Crown The Empire: one of the realest fucking band I've come to love. The way described everything from the meaning to this album, the departure of Benn and the band & how they felt about everything. The fact that they are finally putting their heart and soul in this album has made me so much happier to be a loyal fan. A lot of people have already given them shit for their new sound, saying "ughhh go back to your old shit". I love all 3 albums, but the fact that this is them. this is the real crown the empire. I will forever treasure this album as one of the greats. I knew there was more to why Benn left and maybe that's how they realized that shit got real. But as always, I will forever respect Benn Suede and the rest of the boys. But even now, "fans" willl still talk shit about Retrograde and about Benn. Nonetheless, Retrograde will forever outrank Limitless, The Fallout & The Resistance: Rise Of The Runaways, not only for its sound, but for the realness of its true nature

I am absolutely in love with this interview. One, because of how long it was... Two, because Nick Major knows what the hell he's doing... And three, how much better I got to know Andy and parts of Crown the Empire from it. Rise of the Runaways is my favorite album of all time, and no album will ever hold such emotional meaning to me, but I'm so happy to know that Crown is finally happy with what they're doing. It will be hard to part with their amazing story telling (as someone who writes novels in their free time, I absolutely loved the story aspect of their albums), but I'm totally stoked to be on a journey with this band as they find themselves and put out music that makes them happy. They're undeniably talented and from what I can tell, down to earth as all hell now, and I'm so beyond stoked to witness this. When I'm older, I'll hand The Resistance to my kids and say, "Hey, this album inspired me to write (the novel I'm writing now), but the band showed me how to grow." Hats off Andy, Hayden, Brandon, Brent, and Dave.
So yeah to everyone who think's their selling out and hate Retrograde, you hate Crown since this album is the most personal one they've done. I'm proud of where they are and I think that it's really mature of Andy to realize at 22 years old what he has realized. Some people never really reach that point in their lives where they realize that what they're doing with their lives isn't the best but yeah Retrograde will definitely be on repeat for a couple months

This makes me feel a lot better about the album, I'm open to bands changing but what bothers me is when they seem to just bail on quality lyrics. This album has quality lyrics, even if its not metalcore like before. I love Zero, it's a killer song and the rest of the album is solid too.

I have to pause the video to let it load and to get about 1 minute into it, I have to leave it paused for roughly 3 minutes. I'm 8 minutes in. I've been here since 12, its 12:28. This is exhausting but 30 minutes of Andy is most definitely worth the frustration tbh
