    What took out that Jack in the Box location in Denton, was the non-stop construction on Loop 288. The expansion of Loop 288 pretty much destroyed any business the Jack in the Box on Loop 288 was receiving.
    The CoronaVirus situation didn't help anything either. The shutting down of restaurant, and businesses for HEALTH REASONS pretty much ruined any chance of that Jack in the Box continuing operations.
    Prior to all that construction, that Jack in the Box was wall to wall traffic. Especially the drive-thru. I worked nights, and that was the only restaurant that was close to steady traffic. Whataburger was stand-still traffic in their drive-thru.

      Is it possible that they simply relocated to the location further up the road? I promised my daughter JitB tacos one night, and thankfully looked up where it was rather than drive to the closed location that I had been going to since the 80s. I mean, it seems like everything relocated further up the road. Back when 288 went OVER the rail road tracks, rather than under it, Target, Long John Silvers, and other places were closer to that JitB, mostly because that mall was still new and got traffic when those locations first opened.

    I moved to Denton in 94 and that Jack and a box was always busy. For years we knew that it would one day be closed cause city wanted it and sure will be torn down one day for a road expiation. Denton has grown so much since 94. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and enjoy the small town it was and get video. You should look up the old DPS in denton it blow your mind how small it is was for our big city. They just shut it down in 21 after opening the new big DPS offices.

    Really cool to see someone explore all these places that become invisible to those of us who have passed it by, paying no mind after all these years. Didn't even know that Jack had closed! I also loved watching your video of the Grandy's, my dad worked at one in town making cinnamon rolls when he was a teen and we ate at that location on University sooo many times growing up it was really such a sad time seeing it go, and driving by and seeing it in it's state everyday is equally so. Thanks for documenting this stuff!

    So weird! I just happened upon this video on my feed and I live near it. I never go to jack in the box but one day my bf and I decided to order and the next day they were closed! There was no sign saying they were about to close, so I hope their employees had time to find new employment!
    I hope this gets turned to something else soon because it’s such an eyesore.
    Denton has changed astronomically in the past ten years. It makes me sad and I want to leave :(

    Your not missing anything from Jack and the Box. I just had it for the first time a few weeks ago. I did a video of it on my channel.
    It’s good food if it’s late and your drunk. 😆
    We have a lot of abandoned restaurants here in Bryan/College Station. I’m most surprised that our Red Lobster closed last year. It always was packed with people.
    I think Covid did not help either with these restaurants closing. But We still have Whataburger. 🥰

    There are two closed Jack in the Box in Hurst area near where you did the video of that Costco about 2 miles apart from each other. Hurst approved a new one and after it opened they closed the other two, even though hey said they would not. And yes, the food is not that great and you are not missing anything, but I do like White Castle.
    I hate Denton, got a speeding ticket on that same street years ago and it was $300 for just 10 and under. The roads are messed up with how the flow through the city and can be confusing to new people. I avoid it at all costs and will go out of my way to take other routes even if it is way out of the way.
    I see you have your Buc-ee's shirt on from that video, so did you stop by there before or after this video ;)

    I remember Jack in the box being on 20/20 back in the 1990s I was in highschool some kids like 6 years old died or was hospitalized, so sad. They talked about the way Jack in the box was put in their meats that can harm you make you sick.

    • @syxepop
      @syxepop 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with Jack In The Box was in the '90s e-coli from slightly uncooked burgers.
      After that JitB changed both their sanitary norms (their newer norms were implemented by the US Gov't as regulations for restaurants) and their beef suppliers. But still most of their food is "nothing out of the ordinary", most known for their ads.

  • @brendarobbins8832
    @brendarobbins8832 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That location was always Jack-in-the-box. I liked their sourdough bread sandwiches. They had a breakfast, a turkey & cheese and a cheeseburger version. The endless construction on I-35E and Loop 288 then covid probably took them out.
    *That ER place across the parking lot was originally Red Lobster. There was a decent Tex-Mex place at the far corner of the strip shops under the billboard that was then a Genghis Grill.

    I live in Denton now but a few years back I lived in Waco and worked at Jack in The Box there. The food was really good back when I worked there...we were always busy...I think mostly because we were right off of I35 and the city had just built a water park( Hawaiian Falls?) so people would stop on their way home from the park. I think I may have been to this Jack in the box when I first moved to Denton...I vaguely remember service being awful and they would close before scheduled hours?? I was driving for Door Dash, so I've been to many of the restaurants in Denton to pick up food...BTW...I'm originally from the Chicagoland area...born and raised and White Castle is disgusting!! LOL...I also drove for Door Dash in Illinois, the 3rd shift and would often have to pick up orders from White Castle...can't tell you how many times I sat in drive thru for over 45 minutes waiting to be next in line for my order...the food smelled awful...lol...Nice Buccees T shirt BTW...I love Buccees😁😁😁 also...your girl says Whataburger like a Texan..lol...WATERBURGER😆😆😆

    You're better off at Wendy's. At least Wendy's food tastes fresh. Jack In The Box would have been a national chain by now if it wasn't for their E Coli outbreak back in 1993. They're stuck as a regional southwestern US chain because of that incident.

  • @tbirdracefan

    Jack in The Box is not what it used to be. I would enjoy a good hamburger that was inexpensive and of good size. Over the last several years the size has shrunk and the cost ballooned. They try to make their food sound like it is gourmet food. Just noticed the other day a Jack-In-The-Box in Mesquite TX I used to stop at regularly has now been closed too.
