That takes me back a bit! When Melanie's songs first came out they were completely different to everything else that was going down and very, very compelling. "Lay down" is still one of my favourite songs ever after all these years.
Amen, brother. Lay Down is a timeless ode to the best in us, if we'd only live up to it's ambition. Alas, songs like this have been so forgotten, glad to see Miley has a sense of history.

Melanie added the ‘folk’ to ‘folk music’ as much as any folk music artist ever recorded. So happy to view & hear the tribute that Miley Cyrus gave to Melanie by performing this beautiful melody with her. Rest In Peace beautiful Melanie. Continue to soar beautiful Miley!
It is so wonderful to see Melanie performing here. There weren't so many literate female singer songwriters around in the 1960s and 1970s that her contribution can be forgotten. She was a singular talent
I was in love with Melanie back in the 70’s. Well damn, turns out I’m still in love! And why did it take 8 years for this to find me. Sheesh. Bloody awesome ladies.
Thank you sabrinaphillips. I love Melanie's songs. They were the small part of my teens that once in a while would lift me up. The high school years for me were HELL! I went to a real F-upped private Lutheran-Christian High School on Long Island. The school should have been sued for many things they did to me and a few of my classmates; many of whom were dumb jock jackasses and a few of the girls were bitch-brained witches. Private Christian schools made me realize that all religions are superstition, fantasy, blather and a tax exempt fraud. All we are is water, chemicals and then we vanish. There is no god but there are dogs. My teachers were from primitive places such as Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado (The Lutheran Missouri Synod). Especially then, you did not mix city of New York type kids with hicks from the corn fields. My parents and brother were abusive and alcoholics. Thank dog that I had my two North German grandparents from Hamburg, Germany. They lived close by. I had friends but only one real good one. The rest were too worried seeking the approval of others and conforming. My father built up his own seafood business and knew nothing but work, yelling and beating his kids and talking about how much he loved his business. My mother was busy having a ''secret relationship" with a Northern Italian asshole from Genoa, Italy. That went on from 1960 until my Sicilian American father died of Leukemia in 1987. Then scumbag Umberto ( complicit home wrecker) was revealed formally in August 1988. I had seen him earlier and spied on my mother at times. I knew what was going on officially by 1970 when I was 15. One reason for this double life was that when I was a baby, my father went to whores and contracted gonorrhea. My mother did not want slimy organisms in her love canal so she looked for a man that would kiss her ass figuratively and literally. Give Melanie my regards. Perhaps she can write a song about the hell of high school and behind closed doors. She would know how to do it. It would be similar to the song "At Seventeen" by Janis Ian. @@sabrinaphillips916
I poured my heart out and did you delete it or did the owner of Melanie's Official Page. If so why? I was writing the truth. Is it that too much reality is not what the public wants, or do they? I believe they do. Channel owners often do not when they are trying to keep a mood going. I feel that doing that to someone such as I is very, very shallow and misguided. It also denies my reality of pain, anger and fear. This is morally wrong in my book. @@sabrinaphillips916

I enjoyed this duo, superb and they are enjoying making music with each other. I will save to revisit like I do the Tiger Lilies singing, A Thousand Violins, Linda Williams singing, Crossing the Bar, Elvis singing, Trying to Get to You, Stevie wonder and Tom Jones singing, Moving On and the Hallelujah Acoustics with Kurt Nilsen.
So good to Melanie and Mylie together. Sounds great and has great vibes! +++++++++++++++++++++
Melanie was my 1st and lasting older women, crushI didn't care if she was famous, that was just a .part of her charm
Two women I could listen to all day long....both singing together is a double whammy! RIP dear Melanie....
Ruhe in Frieden Melanie... Danke für deine tolle Musik! Grüße aus Deutschland... Greetings from Germany
Can't believe today. This awesome talented gentle soul just passed this plane. RIP sweet sister, Lay down, lay down.
Boy,I remember back in Austria, bevore I came to the US in '73, Melanie was very popular, I miss those days, she was awsome!
Fabulous! RIP Melanie.
Thank you for the music, Melanie. RIP.
I fell in love with Lay Down when it came out; I was 12. I was moved to tears and felt this song to the depths of my being🩵 I still cry when I hear it as I sing at the top of my lungs.... thank you for sharing your passion to create meaningful music that moves the heart, mind, body and spirit❣️ peace and blessing🙏🩵🕊
First concert I ever attended and what a beautiful start to a lifetime love of good music. Melanie was an original, authentic soul. I will play her songs on the school bus tomorrow as a gift to a new generation.
After all these years I still LOVE this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow , I had no idea Miley could sing SO well. That her voice had developed so much character. You two together … !
Yeah, when she's not singing her own crap music, she's pretty good...
@@seanseoltoir actually her latest music which is influenced by 70's 80's and 90's Rock sounds really great
She has a great voice. Just give her great material.
Her own music isn't crap, she's a great artist.@@seanseoltoir
Two absolutely amazingly beautiful and powerful women singers. Thank you both so much for all you do, as music literally makes life worth living! 🥰
I was in high school from 1968-1972. Thank you Melanie. I appreciate your songs more now than ever.
You caught the best high school years. Real school, real teachers, real awareness.
