I hope his voice lines are more tolerable than milio's. If I have to listen to another child talk about how much they love and appreciate the world and their family and how everything is awesome I'm going to neck.

Perfect english is totally normal. They are also different languages in Runeterra but still everyone speaks english for obvious reasons. Dragon will also have there Own language, cause theyre intelligent, so it makes sense to let them speak english for same reason. But i agree with the face part. I understand why they did it, cause its harder to fit a personality into a character that has no human traits and if they can they are mostly just scary (Reksai, Khazix) but yeah. Still think hes cute though.

I guess the questions that remains is... why is Smolder capable of human speech while their mom is not and why is Smolder's face very humanized, lacking an elongated snout/jaw, again, unlike their mother? Maybe their father is a different kind of dragon or maybe they are leaning into that Human/Dragon relationship they somewhat have done with Jarvan IV and Shyvana. Other than that, they really are trying to reel in the Spyro fans with this one.
He can speak because his father is human if you look at his first character announcement it says he is of royal decent so if you know who is of royal status in the league universe it's easy to narrow down who it might possibly be
I wonder if their art director and community manager have good communication at all, the player base in general is clearly unhappy about how this character looks, and yet I don't see Riot addressing this. *Edit* I have heard Riot is fixing Smolder's face, I'm very happy to know they DO LISTEN to their players and community, thank you Riot! 🥰
They chose the most independent low budget animations studio main protagonist looking design and gave it a voice and personality to match. All that's missing is him being awed by everything and clumsy. Also dense as the bottom of the sea.
I can't really add to what has already been said. The little excitement I had for a new dragon champion is immediately dampened by the kid voice. And I also think that they should have leant more into the dragon aesthetic instead of uncanny valley with the human traits
Him talking to his mom reminds me of Chomper's interaction with his parents back in The Land Before Time movies. The kid spoke english but the parents just roared but at least they gave us subtitles to understand the parents when they showed up again in the 5th movie. XD But Smolder is Spyro but with his body red.

Pretty sure they've announced that skarner is next after smolder. And VGUs take longer than new champions, it takes longer to find ways to do it while keeping their mains happy than making something from scratch. Not to mention updating all of their skins at the same time... skarner hasnt taken longer than the other VGUs

Normally I love dragons, especially the chance to play as one, but really not sure what to make of this. edit: the eyes are the strangest part, to me.. if it had eyes like other dragons in League then maybe the face wouldn't feel as odd. It's definitely the humanoid eyes that are making this go from strange-but-still-kinda-cute to creepy and uncanny. Would love to see the idea work, truly- but something's just 'off' as-is.

Comparing with Yuumi is a fair take, but lore wise, while Yuumi makes sense, a speaking dragon is not. There is a bunch of different pure dragons in LoR (even in lol there are 7), and none of them speak, they are literally monsters. Yuumi is from Bandle City, which is like a separate dimension, and it is like a fairy tale. These are all makes sense, a speaking baby dragon with human like face not. But we should wait for his lore, maybe they will explain it.

I hope it's not tied to his levels. From all I know he's supposed to be an ADC. But ADCs have, through most ranks, among the lowest EXP and thus levels in the game. So, tying his power to levels will just mean that people take him to top or mid where he gains more levels or that he'll be pro jailed, as the supports in high elo more often leave their ADC alone so ADCs in high elo typically have more levels than in low elo.

Riot not only won't give that to us, they shut down at least 4 fan projects that were attempting to do just that, one of which was nearly finished and they stole and used code from it. Riot silenced and buried these projects by any means necessary. Posts and threads were forcibly deleted, accounts were banned, and more/worse. They didn't go about this in a legit manner either, they did some shady shit (and as mentioned stole and used original code among other deplorable methods). All of this and more, plus lack of Linux support, decreases in quality, bad "balancing", tampering with the meta, greed, laziness, spaghetti code, a bad client, and etc. are why I gave up on this game. Lots of games, companies, developers, communities, publishers, series, franchises, and etc. have gone downhill over the years but none quite like this one. I'd say Riot has had the most uniquely self-destructive and toxic downfall despite peak player counts, popularity, esports, revenue, potential, and their clear aspirations for a bigger picture if they intended to make an MMO (though their sabotaging any hopes they have for short-term gains).
@@Zladnyli still don't understand how people still play the game. The meta did not change in 4 years, there are a ton of champions but the only ayable ones are like 40 still. And all this new champions doesn't make any sense, they are all hit or miss. They even made the new 2v2 game mode, but it's probably the worst thing in the game yet, at least is something new, but at the same time, you can't do a 2v2 game mode on a 5v5 game. There are so many broken champions that you need an entire team to beat, while in 2v2 you just wait for your death, and yes I'm talking to everyone who picks swain in that game mode, really funny yeah.
If he's in a twisted background like having a human father? Or a transmuted birth that makes him human-faced, because they want a highly intelligent dragon as a weapon, maybe I'll take it. I think his color palatte and huge ears are nice but i would like his face and snout to be more dragoney. Controversial take but if yuumi can be a champion, he definitely can. Im not opposed to talking animal characters, but i would like to see his dragon features pushed more. Bigger eyes and longer snout and such

Comparing with Yuumi is a fair take, but lore wise, while Yuumi makes sense, a speaking dragon is not. There is a bunch of different pure dragons in LoR (even in lol there are 7), and none of them speak, they are literally monsters. Yuumi is from Bandle City, which is like a separate dimension, and it is like a fairy tale. These are all makes sense, a speaking baby dragon with human like face not. But we should wait for his lore, maybe they will explain it.

If they wanted him more antropomorphic he could be a kid dragon that turns into human or vice versa (a DK from Dota kind of thing), better than having this uncanny valley face. D&D dragons always had the ability to turn into humans and speak like humans, so is not like that would be new to Dragon lore.

But still I'm glad theyre adding more non-human champs, and that he obviously isn't JV.

Like I can just imagine the team wanting to make a dragon champion only for the execs to turn around and say "fine you can have a monster champion but they gotta be appealing to a large audience" and since we already have sexy dragon lady Shyvana they went the other direction and made a cute Disney character

From all I know he's supposed to be an ADC. But ADCs have, through most ranks, among the lowest EXP and thus levels in the game. So, tying his power to levels will just mean that people take him to top or mid where he gains more levels or that he'll be pro jailed, as the supports in high elo more often leave their ADC alone so ADCs in high elo typically have more levels than in low elo.

Riot not only won't give that to us, they shut down at least 4 fan projects that were attempting to do just that, one of which was nearly finished and they stole and used code from it.
Riot silenced and buried these projects by any means necessary. Posts and threads were forcibly deleted, accounts were banned, and more/worse. They didn't go about this in a legit manner either, they did some shady shit (and as mentioned stole and used original code among other deplorable methods).
All of this and more, plus lack of Linux support, decreases in quality, bad "balancing", tampering with the meta, greed, laziness, spaghetti code, a bad client, and etc. are why I gave up on this game.
Lots of games, companies, developers, communities, publishers, series, franchises, and etc. have gone downhill over the years but none quite like this one.
I'd say Riot has had the most uniquely self-destructive and toxic downfall despite peak player counts, popularity, esports, revenue, potential, and their clear aspirations for a bigger picture if they intended to make an MMO (though their sabotaging any hopes they have for short-term gains).
@@Zladnyli still don't understand how people still play the game. The meta did not change in 4 years, there are a ton of champions but the only ayable ones are like 40 still. And all this new champions doesn't make any sense, they are all hit or miss. They even made the new 2v2 game mode, but it's probably the worst thing in the game yet, at least is something new, but at the same time, you can't do a 2v2 game mode on a 5v5 game. There are so many broken champions that you need an entire team to beat, while in 2v2 you just wait for your death, and yes I'm talking to everyone who picks swain in that game mode, really funny yeah.
