    When I was younger, I built almost 50 small boats- mostly sailboats- so I can appreciate your work. I also build airplanes (real, experimental aircraft) and I know how much happiness you get from doing things like this. I want you to know how happy it makes me to see you building your boats. There are many bad things in the world, but seeing you making this boat gives me real comfort and contentment. We have many Vietnamese here in Texas, and it makes me very happy to know them and to see the same strength of character in them as I see in you. So I am sending you much love from Texas and from a fellow boat builder!

    Good work building your boat from scratch, fabricating almost every part used from base material. The speed you obtained is about what I would expect from the horsepower and engine RPM you have available. The twin diesels have a good sound to them.
    I noticed you set up your propellers to be counter rotating. Nice design detail. It helps with overall performance and maneuverability.
    Is this boat now complete, or are you going to make modifications to plumbing and wiring to clean up everything plus modify the propellers, rudders and struts to increase performance? I see a number of places where small changes can make notable improvements.
    This boat turned out good.

    You did a fantastic job. Did you do any calculations regarding the weight of the engines and passengers in relation to the hull size before starting?

    • @Nasatchannel
      @Nasatchannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I didn't calculate before placing the engine and the hull height, it was a big mistake, I will learn from that. Thank you very much, please share the video with everyone. I will try to do better!

    Fantastic build! I hope to emulate it someday! This hull design should have little to no bow wake, and be very level in the water when it's on plane, roughly 12-15 knots ( I think 🤔) you could try adding hydrofoil planes to the rudders, or shift your CG forward

    • @patfranks785
      @patfranks785 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, it's stern heavy.

    • @52Ford
      @52Ford 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding trim tabs would probably help. Edit: Maybe a single large tab on the transom, in between the two hulls. He could just use a turnbuckle to adjust it. Not like that boat would see much variation in load, so once it's set, it shouldn't need to be adjusted again.

  • @belliott538

    First off, Love the build! Don’t believe I could duplicate your results building under similar conditions...
    That said; Your running Trim looks pretty good over all. The Engines sound like they are close in balance (from here)...
    Only thing I see amiss: Your Wake is not symmetrical. Something is just a bit off in your Drive Train... One Prop making more power; One Prop misaligned... Your Port side Prop Wash looks weak, or maybe port side prop is running deeper...
    😎👍

    • @stephencresswell4760
      @stephencresswell4760 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest issue is that it’s never really gets on the plane, it’s pushing through the water all the time. Either it’s too heavy, it doesn’t have enough power or the angle of the props are pushing the bows down. It should fly. 👍

    You do great work, especially considering your resources. However, laminating fiberglass on metal can cause problems. As the metal expands and contracts due to temperature change, it'll cause veins in the glass that will allow water into your core material. You obviously have the ability to fabricate on the spot, maybe just weld exhaust pipes onto flanges and bolt them thru the hull with gaskets. Happy building!
