What I do with this trick is ignore the perdition aspect and let them pick a card in their head, then find that.
what would you do if they lift their hand and you tell them to get rid of those, and they go "oh no, i wanted to keep those"?
the first time when you put the cards back in the case after letting them shuffle, I just thought the force card was left in the case. so people could shuffle as much as the want, the force card would always be at the bottom of the deck once you put the deck back into the case. ;)

Soo... If you're doing this with the plastic wrap on why not put the 3 of clubs in sharpie on the box itself and just put dry erase on the cellophane wrapping? I suppose you could use this method with a new deck, but then you'd have to find a way to marker swap without them seeing...
Maybe you could tell them why your doing the weird little swirl pattern as a distraction while you swap, but you'd still want another dry erase that looks like the permanent.
shwood i got silly idea to add to this trick.... can you look into it? lol id do /test it myself but i cant magic if my life depended on it lol
it would be better if you took your glass off the mat and put the pack upside down on that spot so the moisture from the glass on the mat will help you erase the marker.
Could you draw the 3 of clubs on the paper of the box, and then draw the 8 of spades on the plastic? That way you don't have to worry about accidentally drawing over the permanent marker.
On the closers where're you sell the answer for a beer how often do people say no and what should you do then

Well you can either just tell them with laughter "okay well then just toast me" and reveal,
or then you can just say ok no reveal for you.

What if you draw the finish result with the permanent marker from inside the selofan, and mark everything again from outside with the erasable marker?

Love the false cuts at 1:22 and 1:26.... however, I can see that the card on bottom is the 8 of clubs, not spades... so perhaps the 8 of spades is on top? either way, great cardsmanship brian :P

Too much work plus I have a Pet Peeve about being wrong before being right because many people's attention span is not long enough to remember that you were eventually right (ie: Richard Jewell. Making this comment because I'm too lazy to see if someone else made it first:
How about putting the 3♣ on the box under the cellophane, then putting the 8♠ on the cellophane over it? While the trick is going on, fidget with the box, realize you 'accidentally' pulled off the cellophane, and throw it away. Or if you go with dry erase on the 8, you can erase the whole thing and not be careful how was applied.
And possibly use a napkin with "spilled" drink to wipe the 8 off. Again, the alcohol won't affect the 3 because it is under the cellophane.

What if the person kept bottom dealing more than 1 card after the bottom deal. How does the 3 come to the top?
The participant will draw cards from the top at the beginning, so the 3 goes from the top to the bottom immediately. Everything else is garnish.
What if you rubbed your finger across the pack and erase all of the expo marker..

Brian went over that in the video. You act like that's what you wanted. If it's the pile that the card is in, then you pretend that they're raising their hand to KEEP the pile. If it's NOT, then you act like you wanted them to DISCARD the pile.

You could test it in the bathroom after a hot shower, while keeping the door closed. This will give you very humid conditions to test, but not the heat from sunlight with high humidity, but it's an idea that may be useful.
