Really small risers like those are called shock pads that are pretty much just used to absorb abuse so you prevent stress cracks and it helps preserve the wood from warping by the hardware area in some cases. But the rest of the video was perfect :)
I have areally simple board, no risers or wedges, paris trucks and original paris bushings in the back, orangatang spoft nipples in the front. Orangatang Kegel wheels, wich is kinda overkill.. But it rolllls like a hot knife thru butter.
what do you mean it didn't go well? and how many combinations did you try? it took me a looooong time to figure out what i wanted and i now have a drawer full of bushings from all the combinations i've gone through. your first bushing combination isn't going to perfectly suit your style of riding it depends on your style of riding, your trucks, your deck and what you'll be riding but once you get it dialed it feels sooooo much better
I have a choice of brand new Bennett 4.3 or 6 for the front. Not finding the 4.3 to be the magic I’ve read that they are or should be. Wider truck 6.0 on the front okay? Or replace the stock new Bennett bushings? Thanks!
Not sure what the best pumping deck is... I try to match the trucks to the deck. Then match the wheels and bearings to the deck as well. Example. My worn dervish has ronin precision trucks with built in bearings riding on o-tang in heat wheels. It's heaven
I can pump on a Wolfshark with a single flat riser and two barrels, buying these trucks and those bushings is hella expensive. Buy calibers, a hairy bag of bushings on amazon, and find a carvy setup and you'll be just fine
Pretty new to Longboarding tweaking and I'm wondering what the point of risers are? It looks like it's only about 1/8" how big of a difference dues it make?
stock bushings aren't put in to be good for your weight so regardless what trucks you buy it's good to replace your bushings so you can dial in your trucks just right. if you like your trucks with stock bushings you'll like them even better with better bushings
Many thanks. One question my boards have reverse king pin. So is it safe to say a standard truck is best. I find my boards both as from factory hard to pump.
hey did you have to swap out the stock kingpins for the bennett and tracker in order to fit generic longboard bushings (venom downhill/supercarve, khiros etc) because i know you have to swap out the kingpin on indy trucks in order to fit those kinds of bushings
Thanks heapz for the video, it helped a lot as I am looking into a pretty similar setup on a Rayne Timeline as well. Since Bennetts and Tracker are not really available in the country I live I take some more time to decide which setup to order from the US. This will be my first pumping setup and I am deciding between Bennetts 5.0 or 6.0 and the RTS 129 or 149...in regards to wheels I am also undecided between the Zig Zags 70mm and theBig Zigs 75mm. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!
i did order the 6.0 and the 149s. Now I only have to decide on the wheels...could you or anyone really share what you consider as being a "long distance", so the point from when it makes more sense to take some 75s for maintaining momentum other than having some more reactive 70s? Thanks again.
That's something not a lot of ppl mention in the LDP community and for someone like me who knows absolutely nothing and just tryna gather info, this helps a lot! :)
Thank you man! for this vid. Quick question, you said you dewedged the rear for less turn and stability, couldn't you achieve the same thing by just tightening the rear trucks or do you need to add the wedges to keep the height the same as the front? and what would you get if you just made the rear neutral instead of dewedging it? Thank YOU :-)
The concept is that of basic geometry. Research baseplates and kingpin (split) angles. Having the front truck turn more and a back truck turn less will make your board feel like a surfboard. If you do the opposite with the back truck loose it will feel like a snowboard but you will get bad speed wobbles. Downhill/Race setups are dewedged on the back truck only or split angle trucks, like a car the front turns and the back is just suspension. For LDP (long distance push) races its good to wedge the front truck too so all your energy is converted into forward momentum.
#LDP-Rio #tmj :D
The Fifties & Gravity Laws yeh old post, started with ldp as well this summer :P I got the bennett-tracker combo with tusk brackets and an old deck chopped to a platform. It erased all my thoughts about TKP trucks xD
Going to get a derringer 28 soon and my setup is Trucks bear grizzly 852 Wheels rad glide 70mm 82a Bearings bones super reds Any thing I need to now or adjust please comment would be very helpful to me as i am a new long boarder
Just wanted to say- screws first, and then plop everything onto them rather than balancing wedges and the trucks while you try to get the screws through. Nice vid otherwise.
Looks like a basic slalom setup. If he knew how to pump it would have worked a LOT better. I don't know what he thinks he was doing but it was not pumping.
get a Omen Airship Get some bear Kodiak put some 90a 87a venom bushings in them riot pivot cups de wedge your back truck to 30 degrees and Downhill not all this pumping shit
Can any set up be pumped or do you need a certain set up?I also have a cruiser board. I noticed longer boards in youtube videos on how to pump.can curisers be pumped?
Pretty new to Longboarding tweaking and I'm wondering what the point of risers are? It looks like it's only about 1/8" how big of a difference dues it make?
MedicSnacks Risers help make pumping easier for sure. Being higher off the ground makes it easier to generate leverage to propel yourself forward. The easiest board I ever had to pump on had 3/4 inch risers on it. Risers also help get you more space to avoid wheelbite, which is good because you need a lot of board lean to pump easily. If you know how to pump already, risers aren't totally necessary, but if you are just learning I would recommend getting a set.
+JONATHAN PERALTA Front truck wedged: front truck will turn more than normal. Back truck de-wedged: Backtruck will turn less. Pumping gets easier this way, else very hard. I personally wedged only the front truck but on a relative horter board. The shorter the board the more you turn. Be aware: downhill not recommended with heavily wedged trucks because of speedwobble. One more thing: some flex of the board is great imo,
He looked like he had a terrific speed wobble 😂✌🏽
Thanks for showing this. I've always wanted to get a longboard, probably getting one soon.
You ever get one?
@@jamessparks5966 I'm gonna bank on no, but who knows

How did you decide how much angle wedges you use? I am trying to learn about split truck setups. Any resources to help?

Back at ya!!!!!!
what about the loaded Icarus board? how does that compare for pumping
Very informative. I'm definitely going to show this to some of my friends :)
This needs more likes
Nice Vid thanks for this good tips. Can´t wait till season starts. greetings from snowy Berlin

Entertaining and informative. Thanks for sharing, bro!

risers allow for ground clearance, helps you avoid wheel bite( wheel hits the board and stops)
Great video. Would you mind listing tools and hardware as well?
What does wedging and dewedging do on an rkp truck? (Calibers Paris etc.)
stock bushings aren't put in to be good for your weight so regardless what trucks you buy it's good to replace your bushings so you can dial in your trucks just right. if you like your trucks with stock bushings you'll like them even better with better bushings
One of my erasers is too big for my longboard, wha should i do?
I love the koi graphic man because I have a koi graphic to

New to all this... what do the wedges do?

Which bushings are the best for LDP. Soft, Mediam, or Hard?
What board characteristics are desireable?
Why the wedge setup?
you should've justified the setup options, otherwise is not that useful....
Two conic bushings in the front?
does it work with a loaded vanguard with flex 4?
why would you put the back angled riser facing the same way as the other one? shouldn't they both be facing opposite?
The way he has them the front turns sharper than stock and the rear turns less than stock.

ca i also just use a higher angle truck? instead of the wedges?
Good video!
very helpful
Are Bennetts and Trackers the same height.Wants to set this up on a drop thru
He's my babysitter
Is the kit the khiro 1/8 black riser kit? As in is that the only kit there is so that is what he/you are using?
Original stuff that warped many lol
Hi, can someone maybe explain me the pros to a Bennet truck? Why not use 2 tkp trucks or up front a tkp and in the back a rkp? Thankss
so i can't get any wedgers in my entire country... will I be able to pump with those trucks without any wedges?
Boy need to get himself a rip stick.
Earthwing superglider?
stock bushings for life, can I have yours?
What does the wedge do exactly?
wedge makes it turn deeper, dewedge makes it turn less (so more stable)
That's something not a lot of ppl mention in the LDP community and for someone like me who knows absolutely nothing and just tryna gather info, this helps a lot! :)
Anyway to use risers/wedges with a drop through deck?
There are special risers for drop rough Decks.
cool
so you're saying that caliber stock bushings' are trash? don't think so, they come with blood orange
"Happy pumping!" "come bellow" wtf! I don't want to do that^^
So don't than baby
anyone know what board this is?

makes sense, have you tried the Gbomb boards and if so any comments? I was looking at them and wasn't sure.

Omg I love you..
Check out my LDP vid:

Change your bushings just because Mmmmkay.. u want front soft and rear hard
why should we not use reverse kingpins?
My Gullwing RKP trucks work better than the setup in this video which I also have. Not sure what is wrong with RKP trucks either.
All that nice gear and no skate tool?
thanks man for the 411 ,whach you later man
what is the bushing kit called
+Matt Zak ummmm. Little late haha. It's been a year
+Matt Zak haha. Heard Donald trump is going to run. Tell me he doesn't win

#LDP-Rio #tmj :D
Are the trucks normal trucks
yeah, they are known as normal kingpin trucks or skateboard type of trucks compared to the standard reverse kingpin on Longboards
Are you high?
how can people even steer with TKP trucks??
Because they are still much appropriate for LDP and Slalom, that's all :P
The Fifties & Gravity Laws yeh old post, started with ldp as well this summer :P I got the bennett-tracker combo with tusk brackets and an old deck chopped to a platform. It erased all my thoughts about TKP trucks xD
bennetts are really carvy n turn really well
Going to get a derringer 28 soon and my setup is
Trucks bear grizzly 852
Wheels rad glide 70mm 82a
Bearings bones super reds
Any thing I need to now or adjust please comment would be very helpful to me as i am a new long boarder
or you get one skate tool to do the job of all those tools... haha but still nice video man
Deez nuts
false, i tried replacing my blood orange and didnt go to well.
ABEC 11 is the bearing grade. 11 is extremely good.
Just wanted to say- screws first, and then plop everything onto them rather than balancing wedges and the trucks while you try to get the screws through. Nice vid otherwise.
Or just buy a ripstick
Youre ob drugs xD
*on

That’s the way the LDP guys are pumping these days. Looks weird to me as well.
Christ man just buy a skate tool
get a Omen Airship
Get some bear Kodiak put some 90a 87a venom bushings in them
riot pivot cups
de wedge your back truck to 30 degrees and Downhill not all this pumping shit
