brightbluesmurf dont hold me to this but i think the haldex in the tt rs is modified over the tts. ive read its a constant 50/50 but found no solid info on this.
I own a 2018 TT RS with this exact color-combo. What an incredible car, with supercar-performance. When you launch it, it really feels like a true supercar, but you also have impressive practicality. Really my dream car!
If you live in England, you need Quattro. Good luck with your RWD Porsche and BMW models when its pissing down with rain. You can tell us all about the handling feedback you get when you wrap it around a tree. Perhaps the pure driver's thrill you experience driving painfully slow when it sleets? Jag F-Type can have 4WD but it's way more expensive and not as practical as a daily driver. The TT-RS is an excellent machine for going from A to B very quickly in virtually any weather, whilst sat in the best-made cabin in the class. Its handling is closer to neutral than massive understeer btw. I don't think any of you have driven one, you're just regurgitating. If the slight understeer on edge bothers you, you can upgrade the sway bars even further and fit slightly wider wheels on the front. Audi TT-RS? Awesome car.
I drove a 911 997 C2 hard in the worst weather plenty of times. There's loads of grip there with the best tyres. All the weight is over those rear tyres, so in many senses I'd trust the dynamics of that rather than a FWD, where understeer can get you in real trouble in the wet.. It's only the widowmaker 911s of 993 era and back that are so light and lack back to front weight distribution of the newer (safer) cars. For fairly established drivers, AWD is just overkill. Give me an RWS R8 / Huracan any day!
Got one of these in the same blue with a Unitronic tune. 0-60 happens sub 3.5 easy. Plenty of storage for luggage, golf clubs and groceries. I've gotten up to 32mpg highway which is impressive. However when you really let it loose, 15mpg is easy to achieve when driving at the limit. Truely a unique car, with an engine note you'll want to hear over and over again.
@@richscrinsonphonegg8842 The lag is still there, it just spools up quicker and shifts much faster. If you really want to get some more hp, upgrade the intercooler, cats, and turbo and you'll get 650+hp
Firstly, I've driven a 2.0TT FSI when I dropped my A8 in to be diagnosed. Had it all day, put juice in the tank, and drove straight to the royal national park on the outskirts of Sydney. Sydney's famous weekend car/bike destination. Even better at midnight all on your own but that's a conversation for another day. Was a weekday so empty. And yes I thrashed it. To compare it to my 3.2L v6 147 gta is fair. Similar power to the road though a bit down on my gta. My gta destroys the NP and ofcourse the 2.0 TT was different but engaging none the less. Handles fine, powers out fine down on braking, different gear ratios but adequate. Now, remember this is the base model, not the S least of all RS. Fellow mk2 TTS owner here. Hello brother! I agree with you 100% obviously. My car is stage 2 which is relatively light when it comes to modifications but the platform and package is so malleable out of the factory that you can essentially embarrass anyone calling it a hairdresser's car with a few simple mods. It is a seriously quick car, even at stock. Now the only significant thing that needs to be addressed is probably the suspension and geometry. The mag shocks are great but the springs are disappointing and there is still too much lean, jitter on bumps and understeer. All this can be dialled down with better springs or coilovers if you want to lose the stock mag shocks. Other than this one area, the car is fantastic. I too am eyeing a Mk3 TTRS after this. Big fan of that 5 cylinder note.

Very interesting how this guy goes diametrically against virtually every other review of the 2017 TT RS, nearly all of which have complained of numb steering and poor handling, too much understeer etc, not to mention track tests where it's beaten by for example, the cheaper and more practical AMG A45. Saying that the 2017 TT RS compares as something like a bargain 911 is plain ludicrous, especially when you don't mention the A45, RS3, Golf R, Focus RS, BMW M2 etc. etc.. I don't know how the 2017 TT RS drives, but this review certainly made me none the wiser.
Shut the fuck up because the test with a45 against the ttrs was that the amg was on winter tires on a rainy track while the ttrs was on summers. Stupid amg fanboy
Kommentator No? Circuito de Jarama in September of last year? Was that just a particularly advanced form of Audi Virtual Reality? Oh, and, while we're at it, as an Audi mechanic, could you go ahead and explain the coolant certification problem STILL keeping the TT RS from the German market?
I don't think there's any car in that price range that can accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.7s. Still, for much less, you can get a Merc A45 and have a whole lot more of practicality. If you compare it to a 911 carrera then it's the bargain of the century.

New forest???
Excellent.
In 15 years this will be the car my dad receives for his 60th birthday
Perfection on wheels :)
I have a 10 year old TT TDI Quattro and I take great care of her. Oh and pal I dislike your poser comment. Not required on any decent car review.
Anyone notice that horse at the start?
Perfect handling from an Audi? I'm a bit skeptical
is it weird that i laughed at the horse?
I still prefer the Cayman S.
Very interesting how this guy goes diametrically against virtually every other review of the 2017 TT RS, nearly all of which have complained of numb steering and poor handling, too much understeer etc, not to mention track tests where it's beaten by for example, the cheaper and more practical AMG A45. Saying that the 2017 TT RS compares as something like a bargain 911 is plain ludicrous, especially when you don't mention the A45, RS3, Golf R, Focus RS, BMW M2 etc. etc.. I don't know how the 2017 TT RS drives, but this review certainly made me none the wiser.
foo bar I'm betting the TT S corners faster than the TT RS. Probably would rather have a stage 2 TT S than this.
Junglist You may very well be right. My point is, pure gushing like this review isn't helpful in ascertaining that for a would be buyer.
Junglist what makes you say this?
A C7 Stingray with Z51 package is a much better deal than this.
Once again awd vs rwd, I prefer to immediately hook and go, spinning ain't winning.
Beauty!
I want the other host..
nice car
no chance am i getting this over a cayman s . are you insane
I'd get the Cayman S if it had a 6 cylinder engine but no chance with the 4 cylinder beetle sounding engine
ZenGamer97 are YOU insane? Have you heard that shitty engine? 4 cyl ffs
OH!.... it's that guy again:/
Lotus!
even with a 1000 hp its still so vague to look at that it doesnt matter.really a shame with such a great engine
intro killed my ears. pls
Who dis?
I don't think there's any car in that price range that can accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.7s. Still, for much less, you can get a Merc A45 and have a whole lot more of practicality. If you compare it to a 911 carrera then it's the bargain of the century.
Honfy Lam for A45 piece you can get RS3 that is much better than A45.
911 carrera would smoke the tt around the track
Supcharged: smoked? fastestlaps.com/comparisons/ugul56os263u nearly identical lap time but the RS beats it in a straight line, AND practicality. oh right, the Porsche is 25-30k more expensive.
TheEryk03 And by what judgement do you say the RS3 is "much better" than the A45? like in what way? quick look at the performance comparison... fastestlaps.com/comparisons/l4zlf9tgtr20
Cayman S anyday
Ahh those wheels tho :)
