In this video, I’m going to show you how to crimp RJ45 mod plugs using the regular crimps and the passthrough crimps. This is a touchy subject for some, so I’m going to be "Switzerland" and show you both ways. If you enjoy these videos and want to support LVN, please subscribe, hit the notification bell, and

I’m Blake, the founder of Low Voltage Nation: the place where we help people carve out a fulfilling career path in low voltage and technology. If you’re looking to learn some basic crimping skills this video is for you, so let’s get started:
    Regular Crimps
I prefer the Klein Tools RJ45/RJ11 crimping tool. These are heavy-duty and reliable for thousands of crimps.
I am going to do the TIA568B pattern which is fairly common. I recommend using B unless otherwise specified. Some telcos and other countries use A, so make sure you’re following spec.
I’m using high-quality Superior Essex CAT6 which is very easy to untwist and straighten out
    Passthrough
Go Simply Connect makes a very solid pair of passthrough crimps. Some people are much quicker with these and also if you have poor eyesight, it helps confirm color coding.
We have the largest Low Voltage Facebook group, which is free, but we also have a smaller group of professionals with access to discounts, training, digital marketing, networking, meetups, and more!
    Thank you so much! Peace!
