- In 1757 Thomas Simpson opened Simpson's Tavern making it the City of London's oldest chophouse. Simpson's Tavern is one of London's oldest restaurants and pubs renowned for its classic British food. It might be Friday but I get the best English Sunday Roast dinner.

How can anyone believe that there is a more beautiful city on this earth?!!! Staggeringly beautiful! It caresses the eye at every turn, as this video proves. And on top of that, the lunch looked delicious!

Daniel Hammond London is pretty and all, but it pales in comparison to St Petersburg. Also outside of the central areas, London is probably one of the most visibly depressing cities I've ever seen.
jonybeam been to all three, couldn't agree more about Paris! It's ok when the sun is shining, but once it's gone - gloomy as hell. St Petersburg i love dearly) historical center is very beautiful indeed, no wonder as it has been built to show it's best side) Yet imo no city beats London! It is enchanting and fascinating in every season and weather. Hope to go there again soon)

The thing I like about London these days is how squeaky clean the streets are like Disneyland.That has not always been the case.The food looks excellent as usual.(And the beer).

DO NOT GO WHERE HE SUGGESTS ATS, THERE ARE FAR CHEAPER CAFES, HE GOES TO RIPP OFF OUTLETS..
I’ve been eating at Simpson’s since 1986, love the place, nothing’s changed in that time. The best is a steak, bubble and squeak, with a fried egg on top, bottle of port. Don’t bother to go back to the office.
That's the 'Happy Ever After' menu option. The Bubble and Quest comes with medieval armour and a damsel in distress to rescue. Bit of a lengthy lunch tbh, and you're given a tetanus shot as a starter, but you sure work off any calories.
I’m looking to going to London in mid spring in 23, I could use an amazing tour guide. I just saw that it my be closing soon!!

I used to eat here in the 80's and 90's. On a Friday lunch time the queue would go for miles, it is a sign of the times that you could walk in and get a table. Staples are Scampi and Bacon to start, chump chop (lamb) bubble and squeak, grilled tomato washed down with a pint or two of Bass. Spotted Dick and custard for pudding then stewed cheese on toast with a glass of port. Didn't make it back to work in the afternoon. That was when the City was fun; there used to be a hierarchy as to who could eat in the ground floor Grill Room and the upstairs restaurant. You had to be a regular/old-timer to eat in the Grill Room . Amazingly I still weigh 11 1/2 stone!

Good thing I'm watching this just before I cook my dinner as that is making me very hungry. I used to work in the city in Moorgate when I was a teenager (many moons ago) and we used to go to a pub down a side street for lunch, can't remember what is was called, it used to be buzzing at lunch time and the food was great.

Interesting. Normally, in the USA you could not use the same brand name for 2 completely different restaurants like "Simpson's" even if it is modified by "in the Strand" vs. "Tavern city of London", unless they were owned by the same corporation or part of a restaurant "chain". But then again, you are not in New York City , or Chicago, etc. are you?

Geez, you're forgetting that we're seeing this all for the first time. Slow the camera down a bit so we can see something. Your videos are so fast that they're meaningless to us that want to see the sights.
Always thought that Simpson’s would be a lot more pretentious now might even give it a go on my next trip... Could be I was thinking of Simpson’s in the Strand.....
