I wanted to stop and point out a pretty interesting comparison I've noticed between Miyazaki and Walt Disney. In “My Neighbor Totoro”, Mei and Satsuki’s mom being sick was actually based off of when Miyazaki’s mom was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was a child. Mei and Satsuki were inspired by his own younger self as his fear and frustration over possibly losing his mother reflects through them. When looking back at his own memories of his mom, instead of focusing on the darker times, he chose to focus more on her strong will, which he would take inspiration from when writing strong female protagonists like San, Naussica, or Sophie. Unfortunately for Walt, he did end up losing his own mother at a young age when his house caught on fire while she was still inside. This left him traumatized and explains why he always killed off the mothers in his films. He wanted to teach kids how easily they can lose their loved ones, which is why they should always be grateful for them. I’m not trying to antagonize or negatively depict Walt’s trauma from losing his mom, I just thought it was an interesting comparison to point out as it shows the different ways artists/creators choose to reflect their trauma and memories through their work.
@@さくら-l8t yo i didn't comment in a negative way I am just pointing out the fact that what you said about their past is portrayed in the latest movie of miyazaki, ' the boy and the heron'

Miyazaki is a gift to this world i wish he never stops making movies but we all know its impossible Miyazaki movies are just wow when you finish one you get to a state of depression you wish it will never end kinda difficult watched some of his works like multiple times each time i finish one i enter a state of depression just one more movie mister Miyazaki please thanks for your beautiful outstanding and marvelous work you are such a great man a living hero
Literally every word dat leaves his mouth could be a quote , I'm an aspiring artist and this man right here is my inspiration, I've seen all Ghibli movies and i really, really love them.
Personally, I think he and Walt Disney have more in common than people realize, especially their childhoods - they were both forced to grow up fast to support their parents through hard times. And as a boss, it seems Miyazaki is as reluctant to pass his role on to anyone as Disney was. And when he's gone, I fear Ghibli will go the way Disney went after Walt died - with no clear successor to him, the studio will fall into the corporate leadership.
Great work but so sad that he was never there for his son. He was there physically not as a father figure. His son only knew him from the anime he made
Yes it’s always a thing that I think about after learning more about Miyazaki and his son.. I love Miyazaki’s work but I find it kind of hard to imagine that a man whose works are so heartwarming and filled with kindness did not treat his son with the same affection.. I understand animation is a lot of hard work and he likely did not have time to care for his son, but still...
I don’t know about y’all, but I don’t feel comfortable assuming who is right or wrong in their relationship. We were not there to see how Hayao raised his son and what their family life is like, I don’t think it’s fair to think either one of them is wrong or right :/ it’s probably best the fans stay out of their personal lives
He is doing what he love...he gave his son a life n all the luxury that millions of us cannot have...how selfish of his son to expect his father to give up what he love to baby sit him??? Will he do the same when he grow big n his father is old n need care???? Nope right because he would choose his job over his parents...
I just feel with Hayoa that he was deeply affected by what happened in world war 2 being a child of that amazing generation and because of that feels whatever he does will never live up to expectations, personally I think he does more than he will ever know.
This is pivotal information to understand when his new movie Boy and the Heron comes out. It's a movie not only in tribute to Isao Takahara but a semi- autobiography about his life.
And here we are... 2022... I think Hayao should take more time in this movie and move it to 2025! Dear Mr. Miyazaki, please stay healthy, and keep enjoying what you are doing!
Marissa Bilaro Hayao Miyazaki is in the middle of making the last film, but his age is so old that he doesn't have enough physical strength and it seems that half of it is not finished yet.
THIS MAN IS AMAZING! AND YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HONOURED I AM TO BE BORN THE SAME DAY AS HIM! yes I'mma gonna say this to everyone lol😂 (his and mine birthday is on 5th january)

A good observation. And both valid points in themselves
The boy and the heron, the mother dies in the movie in the burning fire

where can i watch his movies?
Spirited Away is the longest movie to be nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film category. But it felt so short I was sort of sad when it ended.
I believe that our work’s main goal must be to tell children that life is worth living.
That hasn’t changed.

Miyazaki, the one and only. With the amount of work and the kind of quality movie he brought to us. He is still underrated.
You nailed it buddy.
My kids adore his movies as I did
im doing a presentation on him and this video is a lifesaver, thank you
