    Wow, another model I own that you reviewed. Mine is a 4 Star 60 kit. Came as a box of wood. It was my second plane. I had built many small plastic models as a kid so I decided to give it a try. I have an OS .60 nitro motor in it. Flys great and was great as my first tail dragger. Allowed me to get into my war bird collection.

    Awesome flight. The first prop I think the (apc)first one did well. Still beautiful plane. Thanks

      I might get another APC prop at 12X7...or just a bigger motor, or try 4S..it's SOOOOOOOOOO close to being everything it should be!

    No thank you brian for all your great videos and for your help with the umx timber settings they were perfect. Although I crashed and burned I was able to fix everything due to your repair videos too thanks again for all your help.

      I've destroyed a lot of planes in my day. I'm way to cheap to just let most of them die - LOL!

    So I know this is an older video and I saw you trying out different props. If you had to do it all over again what motor, esc and prop size would you suggest? I ask because I am looking at getting this plane.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly don't remember. When we setup the electronics on these planes, we generally ended up under powering them. If I had to recommend one thing, I'd say...find what size plane you're looking at, and then just buy those components.
      This is what we used for the motor... 2836 750kv brushless outrunner
      BUT I can't recall what prop was best. I think this is somewhat subjective. We never had the power to get her flying the way she deserved. My late Grandpa built this one, and we worked out the electronics together, so I still have this plane, and would like to get a bigger power system in it, as it's a GREAT flying, and beautiful plane! These balsa buildup planes area the ones that will last years and years...nothing like the foamies that I love so much, that are here and gone. ;)

      It's super windy here today, like 25 mph

      Brian Phillips This morning the wind smashed my little Cessna 182 into a pole and bent the shaft on one of the 3 tiny drive motors. Looks like the Timber will be ordered sooner than later.

      No problem. Replacement on the way which means spare parts. I accepted from the start that crashes are part of the deal.

    Probably is... kudos for not editing it, LOL!
    Its a nice smooth rc plane to fly, stress free, just some quality stick time.
    12x6 >> +1

      @BrianPhillipsRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I think the 12X6 was a HUGE improvement over the 12X4, but wondering if my power system and motor would gripe too much with a 4S. I know that would put me where I need to be, but if the motor catches fire, kinda defeats the purpose - LOL!

    The history of SIG is interesting, The company is named after the person who owns it, A WOMAN!! She is a flight enthusiast.
    Flies a full scale sport clipped wing STOL CUB. And started the company over a trade war that left US without BALSA wood for this hobby. Wish I bookmarked the article. It's on youtube history of SIG somewhere, It was in my last AMA magazine also.
