  • In this video, I will show by request the results of this Luiton LT-598UV 75 watt mobile, which is identical to the BTech UV50X2 and some others that look identical. Actual output of this unit on my meters is 80+ watts. Comes with everything you would expect like programming cable/software, backlit DTMF mic and mounting bracket. And less than the BTech model.

    I believe the qyt kt-980plus is this same radio with a different name sticker and it's about $10 less than the one linked with a programing cable included.

    I'm getting 77 out on 145 on my Btech uv50x2 and about 35 on 440. So really not that much difference other than some engineering tweaks. It's a hot radio on high power, but works fine. My suggestion, affix another cooling fan to the heat sink because the primary fan falls short of preventing thermal shutdown for extended qso's. Really customizable if you're into that.
    Other than that they are good radios for the money. I paid 166.00. Btech support was very professional when I had issue, but immediately sent another rig and all is good.
    Nice review btw.

    I have the B-Tech UV50X2 and its a great little rig, it fits nice into the little slot on the dash of my '02 Ram nicely. I love the front data port....I change my load out like some people change socks depending on what I'm doing, In the summer I load in local repeaters and the VHF marine band due to my proximity to Lake Erie, on occasion I use it for railfanning and of course load in the AAR 1-97 and some of the telemetry freques. The only downside that I've noticed is that SOMETIMES on scan mode, everything is good, but when I back out of scan, it'll receive on the last frequency scanned, so a quick reboot is needed. Otherwise they're killer radios.

    This is not the same as our UV-50X2; off the bat - the UV-50X2 is FCC Part 15B Approved (you most likely were provided false information from those who requested the review).
    You can see this is also found in our 60 menus (versus the generic 50).
    We take a factory level product - and self engineer the software to met FCC emissions; as well as supporting and selling from the US. They may 'claim' they have what we have, to make a quick buck - they do not.
    We engineer our own firmware on our radios. We set our receiver and transmitter to be tuned at US amateur bands (a side by side 220MHz test on our UV-25X4 to 'the others' will show immediately that our receiver is 220 fine-tuned - and those other radios are completely deaf and tuned for Asia (240))
    Other immediate differences not found in the generics:
    Dual Synchronize Display Mode (Synchronize Up to 2 Channels)
    Mic Audio Gain Settings
    Expanded Frequency Range (520MHz)
    USA written user's guide
    Auto Power Off Function
    Channel Mode Editing Settings (edit tones, etc on saved channels in Memory mode)
    Auto Scan, Scanning Resume, and Variable Frequency Scanning
    Quad Watch Delay Time: Allows the receiver to stay on the secondary channel longer after incoming transmission - customize the delay up to 50 seconds; This avoids manually channel switching when you are engaged with simultaneous contacts on two frequencies
    Randomization Privacy Mode

      I'm glad you chimed in.... I was wondering what the difference was between your UV50X2 as compared to the QYT KT-980PLUS... I guess at the end of the day the extra $20 for your UV50X2 really isn't a bad deal...

    • @1OFGODSOWN
      @1OFGODSOWN 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most all of the UV-50X2 radios are putting out 70 watts or more on high power & around 30 to 35 watts on low power.So really no big difference.I own the UV-50X2 & it is a great little radio with a lot of great features with the 60 menu adjustments.I listened to the radio on another radio when set on the Wide & Narrow settings & it sounds great either way. {:>)

  • @duaneshuster6366
    @duaneshuster6366 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not bad for the price seemed to test out ok.
    The good: Higher RF output,
    & a S meter wow!
    The Bad : The heatsink should be on top looks like they went backwards on the look of radio
    but it is done, not being able to select single band read out but that's the present design.
    For a dual band china radio not bad. Twin band radios with two Vols & two squelch designs need to be standard with the ability to have vhf 200 bank and 200 bank for UHF separate groups not mixed together or ability to set it that way increased readouts be cool too, the size is desirable. Good video Review.

    Do you (or anyone here know of a good am/fm/uhf/swr transceiver, emergency radio type? It would be nice to communicate with relatives coast to coast. If there is one with a dynamo that would be great. Chat with relatives coast to coast.

    • @steveallison7950
      @steveallison7950 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I assume you are referring to the United States coast to coast. The short answer is no, you won't find an all-in-one, small, emergency style radio for that distance of communication. To (somewhat) reliably make the leap across country, you will need a ham radio license and a high frequency (HF) radio and decent antenna. There are great ham radios that are portable that with decent conditions could meet this function (e.g. Elecraft KX3 or Yaesu FT817 come to mind). However, these are dedicated ham radios. They dont have the other specs you mentioned. It also takes a little practice with ham radio to make those kinds of contacts. It is definitely not a simple turn on and talk situation. It is not THAT hard though can be super fun though, so I would encourage you to check it out if interested.

    • @w8one
      @w8one 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your dummy load should be a perfect 50 ohm termination that should be 1.0 to 1 or perfect match no reflected power. It is also possible that the radio is causing a reflection meaning it is not working correctly. testing multiple radio, meter, dummy load / antenna combinations will give you the answer.
