Yahya Bello did not just steal from Kogi people. The money came from the resource revenue of Rivers State!
If Nigeria's economy was decentralized, Kogi would've had to generate it's own wealth for Yahya Bello to find something to steal.
This is why we must urgently restructure Nigeria's economic system to be like the 'Regional' economy of colonial era, when there were miles of cocoa warehouses in the west, vast tracks of palm oil plantation in the east, massive groundnut pyramid in the North, as well as thriving mining industry in the Middle Belt.
Nigeria is practising over-centralized economic system that equalizes all the States in the federation, thereby, hindering advancement, and nationalizing poverty.
Nigeria's economic structure is the opposite of the practice in the US, Canada, and other advanced economies.
Decentralizing Nigeria's economic system will immediately diversify the economy, create economic opportunities, raise the value of Nigeria's currency, and rescue Nigeria from further descent into insecurity and chaos.
