I think you are having an impact by creating these videos. The more people can learn about different ways of life, the more understanding and peace we can have in the world.

I love homeschooling, it took a few years to find something that really worked for our family and that journey included a year of private school for my boys as I tried to figure out what to do next.
My boys are Ezra and Nehemiah and I love how their personalities fit the historical figures from the Bible (Ezra is my bookish "scribe" and Nemi, pronounced Neh-me for short, is my hands on builder lol)
Homebirth is awesome and it's usually not what most people expect. It's way simpler than the hospital setting and if you have a professional midwife, you have medical assistance right in your own home, should it be necessary.
But if you've had great experiences in the hospital, cherish that 💖 I'm happy for you.

You are being a light outside your community with this channel. I admire the Amish and Mennonite communities. I appreciate your faithful, simple lifestyle and I think the world would be a better place if we all lived in a similar manner.

    Loved this!😍
Homebirths are definitely “my” the way to go. Had 3 an they all went well,All praise to God! Super comfortable an homey an relaxing in my own home. The biggest thing would be to have a Midwife that you love an trust and are comfortable with. As you can hear I’m very passionate about this subject 😀

I'm so glad you had good experiences! Did you mom do home births? My mom had all of us at the hospital so it's pretty much all I know. Also none of my friends or acquaintances have done a home birth . . .oh wait, maybe one. . . so it's pretty foreign to me!

Made it to the end! I know your sweet Fletcher is already here tho ❤️ you picked a great name! We named our son Porter, I’ve always loved last names for first names. Also, I’m a Midwife assistant and attend births in homes all the time. It’s part of my job to make sure there is no more birth goo once we go after about 3 hours postpartum. I think being able to tuck into your own bed after is the best reason for home birth. ❤️

I was sleeping in bed with baby less than 2 hours after my last home birth. We had an herbal bath and got tucked in. It was so nice and never as messy as people think.

Home birth mama X2 here! It is a wonderful spiritual experience and you should really become more familiar with the idea. There are a number of great documentaries on it, and I used to watch dozens of homebirths on youtube. Give it some time mama!

I've had 2 complicated homebirths, and I'm so glad they happened at home instead of the hospital. Variations from the norm are not necessarily an "emergency". Even a difficult birth is not always an emergency. My births were tough and a little scary, but they weren't traumatic, which is what my first 2 births were (both in a hospital)

HOMEBIRTH IS INCREDIBLE!!!! A huge blessing and so wonderful, way less nervous than a hospital, everything is comfortable, and you can do what you want/need to. You can listen to your body and it makes the whole process so much better. I had my first two in a hospital, mainly because my hubby was like yours. I had "good" experiences, for the most part. But I prayed so hard, and my hubby had a change of heart, praise God! We had our last three children at home, and it was just amazing! I can't even tell you how wonderful it was in words, just so intimate and peaceful, calm, relaxing. Even my hubby says he wouldn't want to go back to a hospital.
And as for sanitary, that doesn't really make sense.... if you think about it, a baby is being born into his /her own family, in the environment (aka germs) they've been bred in and will continue to live in. Of course, even at home you sterilize things. It's much safer and cleaner than a hospital with lots of people/germs/diseases in and out everyday, totally unnatural environment, and so "cold and foreign" for a baby to come into the world in.
In my humble opinion, home is the best place for this miracle to take place. When my kids are raised, I could be a midwife! I actually delivered my last two babies (and one was breech, totally perfect). I also delivered my sister's baby, when her midwife didn't make it in time. It truly is an incredible experience!
Just so you know, I would definitely say a good midwife makes all the difference in the world. My midwife is a jewel.

I live 2 hours from Lancaster. When I went there as a kid, I left wanting to be Amish. I was obsessed with anything about Amish and buggies and everything. I'm much different religiously, but lifestyle wise, I feel I'm more similar than different. I really appreciate simple living and a slower lifestyle.

  • @hedera13

Just watching this. I'm also 25 this year. We're not Mennonite, we practice another religion (I'm an Omnist, which is hard to explain), but our personal lifestyle is probably pretty similar in most ways by choice. Homebirth is a very spiritual thing and I feel like it is an awesome way to connect to the creator. I've had 3 at home (one also in hospital, so 4 babies) and it honestly is so far from scary. My midwife was present and helped my husband clean up and also brings all of her medical kits. I'm honestly not sure what you believe or what Mennonites believe about medicine; but she had both natural and conventional things on-hand should we have needed it, including oxygen. Homebirth is shown to be as safe, or safer, than homebirth in low-risk women. Women are made for birth (whether you believe through nature or God's design) so I was never afraid of birth, only afraid of going back to birth at a hospital. I have my most recent birth clip on my channel. I hope this helps you and I am happy to answer questions. We named our first son Morgan.

I watched the video to the end. My husband and I had five children (4 girls and then our boy at the end) and he chose the name Paul for our son. My mother chose the middle name which is Christopher. Our birth experience ran the gamut from our first being a C-section (1983) to a VBAC (vaginal birth after Caesarian) to home births (last child born in 1993). It kept getting better and better. The support received from midwives was top notch as well as much more time spent during the prenatals and the whole family being included in the process.

Atheist here (well, kind of, I hate that label because it's associated with neckbeards who think they're the smartest person on earth for not believing so let's just say I'm not religious) who stumbled across your channel. I've got family in Lancaster but only have gotten to visit a couple times while young and have been interested in the religions that are anchored there since. So grateful to have found your channel -- you've really changed a lot of the preconceptions I had about Mennonites (and maybe solidified a couple as well :P) Subscribed!

I've started watching your videos only yesterday and I'm hooked! I find it so amazing that we come from completely different backgrounds and yet we do share many similar values and interests (well, aside from the fact you're amazing at sewing and I wish i had been taught, lol). I am also a homeschooler and pro homebirth (my first child was born in the hospital and my second child was born at home). It was so much better, in my opinion, to have a baby at home. Mine was unassisted (it was actually not planned that way, but i have very fast labors so...) However, if i ever have another child, i would like a midwife to be present (funny coincidence here, while living in NY we had no idea the farm we bought our raw milk from was owned by a mennonite family whose wife was a midwife... if only i had known at the time!). Anyways, thank you for creating this channel. I love hearing about your lifestyle. You inspire me! :-)

Three homebirths (the second and third were water births and loved those way better!) with a midwife and my best friend who is now becoming a certified doula. All three were smooth, two boys and a little girl. Our little girl came quickly and had the cord around her, her arm up by her face and she breathed in water, but everything was still peaceful and was just fine! Midwife, doula and hubby and I all spoke life over her, midwife gave her one breath and suctioned water and she was as perfect as if it never happened! God is so good. Would have another homebirth in the future, so relaxed and on your timing, preferences. Just discovered your channel, love learning about other Christian lifestyles (have always wondered about Mennonite, Mormonism etc). Hope you have a beautiful delivery of your little boy, if not already.

My favorite boys name is Griffin! But my husband isn’t a fan. My first daughter is Roslyn, (named after my home town,) and my second daughter is Fable. Fae for short.
I had my second at home! Beautiful experience and I’d never do it differently. I definitely recommend looking into the information on it. I know a lot of faith based women choose to free birth or home birth as well. My husband thought he would be more nervous than he was when it happened. It was so nice to be at home and take our time introducing the baby to the world around them. To have them born into the place where they will live and be around familiar germs rather than in a hospital where sick people go.

Hey Megan. I grew up in the south and the Mennonites here are somewhat conservative. They still drive horse and buggies, they don't have electricity but they do have cell phones. Some of them are friendly and some are not so friendly, but that's in all religions I've encountered. Also they only go to school until the eighth grade here. Love your channel and also that you are so open about your religion. That's the only way we can learn from one another.

I’ve lived my whole life next to Amish and Mennonites, but never really interacted with them other than at Green Dragon or in used sports stores (not stereotyping, just where I see them the most). How does schooling work in the Mennonite community? Is there a teacher’s college just for mennonites? Is the curriculum different than secular study in schools or is just a religion class added? Would there be enough mennonite kids in the public schools so that teachers and other students understand lifestyle and how to be respectful in your area? This channel is blowing my mind. I’ve been binge watching. Thank you so much.

I love the name Ezra. I have 7 boys (and 5 girls) their names are Justin Bruce (named after my dad), Jason Michael, Daniel Joseph, Josiah Stephen, Isaiah David, Elijah William, and Jeremiah Peter. I just found your channel...and subscribed. 😊 We’re originally from York, PA, so watching your vlogs makes me a little homesick, but in a good way. lol

We tried to balance our children's names. Growing up with two long names and short last was a bit much when a kid learning how to spell.😂 (Christine Elizabeth) Their dad however names is balanced short first name, long middle, short last. (Ryan Kristopher) So we named our kids (Charlotte Lane and Evan Nicholas) 😍😍 Also I completely understand the struggle with not wanting to tell what you are naming your child until they are born. I was the same way. Other boy names I loved are Oliver, Dean, and Wyatt. The only other girl names I ever very very briefly considered was Luna, Lily and Moira. We did pick out Carter Lewis for our daughter just incase my overwhelming instinct she was a girl was wrong. We couldn't use that name for our son however because someone we now named their son Carter.

Erik Samuel is what I named my son. Erik, to me, was perfect because my last name is also only three letters long and only one syllable. Erik has two syllables, a beautiful meaning, and cannot be shortened into one syllable lol

My cousin (My family is very close) had a baby girl 3 weeks before I had my 3rd child. They named her Lydia Violet. Violet was our 1st choice and Lydia was our 2nd choice! I was so happy for them but cried for an hour! As it goes, we had a little girl! We named her Violet Kathleen. She just fit that name and now the girls (age 7) love that they are almost "name twins"! I love your little guy's name! You did well!

LOL...5 homebirths and I could go on and on but will refrain. Homeschooling my last one, he's 13. My oldest daughter is 6 months pg w/ her first (our first grandson). She is doing a homebirth as well. They can not decide on a boy name. Our youngest is Boone.. he was our bonus child and his name reflects that. I love the names Caleb, Benjamin, Lucas, Joshua, Moses and Jayce. She likes the name Silas but hasn't found a middle name or first name to go w/. Blessings to you in all you endeavor.

I wanted to use a midwife at a birthing center for my third, but my husband was not on board. My first was a terrible hospital experience, and my second was a very quick hospital birth (with a different doctor than the first) which was a better experience. My third also ended up being at the hospital, and even though the labor wasn't super quick, I had a wonderful labor nurse who was with me the entire time.

Yes, yes! I never really wanted to name my kids names that my students had, but I've taught so many over the years so that's beginning to be a problem! But every time I here these names I think of your sweet boys so that's not a bad thing!
