    hi gerry its donal when working with the kverneland mower the correct way to use it is when mowing a field of silage you have to have it in the pressure position as it floats nicely

    I have that model mower and I have always (last 3 seasons) used it in the full float position on my john deere that is the remote lever all the way forward which you know and never had an issue. I performed the exact same lifting test as per kvernelands manual and everything seems to be spot on hope it helps

    Push the leaver all the way forward in to float that will release the pressure in the system and let the mower ride along the ground nicely

    Gerry flick the little black latch up on the spool lever slot and push it all the way forward into float, then no pressure goes to the rams and it floats properly

    Hi Gerry... we have a 10foot Malone with the very same bed and suspension as yours... we are told from the man that made the mower to fully extend the rams and leave your spool in neutral. Not in float. And no constant pumping. But in the middle if that makes sense... hope that helps..

    We always run our kverneland mower in neutral and floats brilliant along the ground

    I'd err on the side a caution Ger!!…..All the way forward sounds wrong to me.....sure when ya let the mower down the flipping springs take over and the weight of the bed and the mower frame are your pressure or weight.....oil temp would go high and higher again cause of swarther aswell as pto !!!!!
    Only reason to put any lever in full would be for likes of constant pump/return like a block splitteror a hedge cutter or maybe a fusion baler etc..... I mowed with a few Deere mowers in my time and never put em full down for the job...once I dropped the mower I brought it back to centre or (no pressure)…. dunno….. maybe new type mowers are different lad!!! Stay safe amigo!!

    I've always run mowers In float. All you can do is call the kverneland dealer as you say.

    Would be the first mower I know of that needs pressure. Id be in float position. The weight over the mower bed will keep it down unless the springs aren't set right. Plus I wouldn't want to break my hydraulic system on the tractor!

    Nice one Gerry you know your machine you should know how to use it as you said you don't really want pump running if it doesn't need to be
    What the size? Are you happy with it so for?

    I've always ran mowers in float on the tractor let's the oil move freely from tractor to mower so it can float along while cutting

    The comment on the last video meant that when you are mowing you put the leaver all the way forward Into float and not pumping or neutral , as then it can move freely , however most mowers have springs that let it do that in neutral aswell👍 so you can do it both way , when I’m raking I put the leaver in float as I know the rotors can move up or down freely

    In the kverneland you have to pressure the rams and then leave in in neutral,, not in float like all other mowers as if you look at the top of the ram it has a slot to float only when it is extended fully . I have one and have 10000 bales cut this season with it great mower if it only had quick change for the flails and not studs..

    Are the skirts giving any trouble on the mower

  • @adamsandrew5587
    @adamsandrew5587 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure on the JD but on the New Holland you have pressure, neutral and float (fully forward) on each spool regardless of manual or electric. Neutral doesn't pump oil but the oil doesn't return from the ram - it holds it on position. Float removes all pressure, letting gravity ir a spring do it's thing. Logic says your mower can't float with the ground if the tractor is pumping oil or of pressure is being held in the ram

    It's faster dropping the bed with pressure that letting it float down when working. DO NOT LEAVE IT PUMPING

    Jesus Gerry when you're mowing push the lever out to the very last into float not neutral not pumping if you leave the lever pumping it won't be long before you'll be replacing your hydraulic pump and maybe more

  • @user-qj2ge5hz4d
    @user-qj2ge5hz4d 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Gerry, you shouldn't leave your hydraulics pumping while mowing,
    This mower is unusual as it has a double acting ram for raising and lowering the bed. The comment that you received refered to leaving the lever in float,
    I think float or neutral will be fine but definitely not pressure as you most certainly will damage hydraulic pumps and overheat the back end.

    My only comment/ experience was we where told to run a large JD forage harvester with the hydraulics on constant pumping for the chute controlls, 2 failed finale drive bearings later the dealer admitted that was wrong.

    Take over your latch so u can put the spool right the way forward then there is no pressure so it can go where it likes

  • @hsagri69
    @hsagri69 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Iv always run a mower in float. Agree with you it doesn't seem right to have it in constant pump

    Once you lower the mower down cutting position you place the hydraulic lever back into neutral. Hydraulic rams are not meant to have pressure applied to them all of the time or else seals would eventually burst. There is also the untold damage pumping all of the time would do to a tractor. There is not an implement on the market that requires full time hydraulic pressure applied all of the time.

    Put the lever in to float Gerry and u will be sorted but u are better to ask the dealer as u would hope he knows what he is talking about 😂

  • @joshs30
    @joshs30 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Push the lever right forward into float which will release the pressure and make the mower float, dont have it in the first forward position otherwise it will stay pumping.

    Leave lever in float.On a Massey you push the lever all the way forward past constant pumping.Neutral isn't float,at least on the masseys,never drove a Deere mowing but presume it's similar

    Push your lever in the float position push it as far away from you as possible when the rams are fully extended the tractor should not be pumping oil in that position

    No its not left one push foward thats constant pumping, u have to push it all the way foward to float position in all the johndeere 20 serious u will hear a click

      U have to lift up the stoppers at the front of the spool

    Why would Kverneland design the super float system to work independently of the hydraulics but then you have to have the hydraulics in float mode , defo not pumping . Makes more sense they way Gerry was using it , have the hydraulics in neutral and let the springs do the work they were designed for .

  • @davie2606
    @davie2606 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    No, I never said that. That's not the float position of the lever, you need to push it through another notch.

    Well i have no idea who would say that you should leave it in the pressure position, dumbest thing i ever heard. Either center position or float!
