After watching this 20 minute video about this specific series of chemical reactions, I can VAGUELY understand what's happening, but what purpose does it serve.. besides the cool patterns, what does it do? Does it makes rockets fly faster? Is it some kind of stain remover? Does this have anything to do with how zebras get their stripes? Who discovered this and what were they even doing? Lol
@@wut1727 it WAS a very interesting project, but the prof required us to do all the error regression analysis by hand, which, when you’re dealing with like 4 coupled differential equations, is an absolute nightmare.

TH-cam is an incredible platform for learning. I think a lot of people (eg: me) are quite visual learners, and just by being exposed to explanations by people who know their stuff and also make it interesting, information sticks over time and you start to be able to build on previous things. I started about a year and a half ago with electronics videos, barely remembering V=IR from highschool, and when I first started I was lost quite a bit, but picked up little bits at a time on several different channels. I now can understand just about any schematic shown and understand and can follow along complex topics. I'm hoping to get the same for chemistry, as my one university clsss I took on it had a lousy professor and it has always kind of stuck in my craw. As the OP said: I may not have fully understood the exact formulas and mechanisms of each reaction shown, but the general idea of reduction and oxidation reactions cycling, as well as the idea of diffusion producing the wave effects made enough sense that I had a decent picture working in my head. Cool video as always.
The last reaction was by far, the coolest. The blue flashes were so dang beautiful. this is probably my favorite chemical reaction, in terms of visual effects
