  • After a massive stroke eight years ago, Kevin Eubanks, of Paragould, Ark., lost the ability to use his left arm - and he has missed hugging with both arms ever since. Now, four occupational therapy students at Arkansas State University have gotten together to invent a piece of adaptive equipment to allow Eubanks to hug his grandchildren again. Correspondent Steve Hartman reports.

I am an occupational therapist, and this makes me even more proud of my chosen profession. This is what we do: OT at its best!

My father had 3 massive strokes, it's a miracle he's alive. He could barely talk until his friend and him ate psychedelic mushrooms. He came home and was talking almost perfectly after 3 massive strokes! We still can't believe how much the mushrooms helped my dad.

I was thinking the same thing, but we'd probably get very dehydrated from all the tears that we would shed. 🧡

My mother in law would benefit from one of these! I hope these women start a business. I would love to purchase one! Maybe a start on Etsy or something. If it happens, please let us know.

Brilliant! Be sure to patent and copyright with a very good attorney. University of Arkansas law school has faculty that teach this aspect of law and could probably give you attorney referrals. Wishing all of you the very best

I've been looking for this story! Thank you for the additional information in the description! My husband suffered a stroke at the age of 27 that caused him to lose all functionality in his right arm. He's now 32 and we got married this past February. We had a small ceremony with a tiny reception. We plan on having a bigger ceremony next year and the hugger strap they made for this gentleman would make our first dance special knowing he wouldn't have to hold his right arm in place the whole time. I'd like to reach out to ASU and see if I could hopefully pay for them to make another one ❤️

They are occupational therapy students, not nursing students! The forgotten field where we help people do what is meaningful and purposeful to them! Not just exercises! Hurray for these students and our OT profession!

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to remember that WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS, and encourage and reinforce this THROUGHOUT the society.
It is impossible and you cannot give the necessary reinforcement to influence others to lay down their life for freedom, until you ENSURE that they understand that THIS is freedom - not some twisted profit model.
