch with more high-end harmonics to cut through the mix without actually increasing the volume). Edit: can you hear the other major error? Hint: the noise gate on the reverb-drenched snare isn't really gating that much. And that was *after* I tried to correct it from my sub-par SoundCloud mix. I made that "bell lead" from scratch, also on the DX7, I call it "Taco Bell"
@@ballandpaddle That I didn't know, that's a shame. Didn't mean to be nitpicky lol though I sorta know the pains of perfection. Just looked up the other one at SoundCloud, and I can definitely hear where it's been improved upon with complete clean-up of inconsistency in reverb going on/off. But even if it's not gating enough still, as a casual listener you really have to tune in hard enough to notice the potentially lacking length/strength in this effect before desiring to tweak a little further. I think you did a solid job with the overall work even with the current setting. Effort is put into this and that I can tell loads, something which brings it all together nicely. Also that's cute, "Taco Bell" lmao how vivid. Pretty good, its mellowness fits comfortably into the soundstage as a "real life" counterpart to the game. It's a win to me.
Imagine making a video game and having so much incredible material to work with that you end up excluding a track of this caliber. Sunsoft
I left my wife to marry this remix.
Please do the entire OST. I BEG YOU! lol
this is how i always heard this song in my head and i love it

Vinylcheese made a great rendition with the N163, it really feels like the definitive version of that track.
If you don't mind, I'd like some Journey to Silius remixes. similar to dark-synth? :0

me too, that is exactly the anime was would fit perfectly (is similar vibes to "Ai no Senshi" from 1992 Sailor Moon too)
Nice. Definitely one of the best tracks on the entire nes.
If only the bass were a bit louder. Otherwise this is great!
HOLY CARP IS THIS AWESOME!!!
Bass needs to be louder! Yeah it has 80s written all over it, well done capturing the vibe.
