  • Paralysis Shoulder Subluxation Exercises | Shoulder Exercises in Paralysis | SRIAAS
Today, in this video, Dr. Sanskriti (Physiotherapist) will tell us about the difference between dislocation and subluxation of the shoulder, further she will discuss the exercises that would help in the condition.
A dislocation is defined as the "displacement of a bone from its normal position in the joint." This is the point at which the two bones that make up a joint are completely separate from one another. A dislocation occurs when the ball (which forms the top of the arm bone) slips completely out of the socket it should sit in within the shoulder, as in a shoulder, which is a ball and socket joint. This can occur in any direction, but the main point is that the two bones separate completely.
A subluxation is defined as a "partial dislocation." It can be just as painful as a full dislocation because the two bones that make up the joint are still in contact with each other.
So, using the shoulder joint as an example once more, the ball that completely came out of the socket in the dislocation example above would still be partially in the socket in a subluxation.
Dislocations can be excruciatingly painful, causing the affected joint to become unsteady or immobile (unable to move). They can also strain or tear the muscles, nerves, and tendons around them (tissue that connects the bones at a joint).
The ball at the top of your upper arm bone (humerus) may only partially come out of the socket, a condition known as "subluxation," in which your shoulder moves past the normal location on the socket but is not completely out of place.
Two exercises that you can do to relieve the pain of subluxation of the shoulder:
    1. Use a foam pillow to support the hand and move it left and right slowly. Good positioning will help reduce strain on your ligaments and prevent frozen shoulders from occurring.
    2. You can ask your caregiver to help you grab a foam rod or just any light-weighted stick. Grab the rod with both your hands; use the pillow for support from under. Lift the rod up and down for 10 repetitions.
You can take free consultations at SRIAAS Paralysis Care. Our doctors and staff will provide you best treatment with appropriate diet and exercise.
We, at SRIAAS, have formed a whole stroke program, investing the strength of Ayurvedic treatment in neuro-rehabilitation. This particular integration fastens the recovery method and offers the patient and caregivers exceptional edges
