as much as I agree with the fuckers who say I sucked, yes I barely pulled it off, and it irks me out every time I hear it, I wanna throw in a few facts regarding how it happened. my buddy Greg Mainer got me an invite to this gig which I had no idea was gonna be on MTV and I was picked out of line to request a song. the setup was the song, I didn't pick it, I was told what song to pick. when they came up to me 5 min before going on the air, I expressed I wish I could go up and do something with them. she came back and asked if I knew the words and I said "of course, who wouldn't?" next thing I know, Matt Pinfield is babbling in to the mic and I couldn't hear a word he said, but the rest is history. so anyone have any other questions about it, this is really Aaron, I'll be glad to answer them here. and thanks to the dude who posted this video as I lost my copy of this year's before you did and among other people, Rick Hunolt and Greg Christian didn't believe me until this magically appeared online...
Dude, I think you killed it for a last-minute surprise of being on stage with Metallica! I love this recording because the bass sounds heavy as fuck in the mix, but your vocals also add a cool layer of heaviness. Killer job, man. I can't imagine how my adrenaline would be rushing if I was on that stage!
Don't hate on Jason, he just was respecting the integrity of the song. Think how bad this would have been had the kid really not known the lyrics, or flubbed them. That said, the fan did a really decent job.
Anyone who says he sung horribly or whatever is jealous and thats very not metal of you dudes. I was so happy for him, i watched this shit live when it aired but lost my copy but ill tell you this Aaron i was goin nuts with ya when you guys did it. Awesome experience and awesome job!!!
what i imagine James is thinking when the guy first starts singing: *guy starts singing* *James starts smiling and laughing* James "Oh my god this guy sucks lmao"
I had recorded this on VHS when it aired. I lent it to a co-worker. His wife taped over it =O Me being a bass player, he brought me a Metallica bass tab in exchange. I still have it.
To everyone that's bashing the guy singing, give him credit for having the balls going up there singing. He was having fun and I'm sure any of you guys would wanna do the same despite how many people would think you'd suck.
Seriously whats with the random Rob bashing? The man is an amazing bassist (arguably far better than Jason) and people get mad at him just because he’s not Jason, and only compare vocals which don’t matter at all as long as you have James. Besides Rob barely even does backing vocals at all
@xBOMBxTRACKx There aren`t many metal vocalists who can REALLY sing, i know of a few, but this guy certainly had the roar of a lion, and he gave it all, that`s metal :D
I thought this guy struggled abit but apart from that I think he did an amazing job, considering he has never sang in such an amazing rock band as METALLICA, YOU DID A GUD JOB MAN!!!
I would have to say both. Struggling to get his voice right, but doing really well under the pressure of going from fan to singing for FUCKING METALLICA!
this is Aaron, the guy who sang in this video. I just wanted to take a moment and say that yes, not only is Greg Mainer my good friend since I was a wee lad, but ALSO THE GUY WHO GOT ME IN TO THAT SHOW! HE WAS THERE! And he got me the invite from the metallica club which was the only way short of winning tickets over the radio to get in. he's fuckin awesome and whoever it was who says nobody cares if you know him or not can eat a fat bowl of dick batter. you rock Greg! I got your back! 😉
and also my performance was quite nerve racking for me to listen to, and I have learned how to sing since then. every time I hear this I cringe about 15 times and can barely make out what words are being belched past my mouthful of oatmeal and marbles. but as far as I know I'm the only fucker lucky enough to have this claim that I sang on MTV with metallica, and as my old drummer says, "dude you're the only person on the planet who can get on MTV with metallica and have something to complain about"... it was not planned and they really took a chance I'd totally bomb by letting me up there, and I COULD have talked with them after the show but instead I chased after the hot chick who requested for whom the bell tolls like a dumbass. kicked myself for the rest of my life for that decision.
When I used to trade or buy tape cassette bootleg shows of Metallica they would go to some small little place and let a fan sing a song or 2. That was during the And Justice for time. But even back then James would say not this mic that's mine use that one. I don't blame him. Either way that was very cool times to either experience it or hear it in a bootleg recording
@izanamisunioj You're right, most of the people would be too shy to go and sing it and even though he can't sing very well he knew he won't get such a chance ever again so he didn't give a shit what anyone will think and went for it.
I dont care if he cant sing shit, he is up there playing with one of the biggest and best bands of all time, i whould give one finger for that and im sure not alone.
i love that part 6:20 or something.. he sings bad but mother of god, i'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealoooouus!! james, me, singing.. sharing mic... oh my god... it will be fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He sure looks happy! And so do James 'cause he knows the guy wants to scream with happiness :D But Jason... Well... "A bad idea man... A bad idea...". :D
@mrsatanicbassist Their last Tharsh Metal album was And Justice for All, The Black Album was heavy metal, Load, Reload, and St.Anger were hard rock, while Death Magnetic was "suppose" to be thrash metal, but nothing compare to kill em all to and justice for all...in other words, after cliff died they sell out their genre
this wasn't a "who's the best singer" kind of thing, the kid's just someone from the audience. Getting up onstage with the lords of metal in front of maybe 10-20 million tv watchers knowing you cant sing takes balls
he didnt do bad. i like how Jason made sure he knew the lyrics so that no one messed up the song. He really hates when people care less about music than him... What? too soon?
as much as I agree with the fuckers who say I sucked, yes I barely pulled it off, and it irks me out every time I hear it, I wanna throw in a few facts regarding how it happened. my buddy Greg Mainer got me an invite to this gig which I had no idea was gonna be on MTV and I was picked out of line to request a song. the setup was the song, I didn't pick it, I was told what song to pick. when they came up to me 5 min before going on the air, I expressed I wish I could go up and do something with them. she came back and asked if I knew the words and I said "of course, who wouldn't?" next thing I know, Matt Pinfield is babbling in to the mic and I couldn't hear a word he said, but the rest is history. so anyone have any other questions about it, this is really Aaron, I'll be glad to answer them here. and thanks to the dude who posted this video as I lost my copy of this year's before you did and among other people, Rick Hunolt and Greg Christian didn't believe me until this magically appeared online...
aaron brown Respect for you man, nice story to tell to your sons and grandsons! cheers from Chile
Dude......a once in a lifetime opportunity. You won the lottery, brother. I remember watching it when it aired on MTV. Great job!
Dude, I think you killed it for a last-minute surprise of being on stage with Metallica! I love this recording because the bass sounds heavy as fuck in the mix, but your vocals also add a cool layer of heaviness. Killer job, man. I can't imagine how my adrenaline would be rushing if I was on that stage!
dude I thought you were awesome, it took some real nuts. Much respect
My guy I don’t think you did bad at all. Was it a little rough? Yeah but that’s metal.
In the end this guy sang with Metallica and you didn't. What an experience!
Scott Armstrong on live tv broadcasted worldwide!Talk about nervous as fuck
This is what matters
did you?
Don't hate on Jason, he just was respecting the integrity of the song. Think how bad this would have been had the kid really not known the lyrics, or flubbed them. That said, the fan did a really decent job.
Jeff S. You suck
I don't know why but I think the initial "SLAVE" was so cool therefore I keep replaying it
Which is at 2:24 if anyone wants to join me
what i imagine James is thinking when the guy first starts singing:
*guy starts singing*
*James starts smiling and laughing*
James "Oh my god this guy sucks lmao"
Lars can play justice just fine u dumb fuck
nah, I thought he smile because that guy wasn't bad at all
That is Aaron Brown, My Friend.
+Nigel Baldes y que hacemos con eso
@@Geermann97 , shut up, hater.
You know, Jason wasn't pissed, he just wanted to save everyone from getting ear bleed
Thing I most remember from seeing this show years ago was how awesome Jason's bass sounded.
Props to that guy’s confidence. He’s a winner.
Still better than Justin Bieber.
No shit mustaine
Hello chicken under drugs
I had recorded this on VHS when it aired. I lent it to a co-worker. His wife taped over it =O

You can't really imagine that feeling... i mean... BEING ON STAGE WITH METALLICA!?!?! Omfg.
Singing while gods are playing. I can literally lay down my life to have such experience
6:19 HOLY SHIT. BEST PART
Rockin out with Metallica... this guy can cross that off his bucketlist.
Still better than Trujillo's back vocals.
Sad but true.
@@dancingbear614 , xD.

This is what makes Metallica kewl...........how many other bands would bring a fan onstage to sing? I cannot think of a one!
Kid: ...And Justice For All is my favorite !
Lars: Fuck.. guys, fuck him off. NOW !
Kid: but i wanna hear Creeping Death !
Lars: Phew..
LMAO
Lars can play justice just fine u dumb fuck
1 second ago
being a metallica member 6 minutes must feel amazing
We can't say Robert of Jason . Both are amazing and talanted.
Who we are to compare them ?
@xBOMBxTRACKx There aren`t many metal vocalists who can REALLY sing, i know of a few, but this guy certainly had the roar of a lion, and he gave it all, that`s metal :D
Que cara privilegiado! 😅 Quem se importa se foi bom, o cara cantou com o Metallica! Que oportunidade!! Será eternizado!
LOL @ 0:50 Jason's serious face.
Jason was like god no
That was one lucky ass Dude! Definetly something to remember for a looooooong ass time!!!
I thought this guy struggled abit but apart from that I think he did an amazing job, considering he has never sang in such an amazing rock band as METALLICA, YOU DID A GUD JOB MAN!!!
nice one gregmainer i think he will be stoked at least i would be anyway cheers mate X
james' face when the dude starts singing at 2:26 hehe he's just like ok this is gonna be some funny ass shit.
Wow that guy is really struggling... not saying I could do better tho.
***** Well you can clearly hear and see him straining his voice to make it gritty like Hetfield's, and well he's mostly off key!
I would have to say both. Struggling to get his voice right, but doing really well under the pressure of going from fan to singing for FUCKING METALLICA!
gregmainer no one cares if you know him or not lol

This guy does a pretty good job...who says Metallica dont care about their fans? Letting this guy jam with em at a request is great of them!
Before: MTV stood for -> Music television
Now: MTV stands for -> Mediocre television
Once in a lifetime deal! Lucky Dude!!
for new mic 50 $ for new amp 500 $ new guitar 5000 $ james face when dude started to sing priceless!
@izanamisunioj You're right, most of the people would be too shy to go and sing it and even though he can't sing very well he knew he won't get such a chance ever again so he didn't give a shit what anyone will think and went for it.
Muy bueno este show. Parte del unplugged este tema. Se la rebanco Aaron. Aguante METALLICA!!!!!!!
1:20 "This one is just... You know MINE!" Haha James was probably thinking "Use this mic and you will creep out dead from here"
I dont care if he cant sing shit, he is up there playing with one of the biggest and best bands of all time, i whould give one finger for that and im sure not alone.
I would also like to ad when they played Sundance in Bayshore Long island. They advertised as Creeping death. Who knew?
@izanamisunioj But who wouldn't be jealous...?=P
GREAT! This stage looks pretty cool!
OMG! Annie and Greg at 2:43. Hassan, Michelle, Liz, DeVITO and all the others, I miss you guys!!!
@majjuus Well that's your opinon, there was a few good song s like Fuel,Unforgiven II,King Nothing,Frantic and St.Anger but thats all
How fucking cool! Metallica rules man. Even when big, they're still not fancy.
Kirk:" That guy was quite good I think we should kick James"
Lars: "Yeah I agree James your out"
James: "You gotta be kidding"
love it! nice job bro, it aint easy to sing Metallica
that kid is like "They are lucky to be on stage with me"
Better vocals than on the original recording.
i love that part 6:20 or something.. he sings bad but mother of god, i'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealoooouus!! james, me, singing.. sharing mic... oh my god... it will be fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol. kind of sounds like a pissed of Randy Marsh. It's great that to this day, Metallica still lets their fans on stage every now and then.
James: What song you know the lirycs you want to sing?
Fan: I know only The Mechanix.
He sure looks happy! And so do James 'cause he knows the guy wants to scream with happiness :D But Jason... Well... "A bad idea man... A bad idea...". :D
@mrsatanicbassist Their last Tharsh Metal album was And Justice for All, The Black Album was heavy metal, Load, Reload, and St.Anger were hard rock, while Death Magnetic was "suppose" to be thrash metal, but nothing compare to kill em all to and justice for all...in other words, after cliff died they sell out their genre
so fucking awesome
ok, i'm jealous :D
such a lucky bastard
Hahahaha Jason is like "Only if you know the lyrics" his face is like "hes going to fuck up everything" hahahah
James approve with his smile
Seriously..... I bet it feels amazing........
i would be so nervous my mind would draw a blank for the opening lyrics hahaha
that takes some guts to get up there.. thumbs up for him!
Of course James knew it, they were just having some fun and wanted the fan to come up. And yeah Jason didn't have a problem with him
I love this guy
@FloroSapien it keeps his hand from bleeding, i read this in a interview in the so what magazine.
The second vocal of James is almost so good as Jason second vocal !!
Jason and James are like: Waat? why do we have to play with this guy?
James is whishing he still had this kind of vocals xD
That place looks damn awesome for a concert
hey, it must be cool to have james doing background vocals while you sing!!!
Lucky!
He is a great singer!
this wasn't a "who's the best singer" kind of thing, the kid's just someone from the audience. Getting up onstage with the lords of metal in front of maybe 10-20 million tv watchers knowing you cant sing takes balls
this was sick !
@plish69 nope bass should be louder than guitar lots of songs like rush is amazing and geddy lees bass is louder than the guitar in concert
He did a pretty good job :D
That was pretty good I must say - with some training from a voal teacher or whatever he'd make awesome backing vocals, or even lead singer!
Jason... is... PISSED!!! I would be too if some random guy was chosen to sing after years of abused from other band members.
he fucking nailed it what a beast
Sounds like Gothenburg 1987 vocals
Not at all, bro. What the hell.
Creeping death has never been more heavy
LMAO jason at 0.51 "this is a fucking bad idea"
Probably the best the day of his whole life.
@SCOEN yeah you're right, I'd probably be way too excited and slurr the whole thing haha!
awesome job!!! soo cool
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
if I were therr I wouldn't remember anything :S
I think i just would smile at them :D
"im sent here by the choosen one.." yeah..thats rite bro.. ahahaha
I have the cd of this concert and its awesome ^^
17 people are jealous as they were never chosen
he definently has the growl to do backing vocals.
yea i agree
@xBOMBxTRACKx well yea i kinda liked his vocals, maybe its the fact he didn't warm up?
hes not bad !! prettty good actually :D
Guitar tone. Is Sccratcchy digitally. Effected??
He's pretty damn good too.
@TheTaylorBarrett yeah, but i would like that if i were playing with my idols
O MY GOD! this dude is so fucking LUCKY
lucky bastard
he didnt do bad. i like how Jason made sure he knew the lyrics so that no one messed up the song. He really hates when people care less about music than him... What? too soon?
Good job Dude!this song is not easy to sing..well done!
@DeFragMenTz Sadly, I think you are right.
