The concentration and years of experience on getting that body line and those small spaces and gaps to perfection. A lot of patience. Awesome work, Claudio. Lori is also mastering the sanding awesome job. 👍👍👍🤙🤙🤙
It is really nice to see Kona going back together... piece by piece... and with a lot of love and care. Thanks for sharing this epic build/restoration. We owned a 73 bus when I was a teenager... and I loved that thing. We could fit EVERYTHING in there, especially our bikes... and it would always get better than 30 miles to the gallon. My Mom did all the maintenance and repair work on "Bertha" because her hands/fingers were small enough to fit in tight spaces, unlike my Step Dad's. We went camping... to the races...all sorts of places in Bertha... and my two older step sisters learned how to drive in Bertha. The oldest, Kim, I think is the one and only person in the world who managed to get the VW Bus to do a wheelie on an all-stock set up when she was learning to drive stick. Anyway, I'm really enjoying your uploads.
The attention to quality in every smallest detail, is simply astonishing! I can't believe it is possible to keep the energy up, and maintain the focus for such a long time.
Absolutely spot on, great bumper hidden tow hitch, was good to see old faces, Kona is looking great, can't wait for paint, Lori is a great sander, Hope you are both well
Very nice…I have been a auto body tech for 42 years…..and you are doing an amazing job….I can’t wait to see the final outcome. NOTE, check out Linear Blocks for sanding….I’m using them on my 60 Bug….game changer super straight and fast.
Hope you feel better buddy and can looking better won’t be much longer till will see it in primer getting ready for paint love how Lori gets right in there and helps
Your getting there! It takes time especially when you after all the little details. Kona will be sooo nice when he's done. I always like the videos Peace
Hi Lori & Mic, great progress👍🏻, nice fitting of the towbar Safari windows and more👏🏻, it looks like the end of the tunnel soon on the road-great Gyus🤗.be seeing you at the next vid🇺🇸.👍🏻🙏🏻🇳🇱🇳🇴☮🍀Greetings Hubertus
That's going so well! Excellent job by everyone! 🙂 How do you fancy building a trailer that looks like an extension of Kona? Bodywork, side doors, and windows that look very similar, but the rear hatch that although resembles Kona, covers the 'engine bay', which is no longer there! Flat floor would give room for a pair of bikes, or a narrow ATV, room for a couple of boards/skis, and perhaps some tools and/or spares, although a spare wheel could also be mounted on the front of Kona 2! 🙂
Hello Mike, Lori, & Our Fair Lady Kona❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰!! I’m filled with excitement seeing Kona’s transformation coming along nicely!! You all are amazing, taking such care to bring Her back to a better life. Mike, @ 38 minutes into the video, it looks like someone (I’m NOT talking about Lori & the Garage Gang) literally & figuratively “threw you under the bus” (😜😜😜😂😂😂😝😝😝), so to speak😁😁😁.
Hello, MicBergma, greetings!. My name is Adiel Nunes Ferreira. I'm from the city of São Caetano do Sul, state of São Paulo and I'm a fanatic fan of your TH-cam channel. I've been following the restoration of your Kona bus since you rescued it abandoned. I look forward to each chapter anxiously and can't wait to see it finished. Probably, at the present time, it should already be restored. Thank you for sharing these videos and I wish you much success with your new toy. I'm also deaf with 80% losses, but I'm oral and I use hearing aids. Sorry for my bad english. Hugs and success!.
Saludos!. Excelente trabajo que Robert, Claudio y ustedes han realizado para llevar a Kona a la perfección. Gracias por tus videos de los cuales eh aprendido mucho y me ayudarán a mejorar mi Van Volky la cual llamo "La Verdurera ".
y'all are doing one helluva job and it's fun to watch the progression. really curious to see what engine you drop in that thing. had a friend in the `70's that dropped a Porshe engine in one an it was a beast. first time he took me for a ride and went from 2nd to 3rd doing 70 remember looking over at him and sayin ya gotta be shittin me.
Mic, on the new exhaust since it's chrome you might wanna handle it with gloves or wipe thoroughly because the heat and body oil will discolor those spots (if I recall correctly on chrome). Very nice 👍
Mich ... locking washers go under the nuts ... flat washers go under the bolt heads ... just saying ... where do I look to see the final finished kona ??? All the best from the U.K.
42:08/ 43:28 question on that splash guard. Should you drill some holes in the metal, so it can drain properly due to water setting on the splash guard. Water could cause the Metal tray can rust in the long run if splash guard is not cleaned properly.
We need a bumper hitch to tow our motorcycle trailer, I was going to build my own but its got a single quiet pack exhaust, just where the hitch needs to be.
I had several vans and the one thing they had in common was underpowered engines. Pulling a trailer your top speed will be about 55 maybe good luck with that
I hope that they take AAA insurance work. With the quality of work that they do, I would not go anywhere else to take my VW 1988 Westfalia. Excellent care for detail and lots of patience. I hope it is not just because they are being filmed.

That hitch receiver is really a nice touch! It's nice that it supports the bumper too!

Wow, I was just thinking about Silverio and wondered how is has been. Then, less than 15 seconds later he shows up in this video!!

Surely this bus was finished at least a couple of years ago.

Can someone tell Kona to wear some kind of working boots while working in the shop ? Safety first kiddo.
And wear a net or tie your hair up. Please.
I hope Mustie1 makes the motor for them
😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🐭

I think this bus will be ready in 2035

Are you worried that it's going to be too perfect to drive or use every day when it's finished?
