  • Is this the best beginner barefoot shoe you can get? Here we review the Men's Chukka Canvas from Lems Shoes, which I've had for 3 months now.
I have been on my barefoot / minimalist shoe journey for 3 months and I've tried shoes from Vivobarefoot, Xero, and Merrell. This is probably my favourite barefoot shoe out of all of them though, and in this review we explain why.

What are your favourite barefoot / minimalist shoes?! I think this one has to be my top so far from my collection.

I had a whole story to tell, but I decided to just leave it out in the end.
My sorta, minimalist shoes back then were the old classic Tretorn tennis shoes in white leather or blue canvas depending on the weather.
The modern iterations of these shoes imo feel cheaply made, so I've bought my last pairs many years ago.
Currently, if I'd have to choose one minimalist pair, maybe a near monochrome trail running shoe like my Adidas trail runners would be my choice. It's my go-to for my kind of one bag travel, but at home I need lots of purpose-specific shoes. Golf in wet, slippery conditions, mountain biking, weightlifting, dress attire, etc.

I’m new to barefoot shoes and am watching reviews on this shoe, cause there is a pair on eBay that popped up. But I think I already figured out why this brand is thicker soles, since they are based in Colorado. I’m in Wyoming and wasn’t sure how I would do barefoot shoes in the winter, cause lots of snow and gets pretty brutal cold. I bet that’s why they do theirs thicker.

It's a great brand to start with too if you're new because it's still a bit cushioned

Glad you liked it! I've made a few more barefoot shoe vids on my channel if you're curious about some other shoes I've tried

Very cool video! I've been wearing Lems on and off for the past year and a half. I've been really loving them. I'm trying to decide if I want to get the chukkas or the chillum for my next pair.

Thanks! Chillum looks very cool. I only got this model cause it was what popped up on Ebay haha. Are you considering transitioning fully to barefoot style shoes in the future?

@@PGBlanks Lems are the only actual shoes I wear. But I do wear soccer cleats and indoor soccer shoes since I play so I can't go full barefoot while I am still playing. I have three pairs, the outlander boot,
boulder boot, and a pair of primal zens.

@@cadengoalkeeping4591 Nice! I had a phase when I tried playing soccer in my teens and I found the cleats so narrow and painful, definitely affected my enjoyment of the sport. :/ Any luck on soccer shoes with a wider toebox?

@@PGBlanks nice I'll take a look! My two new lems arrived the other day. The chillums are the best shoes I've ever worn! And I'm extremely excited to wear the chukkas swing dancing and to a few wedding this summer they look that nice haha.

Great videos. Would you recommend this as a shoe to wear on my upcoming two week trip to Europe. I plan to be walking around all day in towns/hiking.

Thanks! Definitely wear these with longer socks because otherwise they will blister if the back rubs against your heel.
I tried this on some easy walks and hikes and they were fine, but if you're going to be doing anything that you need hiking boots for, I don't think this will be the best. The tread isn't super conducive for more challenging terrain.
