I always seem to open the app just as you’ve uploaded - 18 seconds this time - and I don’t even have notifications turned on (no offence) 😂 I think it’s meant to be
Hi there Eliot, sounds like Hand gun was a blind buy? saw it years ago, if you liked that try Vigilante not on 4k im afraid, is on dvd and blu-ray, very gritty, kinda like Deaathwish
These videos always end up costing me money. I was on the fence about Butcher, Baker, NIghtmare Maker. But I ended up ordering it before your review was over :D
I imported the Severin Bruceploitation boxset, it arrived yesterday. Not cheap, worked out about £120 all in direct from Severin. Looking forward to digging in, once the football is out of the way
I was planning on buying May December having watched it on streaming and loved it. So glad I watched your video first. I wonder if any other countries' releases are better. The French one has a cool cover but it may well be the same quality of transfer. If anyone has a different version of it on blu-ray I'd love to know!
Cheers for pointing out the issues with the May December Blu-ray. Been wanting to see it because I adore Julianne Moore so I’ll probably just get it on DVD instead as I still like to get DVD’s for films that have a lot of dialogue and it’ll be cheaper as well 🤔
You really should take a look at Bazzoni's other gialli movies The Possessed (La donna del lago) and The Fifth Cord (Giornata nera per l'ariete). Especially the first one is brilliant and even a touch better than Footprints on the Moon (Le orme).
Great haul Elliot 😀🍿🎸🎶 I loved ‘Monster’ at the cinema; I will pick it up on Blu-Ray at some point; that director is really great isn’t he; ‘Shoplifters’ is one of my favourite films ever 😀 ‘Butcher Baker’ is a great little Slasher; I watched it last week myself; great to see Severin releasing some of the Video Nasties on 4K 😀👌
The problem is, the player sales don't seem to be thriving. It's a self-sufficient hobby. I do have to wonder, if eating out is now a luxury, how are people able to afford all this hard media?
They're still quite expensive. Funny enough, while I finally upgraded my TV last year (was a 1080p set from 2012 or so to an LG G2), I still haven't bothered with the player yet. You always hear things like "UB820 or bust" online, and at this point I'm waiting for another black friday-esque sale. I'm currently buying 4k movies that come with a standard blu-ray and then using my PS3 of all things to play those in the meantime lol. Still looks great!
Yeah, some people are using their game systems. I honestly don't think the hobby will grow unless player prices come down and they can entice younger collectors. Interact with a lot of young people, 25 and younger, and only one collects but he is studying tilm. Most don't see hard media as financially practical. Most use film as background noise, so, streaming is sufficient. They also get most of their entertainment from youtube and TikTok. I know there is a way to bring a new audience in but it doesn't seem the studios or boutique labels want to work to get it, which is unfortunate.
Yesterday I read that average prices for all physical video and audio media has increased substantially because of high demand and shorter supply. Demand has increased because multiple streaming services and limited time on streaming has fueled awareness of lack of availability. Also the increase in subscription prices has made owning physical feel like a better return of investment. As we know higher prices with robust demand drives supply. We should more physical release going forward, not less. Google physical media prices.
I’ve had to cut back on my buying in last few years. I’m not a youngster (sadly), and on a fixed income. The difficulty for me is all the box sets holding one film and a lot of tat for which the price can be raised inordinately, say £50+. Combined with the closure of my local Fopp a few years ago, my income doesn’t go far these days. Plus I now have a multi-region player, so can order imports. I got the player not long before Covid and the huge costs of importing went up. Despite the higher costs, my backlog pile is increasing. I need to watch more…
There really is nothing more obnoxious and offensive than a foreign director making a film that professes to explain YOUR country to you, when they have no clue what they are talking about (HANDGUN by Tony Garnett, or DOGVILLE by Lars von Trier are good examples).
Have you seen Perfect Friday? It's a superb film and you get to see Ursula in the nip as a bonus. It's currently on Prime. I bought the Blu Ray the day after seeing it. It's a really good film.

I’m glad to hear it! Technically it’s TH-cam law for you to shout ‘First!!’ If you’re first to comment 🤓

Ha ha ! Lair of The White Worm 😂 great fun - first saw this on Channel 4 way back and Hugh Grant - a very different movie to Four Weddings 🤣
Ugh... so sad to hear about that May December disc. Top 3 favourite from last year that I had planned on purchasing 😢
Is there any place that sells the Imprint releases in the UK?
Kore-eda is one of my favourite directors!

The Small Back Room is brilliant and looks fantastic

Loved Monster I got the US release has a different cover design, love Koreeda.

I have them both from Arrow Video and they’re brilliant. I love the moody atmosphere of The Possessed. Beautiful b&w photography too!
Hi Elliot, have you watched Footprints yet? If so & you're interested (?), I'd like to share my interpretation of the story.

Magic Mike is a great film. I haven't seen it in ages though. Magic Mike XL is quite good but Last Dance is not.
Big fan of Ursula Undress
