Gotta get out of the mindset of cheap parts man. It's one thing with stock cars or beaters. But once you start tuning and setting up a lot more power. You only end up hurting yourself. Spark plugs are one of those things that you need to respect. Whether it's tighter intervals and or not buying the cheapest plug you can find. This is a pay to play game. Hopefully it's not major.
especially spark plugs, they aren't even expensive, get nickel copper core ngks in the right heat range (best for tuned cars, platinum isn't as good) and you're golden for probably 15k+ miles
@@houseking9211 I run Denso 5749 non projected tip racing plugs in my FBO E85 IS38 GTI. Not cheap. But after having a strap break off and taking my original motor with it. (The EA888.3 TSI is known to eat projected tip plugs when tuned). I'm not wanting an encore. Hence going with the really costly non projected tip plugs.
@@Peylix definitely does depend on the car. I have an 02 saab 9-5 aero, and people with forged pistons and rods will push 500 wheel on 5$ per plug 8 heat range NGKs
I did the same thing, got a huge backfire and ended up running rough as hell and slowly died. Couldnt get it to start again, I could feel myself turn pale. It ended up being high oil pressure and no catch can so plugs got covered in oil. You can pull both trailing plugs and crank for a sound test (pull fuel pump relay), they should sound the same on the air swishs. Took me an an hour of cranking and cleaning plugs to get it started but i vent to atmosphere and zero problems, hope it's not the worst case in this situation.

Autolite plugs have gotten bad because a few years ago they moved their manufacturing to shotty Chinese plants entirely. NGKs are still known to be good.
Ahha yes the highs and lows of a rotary owner. If the engine is blown its an opportunity to build it better the oem. New seals and housings and making it stronger 💪.
