If I remember correctly, it is illegal by league rules for the 49ers to sign Purdy to a new contract before this regular season ends. I don't think this indicates the 49ers have any lack of desire to sign Purdy. He is still on his rookie contract. The 49ers are just benefitting to too great an extent for most people to feel comfortable.
