Hey Peter, hope all is well with you and your family.
This is a great shot indeed, congratulations! Thank you for showing us how you got to this final image. It is simply a great street photography shot.
All the best my friend!
As I am looking to improve my street photography, I do appreciate the making of an image stories, from start on the street to finish in post-production. Your explanations and comments are very clear, your video is well made and a good reference to keep, thank you for making those!
Thank you very much.
The image is well balanced. It is the rule of odds. With the tram is great for containment. The eye can also see this in a group of three left, or three right, so no matter where the eye drifts, you still have odds. Looking straight on, the man, colored balls and sign become a view as one, then the background, followed by the tram as framed element on left. You can feel the whole scene and know where you are. This is great! I sometimes fall into the cropping in too tight. The problem is, you as the photographer know where you were and the rest going on, and thus choose to just show the main thing going on --- wrong, wrong, and wrong, as the image needs the rest for letting the world in on your story. You did well in leaving the information in. Luck is the opportunity, with skill being the end result. The need to predict and position one's self, have setting close enough to work, and pressing the button when the heart and mind say to do it, separates the artist from the rest. And lots of practice is required. The silliest question people will ask is, " are you a professional " as though it matters. Tell them, if you are confident of skills, " no, I am an artist. " There are plenty of TH-cam professional street shooters doing rubbish. Making money is meaningless in regard to art. Does the photo speak now, and will it decades from now? Take care, Loren
Following is ok. Nice format.
Interesting video! Thank you! I personally find these semicandid moments the subject realizes they are in the shot the most interesting. It's still candid in that they don't have time to change their pose or behavior, but there is eye contact. It's something I try to provoke when appropriate. Great photo!
You are right. The moment you described is an interesting one or it actually is a good time to click the shutter.
Ok, processing of this photo, I believe, is more interesting than the hole view, because the lighting on the person, has a reflecting feeling, from the white parts of the wall.
I think that it's a great image Peter and love the colours in the balloons which really draw the eye very clearly. I just think that the colours of the tram which is quite a prominent factor should be somewhat brighter as its very dark ,It would add to the image and not detract from it.
Thank you Peter for the excellent video.
Many thanks!
I loved the image. Congratulations on your excellent work 👌
Thank you very much!
Peter, I love this series of videos. They are very informative. Thanks for putting them together.
As for me, I will stalk a subject. I don't see the harm in it. If they were to notice me and ask me not to follow them, I of course would apologize and stop following them. Luckily, this has never happened.
Loved the image Peter, and what you did with the luck that came your way! The harder we work, the luckier we get. Take 50 images, how many 'beauties'? Take 500....
Very true.
👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks very much Peter, great pict and video. Satur from Spain.
Many thanks!
If you follow at a distance and don't interfere with the person and then promptly leave them alone once you get your image then I don't think it's a problem. I like how the colors of the balls stood out against the rest of the photo.
Definition of LUCK in photography
L = Labouring
U = Under
C = Correct
K = Knowledge
The more I practise, the luckier I get!
I totally agree with both of you.
Lucky you didn't find more street Photographers following the Subject like happened to me.
You mean: some person that was minding his own business even didn't realize, that (s)he was followed by a horde of Street Photographers, searching for an opportunity to take a shot? 🤣
@@beholder2012 yes
In the rare occasions I do street photography, I behave like a hunter. Pick a good spot (background, light) and let the prey walk into the image.
That's called fishing. Hunting is moving around actively seeking prey.
You mention it in the video so I would like to know.
What does it mean to you to have respect for the people we photograph on the street?
If they clearly indicate that they do not want their photograph taken, I won't. Or if they are in a trouble, I won't photograph. I help if possible. I do not photograph beggars etc.
