It's amazing and wonderful that so many old homes are still standing. Crazy that the log cabin was INSIDE another building! Great video!

I'm going to have to put Salado on my bucket list. Looks like a great little piece of Texas waiting for me to discover. I really enjoyed all the historical buildings.

I love these! Thinking of moving to Texas. Grew up in Southern CA and worked here. Not the same place and I, like many, am looking at Texas. Would love someplace with interesting history. I was born in Kingsville, so maybe they’ll let me back in. 😉

This place is so special..I sincerely hope that it won’t ever be ruined by mass development and destruction.
It’s happened all over nearby Georgetown which used to be such a charming little Texas town, now it looks like everywhere else and so many old oaks and ranches are now gone. How can this be prevented so all generations can enjoy such beautiful Texas towns?

My family used to stop at Salado and stay at the Stagecoach Inn every summer for a few days on our way to Port Aransas in the late 60's. Such a beautiful place.

Really enjoy Salado and Barrow Brewery and Chupacabra. Take FM 2843 southwest to the Gault site and there are some stacked rocks as part of the sign, but I think you have to book a tour with the Bell County Museum. Take FM 2484 west for some great views at the transition into the hill country scenery overlooking Stillhouse Hollow Lake and there are nice parks all around the lake, especially Chalk Ridge Falls, Dana Peak, and Overlook Park in bluebonnet season.

I imagine they still have the Scottish Festival there. I drove down several years ago to spend the day. Enjoyed it very much, as I spent a year in Scotland.

I was told that when that building at 4:40 was a saloon all the towns women would take turns sitting outside to make the men too ashamed to go in. It worked from what I hear.

I live south of Salado in a lil town called Cameron. I've been to Salado a few times but am interested in exploring the story of buried gold there. I have the story stored away but none has reportedly found it yet.
