Onya Zoe, bad training sessions can be super demoralising but there’s always lessons to learn from losing. Enjoy the Christmas break and you’ll be back smashing squash in the new year 💪

Hi Zoe, randomly stumbled across your channel while looking for squash tips. Been playing twice now haha. I come from a tennis background, so safe to say these two aren't quite the same. Nearly sprained my ankle trying to avoid a collision with the wall lol. Moving to a new place/location is always tough. I moved all over the show from syd to melbourne to tassie to brissy and now GC. For me, the thing I miss is my friends that you make along the way. So I had to overcome a lot of my emotions coming to terms with that. The holiday season is particular bad for me, since everyone has some place to go or visit. But I am sure you will be doing just fine. Congrats on your engagement.

Thank you, I’m lucky I haven’t moved too far from family and friends, that would be hard! Hope you had a nice Christmas and New Year! 😊

Hi Zoe, on the squash side of things, I’ve come to believe more and more that things that are going on in my life can affect my game or just the way I feel on the court and so on. In a perfect world of course we would be able to walk on court and leave everything else behind, but not all of us can easily just switch like that I suppose. Maybe only the top pro players :)
Even little things like I remember one time I had a grand final match and I had a good day at work and so on, and as I was leaving home to go to the courts everyone in my house said “see you later, good luck!” (they often just ignore me LOL), and anyway I went out and had one of my best matches ever. It just stuck with me how I felt in that situation.
And some days are just flat. I had good winning matches last week on 2 days in a row, but had a hit today after work and just felt flat and lacking energy.
Anyway, my point is I guess don’t give up, take a break when you feel you need it, and when you’re settled into new routines etc, and come back stronger for it!

Thank you so much for this!
I totally agree, it is hard to switch off when playing and how you feel really does affect how you play.
      Appreciate the support 😊
