What you mean is that they are custom and thus look less blocky. The "modern bikes" you deride have so much potential to look good, but the process of modifying bikes like those is a lot more complicated given the intricate frame design, and complex body panels and fuel tank geometry. Look at the work of max hazan of hazan motorworks. His kmt is just as gorgeous as his Enfield bullet.

I now ride a yamaha sport bike. I started on a 1200 sportster. The only bikes I ever saw broke down on the shoulder were harleys. My own harley broke down once or twice, and I'm quite the gear head so I was always on top of maintenance. My yamaha has been problem-free. the fuel injection makes it run real smoothly, the electronics are superb, the ride quality is great. The sportster i had shook and rattled and was far from smooth.
But I still miss that sportster. Harleys aren't really the greatest in terms of reliability, but as for character, and class, and soul, I really can't think of any other manufacturer that does it quite like harley davidson. I'm getting another japanese bike soon, but I definitely have my sights on another harley in my future!

This is the reason i bought a old sportster. I want to fix things :) My past 3 bikes has been brand new yamahas, boring to never have to do anything to it. Not even service due to getting service stamps from shop hehe. Always fun to change things up a bit. Oh, the bikes is my only way of transporting my self so this will get interesting :)

Just noticed the exhaust and the carb being on the same side is flaw. Not a Harley fan so I never thought about it.
Having a harley is good, but having a harley with perfectly tuned carb and a potato sound muffs is the best.

I saw a guy riding a HD with tall ape hangers. I don't get it. The only reason that l can think of to do that to a bike is to get attention. Can anyone here enlighten me?

The ape hangers are a style thing. My arms would fall asleep 10 minutes into my ride! Even if I wanted the look, I couldn’t do it. Unless you’re 7’, you won’t convince me it’s for comfort!
But just because someone likes the look doesn’t mean they’re looking for attention. Part of what I love about bikes is making them your own.
And like 3 out of all of them look like he had any experience riding, good lookin bikes though.
