So I realize it may not be what it is meant for, but using this I got that a wind traveling at 20 mph would cause a force of approximately 4.31 lbs on a sousaphone with a bell diameter of 32 inches.
Excellent video!!! ...What will happen if the sign is at an angle with respect to the wind direction? what will be the area? In your example here, the sign is perpendicular to the wind direction....Thanks.
Just an FYI....Chicago has there own requirements for windloaded structures - which is 30PSF for any sign up to 50 feet in height. To everyone: before you start engineering signs check the local jurisdiction on what codes are to be followed. They vary across the country.
I'm designing a sun-tracking solar panel system, so this video is the kind of info that I needed.
Great video. Thanks.
You are a very good teacher. This is clear, to the point, and effective.
Thank you !
you're a lifesaver .. thank you so much
You deserve a medal ....well done
Will use these for building actual signs. Thank you.
How do we calculate the wind or earthquake forces acting at the joints of columns and beams of concrete or steel frames?

where is that I = 0.87 coming from?
Excellent explanation
Sir. Which book did you use to find Kz= 085 ??
what happens if the sign is not attached to the pole on one side, but in the middle of the sign ?
Martin Quevedo I guess pretty much the same since the pole isn't very thick
excellent
hi, can I ask what bridge that is in your display picture? it looks nice.
Hi Josh, its a photo of a footbridge I designed 4 years ago- Tied arch construction.
+Engineers MIStructE nice, I'm looking to get into university this year to study civil engineering. Any tips or advice you could share?
Thank you sir
where is the chapter 2?
How can I design of a sign column which are having 10m height?
Plz reply me quickly?
