There are a few clues that point to player 001’s true identity: 1. First, during the games he is the only player who seemed to be having fun smiling all the time 2. The doll who scan players with a green overlay to detect movement, when her eyes flicker over Il-nam, the green layer isn’t there. She wasn’t evaluating him. He was always safe. 2. By the end of the first episode, when players opt out of the game, Il-nam votes last, because he actually has the final say. He decides to end them, which could be because the game’s philosophy is built on voluntary enlistment. 3 Everyone else in Il-nam’s tug-of-war team had locks on their handcuffs while Il-nam’s didn’t. 4. While undercover cop Hwang Jun-ho rummages through the meticulously organized files of the games dating back many decades, he flips through the players of the current season. When Jun-ho opens the binder, the first page shows Player 002’s file, suggesting that Il-nam didn’t have a file and therefore wasn’t a regular player. 5. When Il-nam climbs up the bunk beds and pleads for it to stop while the Front Man watches he’s talking directly to the Front Man when he yells, “I’m so scared” and “Stop it!” Immediately after, the Front Man, who listens to no one, orders his men to turn the lights back on. 6. Durring the 6 th game, Il-nam, who during the episode seems like he’s merely rambling from dementia, tells Gi-hun that he once lived in a neighborhood just like it. Later on, he even enters a replica of one home, saying, “I used to live in this house,” before recounting which spots felt familiar. Toward the end of the game, it’s revealed that his faculties were working just fine. Since he’s the creator, he designed this backdrop after his own neighborhood and house. 7. In the scene where he appears pissed himself, notice on the pillow next to his head is a empty bottle of water, he probably intentionally put water on his pants to look weak to the others players. 8.At the end of episode two when everyone decides to return to the game everyone is shown how they are gassed, but not the old man. Another random fun facts: All the games are painted on the walls in the main bunker room with the beds. You can start seeing them better once the players and beds are taken away towards the end, but they were there from the very beginning. The game has been going on from 1988.. when the police sees winner's list, it dates the first game to 1988. The director actually said in an interview that the symbolism behind Gi Hun's red hair is his fury and anger. That's why at the end of the shoe he's ready to try and shut them down and take revenge on those who caused all those death. The box of Gi-Hun's gift to his daughter resembles the coffin where the eliminated players are placed and the light on the end of the gun represents how the players were burned in the coffins after they die The end with Il nam is the 7th game. He's on the 7th floor, the only floor available in the elevator, and it's focused on by the camera. That combined with the clock makes it the 7th game.
Yes people forget Sangwoo was fighting for his life to get the money and help his Mom otherwise he would have just killed himself which he was in the process of doing until he got the card for the game. He had nothing to lose and if he wasn’t manipulative he would be dead. The selfless act at the end showed that.
@@dwnkaomwn3953 true everyone in the game did horrible things which was why they were in the game to begin with but I think he wanted to make amends which when he knew he had lost and still could agree with Gin-Hun and leave the game alive he thought of his Mom and knew Gi-Hun would take care of her so he did care about his Mom in the end and tried to make amends.
The way I understood the motivations of Sang-Woo (218) is that the circle of people your humanity extends to shrinks dramatically as your livelihood and life itself gets in imminent danger. Sang-Woo showed kindness to Ali by giving him the bus fare, splitting the corn cob with him or helping Gi-Hun (456) during the first game by telling him to hide and move behind another contestant not because he expected a meaningful advantage out of it, but surely because if not put in a life or death situation it allows him deep down to be a decent human being who loves his mother like everyone else. I see a lot of people reacting to his actions with comments like "He's pure evil" or "I could've never done that to Ali". They seem to rush to the conclusion that they would be the better man when put in a situation where you fight for your life and have to make decisions about killing someone in order not to get killed yourself. Could Sang-Woo have played the games with more compassion? These are all strangers to him who came back voluntarily. And the games are designed to pit the contestants against each other on purpose by putting them into impossible situations. So you better come back to the games with the readiness to do what ever it takes to survive or expect certain death. Could Sang-Woo have trusted Gi-Hun more during the games? Considering how we were introduced to Gi-Hun, a man who steals money from his own mother, Sang-Woo couldn't have known Gi-Hun would become the righteous man he turned out to be at the very end. Sang-Woo's plea to Gi-Hun to take care of his mother showed me that his main motivation for participating in the game was to save his mother from financial ruin and shame. Once you are focused on that goal, every kill or death he causes almost necessitates his next action to be even more ruthless. Because now he can't stop or walk away from the path he's chosen. What would be the point of half measures in a game that triggers the worst instincts in people and makes them kill each other? What's the point of coming back to the game and dying as a "nice" person amongst people who are also going to die eventually. He killed Pickpocket (067) because if she and Gi-Hun had decided to stop the game that would've been a majority vote and none of them would've have gotten the money. Sang-Woo wouldn't have been able to save his mother. He would've given up his soul for nothing. I find it fascinating that a character like Sang-Woo is given so much complexity and facets but the audience still has the reflex to see him as a Halloween-Michael-Myers kind of villain at the end.
In the end, you realize that Sang-woo’s goal is no different from Gi-hun’s. Their reason for competing and trying to win the games for the prize money was not only to rid their debts, both were also trying to use the money to help their mothers who were suffering differently (For Gi-hun, his mother was suffering from diabetes while Sang-woo’s was unknowingly suffering financially)
I would say Gi-Hun didn't go to see his daughter because they knew exactly where he was when they gave him the card with the flowers, and they knew exactly where he was at the airport. The VIP's are rich enough that he wouldn't be safe anywhere while the games are going on.
@@METALSCAVENGER78 Well, let's not forget that he was robbing his mother blind before he played the game. He and Sang Woo were very similar in that regard. Gi Hun was able to redeem himself where Sang Woo didn't, but let's not get too carried away with the 'hero' labeling. I understand why he turned around, but I don't think he should have for multiple reasons. First, not showing up is going to cause his daughter more stress, of which she's surely had enough from him. Second, they know he's turning around. Why not go see his daughter and. potentially give them the idea that she's more important than dealing with them? He showed his hand without any plan forward.
@@Punko1969 I think he and his friend are actually opposite characters. He is driven by his emotions person, while his friend was a calculated, methological and cynical individual.Asa I said, he changed his mind about seeing his daughter when he saw the guy that led him to the game.He can't live with his conscience knowing that there will be hundreds other victims of this game.He knew that the money he won were blood money ande for a year he didn't spent for himself, but he helped people that were close to him..Not many people would do that.

An important thing to remember is that ending the game was not a real option. It meant going to back to poverty and death, either from loan sharks or whatever. Sang-woo had a mountain of debt, his mother would lose her home and he would go to jail for the better part of his life. His only options were to win, or die trusting that the person would win would help his mother.
I thought I was a pretty tough mountain man, but this show Broke me, and made me cry like a baby. I have watched probably 200 reactions to it, and no matter what, it still gets me. Thanks for letting me share some tears with you Kazzy. GODBless!!!
Did you notice that the only real winner was Ji Yeong, being as she only came to the game to redeem herself, and make a real connection. In my book she was the only true Winner of the Game and played it with complete Impeccability.
I will say this: Sang-woo was a by-product of what the people behind the games wanted the players to be. He was a down-on-his-luck businessman who was trying to work his way back on top and to fix his problems, but couldn’t find any options to do so until he received that invitation to compete. The people behind the games exploited his desire for his problems to be solved by indirectly making him a ruthless player who was willing to shed his humanity and betray others for own survival. Not only for his, but also for his mother’s.
Sang Woo was the only one there that knew where he was and what he needed to do to win. He knew how to get ahead without being looked at as a big threat. He just screwed up at the end.
There are a lot of moments where his body language highly indicates his regret, too. That's why I was so confused when people kept stereotyping him as some one-note "villain" when it's clear he wasn't. He did evil things, sure, but mainly because he knew he had to be ahead of the curve and, as you said, could see what others couldn't about the games. His regret kept piling on until it overtook him at the end and he ended up taking his own life as the smallest pursuance of trying to make the situation right--despite being unable to change the past. It doesn't make him a hero. It doesn't make him a "good guy". It just makes him a tragic and relatable character. If people were more honest with themselves, most of us would have been Sang-woo, not Gi-hun. He helped people where he could, but not at the expense of himself and, by proxy, his mother. We can stand on a soapbox all day and say we wouldn't do the same, but it's a pretty different story when your life depends on you proving how strong your sense of ethics are. For every Gi-hun wannabe that would make it as far as he did, a hundred more like him ended up fodder for the less moral-bound characters.
Sang Woo killing himself showed that his true concern was helping his mother. If they walked away she got nothing, by killing himself he knew he could help her. So his story becomes a question of what he would do for family rather than what he would do for himself. Would you sacrifice Ali or Sae-byeok to save your own family >? Both who were in the contest to be the final person standing.
Our great hero decided his selfish need to know why was more important than helping the man on the street. It didn't even occur to him that he could have gone down and helped himself. He just stood there and watched. There is only one hero in this story, and he was shot off a cliff. But even the cop was ok with murdering someone on the boat before he knew they killed anyone.
SANG WOO is the MVP of the entire series, he is the reason Gi-Han survive game 1, game 3, game 5, and finally game 6.. game 1, he gave clue to Gi-Han on how big doll works and about the time limit, game 3, people always give Oh-Ilnam's plans credit, even tough it didn't work, but sang woo made a last second decision to make a two steps forward, that made their opponents loose balance, yet almost no one gives credit to him, game 5, they are running out of time, if he didn't push the man in front of him, they would all die on the bridge, game 6, sang woo made a sacrifice so gi-han would win and get the money to help both him and his family.
I like how he brought Cheol and Sang-woo's mother together. It's a caring parent-figure for Cheol and someone to care for in Sang-woo's mother's case. I've really enjoyed your reactions to this series, thank you!
I love how your compassion towards Sang Woo was at a very low in the previous episode and couldnt care less about him.. yet you cried so much during his moment of sacrifice.. you truly have a big heart. The plot twist in the end is one i didnt see coming.. when the old man explained, all pieces fell in place. What an amazing run this was. I cant wait for season 2 to come.
To be fair to Sang-Woo, he knew how it would end up and that in the end only one person would come out of the games alive. So he played it without the burdens of being attached to anyone, including Gi-hun.
interesting to note the contrast between the horrified outburst you made in the first episode (when I bet myself you wouldn't make it through to the end) with the 'GET HIM!' you made when this game started...
it's easy to forget that they're only away for 5 days in total after they agreed to go back. It seems like such a long time because so much happened but they were gone for less than a week.
I don't think Gi-hun's final decision was an easy one to make, but i honestly believe that despite the odds, it's the right call. He knows that desperate people are being pulled in to die by the hundreds for others' sick entertainment every time a game is underway. He can't move on with his life, knowing that and not trying to do something about it. That, to me, is the TRUE sign that he won the final game with player 001-- despite everything he'd seen, he still believed in the best of people, and retained his humanity.
Family honor... that's what drive Sang-woo in the game. as long as he regains the respect back from his mother in the real word, he would everything to win. He understand what they do here in the games here will remain a secret to them and the organizers involved. That was his story arc in Episode 2
I'm so glad there's going to be a 2nd season. This show is about compassion and decency. The one who won the game had a kind heart but the experience scarred him for life. I hope he takes those VIPs down. Loved your reaction.
Thank you, Kazzy! 🦑 It was difficult to watch the brutality in this first season; I wouldn't fault you if you didn't want to continue next season (and supposedly a 2nd one is in the works, set to be released before the end of 2024). I'll be watching it, of course. But I want you to be sure to protect your own sensibilities.
It's possible (albeit painful to swim with) a gunshot wound to the shoulder, so I'm sure we'll see the cop again. Such a good reveal that I never saw coming either. Even though I wanted to see Sang-Woo dead, when he mentions our mothers not calling us in for dinner anymore..I felt that. Some things just suck as an adult and you can't go back to that security. I wanted Gi-Hun to see his daughter too, but with both the Game tracking him and an enormous amount of survivor's guilt and memory it made sense that he wants to shut the whole thing down so that noone has to endure that again. I think season two may be more of a straight revenge story with bits about the Frontman's journey to where he was in the show.
I really like the direction from the scene of Gi-hun encountering Sang-woo’s mother. You can obviously tell that Gi-hun didn’t want to look straight in the eye towards her after knowing her son’s death. Plus, how could Gi-hun speak or see her considering he tried to kill her own son three times
i really appricated your evaluation and emotional commitment throughout this series. not sure how much of your content will coincide with what i want to see but can i highly recommend 'My Mister' (My Ajusshi) as another Korean series that makes you think on the same levels. a show that transcends concepts of class and relationships, addresses issues of culture and basically makes you feel so much in a way you never expect
I don't know if anyone else has pointed out that all the main characters who died their deaths were foreshadowed in episode 1. Sang-woo committed suicide, Ali got screwed over, Kang saebyeok's throat was slit (she held her knife to the guys throat that was supposed to smuggle her Mom across the border), the gang member guy fell off a bridge (he jumped off the bridge and into the water to get away from the other gang people) and the old man died from his brain tumor
Loved your reactions and emotional postings. Thanks so much for sharing with us! I think protagonist was missing something in his life, led to his gambling. But, after his mother dies, and after his daughter moved on with her family into her new life, he finally realized that he has a new addiction to replace the gaming, as you said, his righteous path, self induced heroic attitude.
I loved all your reactions on this series, you are very entertaining to watch. I watch a lot of reaction videos on youtube and they right now are my favorite things to watch on the internet cause I feel like I am watching it with you and with this whole Covid thing and not going to the theater with friends or friend gatherings it gives me a sense of being alive again and enjoying just something everyday and I thank you for this. A crazy movie you should watch that reminds me of "The Strangers" is the film "You're Next". great film. I have already subscribed to your channel here on youtube and have been watching your reactions for a while now and as long as you keep on reacting I will enjoy spending my time watching, thank you.
There's an extremely interesting trend in Asian media/philosophy that I hope will eventually begin to seep in to American culture We have long since idealized the ideas of justice and vengeance, essentially the old west "Criminal gets what he has comin' " sort of idea and we love a scene where justice is doled out. It's so incredibly pervasive that the whole 'murder hobo' idea in games is so solidly the norm that when you find a villain and DON'T kill them a lot of people get very confused... However in Japanese, Korean and Chinese myths - the hero is usually not alone. The classic heroes journey usually involves a redeemed villain joining them, or at least realizing how far they've fallen and taking an action of sacrifice (even if it leaves such a heart tearing conclusion like this) It's part of why it's so common in anime and japanese games to have multiple antagonists become powerful and beloved allies. We could take some lessons on learning forgiveness of our enemies, while not requiring the white washing of the sins. People are complicated, but there should always be a way left to be better than the person you were yesterday. Even if you're a shitty person today. And better if the new path requires dedication, because it pays respect to the wrongs.
Yep most characters in U.S. American culture are extremely unidimensional. That's why I am a fan of Asian productions, they give you a lot more, they portray humanity in a much more realistic way.
when it comes to Sang-Woo I can understand/relate on most of the things he did throughout the game. He wanted to keep a low profile on this life and death game but his friend Gi-Hun just couldn't keep his mouth shut for a minute with the SNU graduated thing and really was running his mouth on and on,I still would have warned him about the umbrella but I can empathize with him. on Ali well ... it was either him or Ali and basically EVERYBODY would care about his own life first before another's so on that I TRULY don't blame in any way for that. on the glass guy it's almost the same thing,he was dragging 4 people down with him so Sang-Woo HAD to do it
I watched so many TH-camrs reacting to this show already. But the way you empathize with the characters in the show and the way you react made me to weep when you cry. I don't know if you plan to keep following K-dramas and if you do I suggest you give a present to yourself with a heartwarming drama. You tortured your soul with a gore drama 'Squid Game'. So I guess you deserve a good human drama. ;) Check out 'My Mister' from Netflix. Many people including myself call this drama one pick for lifetime. I hope you enjoy it.
The way this show made you go from "Oh I hate this guy!" into "No, I like him now!!" and then from "No I love this guy!" into "Noooo!! I hate you now!" is amazing.
And now we're all waiting for season 2. :) The writer/director barely got anything from making this show. Netflix gave him a great deal to make season 2 and he already had ideas and plots for season 2 as well as being inspired by fan theories. No release date yet but it's being worked on and this time he'll have a big team to help him make it. He was absolutely exhausted after making season 1 since he had to do all the writing and directing by himself and didn't plan on making another season anytime soon. Hopefully we'll get it in 2023.
I am exactly the same as you, I used to watch and enjoy like the SAW's and the Hellraiser's and the the graphic stuff and now i dont have the stomach for it anymore lol, maybe as i got older i left them behind we need wholesome now :)
if they both quit no one would have gotten the money, so he sacrificed himself to make sure he can do what he needs with the money, including taking care of his mom and the girls brother, tuff stuff
I can't picture Kazzy watching movies like Saw and Hostel so I was surprised when she said she used to enjoy them 😆. Horror films like Friday the 13th and Halloween are very graphic but there's a difference between movies like that and something like Squid Game. Squid Game gave some of the characters "real life" details which made them "feel" more like people (the woman who had a brother in the orphanage, the older man who said he was dying, even player 456 with his piles of debt and his severely diabetic mother. Halloween and other horror films just line up a group of victims for the meat grinder. We don't know that much about those people nor do they make us even care. I will disagree with Kazzy on one point. Player 456 DID change over time. He started out pretty self centered spending his mother's money to the point of deep debts, getting his daughter last minute gifts but spending her birthday money at the track etc. During the game he starts caring about other people because he gets to know some of them. He learns they aren't just nameless players in a game for money. When the game is over he goes to help his mother but it's already too late. Maybe then he learns that if he had been a better person before the game he could have helped his mother and maybe that's why he helps the little boy and Sang Woo's mother, he still can.
You thought it was a card for Squid Game because well-made shows don't show you a random meaningless card in a dramatic situation at an important part of a show and zoom in on it while slowly revealing what is on the back haha
They also don't tell you the guy in charge is away but will be back by the end of the games, then make the 001 guy really old and the only one happy to be there, then call off the riot when he suddenly appears and says so, then kill him off screen, and not have him turn out to be the missing chairman. If you're fluent in film language this show screams the twist at you the whole way through and I'm surprised how many people were surprised.
@@wcookiv I actually love how many things the show kind of reveals that even I missed the first time through, like showing us every single game that was going to be played.
@@SalvableRuin It can be a fine line between foreshadowing and giving things away. Clearly they didn't do as bad a job as I make it sound because they snuck it past most people. :)
For Sang Woo, I think he achieved "too much" and was in a mind set of keeping pushing himself, which I feel is how he achieved the social goal of "being successful". I think he came to the realization that achieving what he set out to do was unfulfilling, some what mirroring the life the VIPs experienced. So "pushing himself" he decided to take risks outside of acceptable limits and made bad choices that got himself far over his head, including his mother's assets. As far as the second season, I believe they are planning in. The writer never intended for there to be a second season but said if he was to write one it would be the back story about how the front man came to be where he was.
Well sang woo was literaly about to kill himself after game 1 and actually cared about his mom. Topher was just a degenerate serial killer that got sadistic joy out of his murders. Sang woo clearly never enjoyed killing but he was willing to do it.
One thing nobody asked which I'd have asked the first day is how many winners there can be. If the prize money gets distributed equally among 100 winners that's still a life-changing sum. On the other hand, I think a lot fewer people would have returned if they'd known their chance of survival was literally 456 to 1. Even towards the end it seemed like several of the players were under the impression there would be several winners. The married couple certainly had to be unclear on the possible outcomes. That's like betting your life on a lottery ticket.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure Gi-Hun will help your little brother.” Sure. After he allows the child to needlessly suffer for a full year while Gi-Hun wallows in self pity. 😜
@@wcookiv Did those other ppl have a promise to a now dead person take care of a small child, but instead let that child needlessly suffer for a year before they finally did something?
@@SolidSnake8295 I mean, if you need a villain I guess. It's not like he was living it up. He didn't even see his own kid. He wasn't even going to touch the winnings for that first year, so what was he gonna do, adopt the kid to live on the street with him? I get that you wanted him to rescue the kid right away but the guy was really messed up. You keep using the word 'needlessly' like you expect the character to be a perfect rational actor and this isn't that kind of show.
@@wcookiv I didn’t say he was a villain (though he is a POS). She said “I’m sure Gi-Hun will help your little brother” and I made a joke about how he would, but only after he waited a year. Since you want to talk about it from a serious standpoint: Think about what that little kid went though. Kids were already bullying him about how he had been abandoned and then his sister “abandoned” him too. And yeah, it was needless for that little kid to spend a full extra year in that hell.
@The Joker He didn’t need to “function in society again.” He needed to spend maybe a couple of hours to help the little brother of the woman he promised to help. Hell, it would have taken even less time to help Sang-woo’s mother. And then he could have wallowed in self-pity as much as he wanted.
If the 2nd Season comes out I'm really excited on what's Gi-hun (456) journey on stopping Squid Game. Hope that Junho ( The cop) can join with Gi-hun if he survive. There's definetly a lot of signs I heard that Il-nam (old man) is definetly Gi-hun's father.
It was the Greatest Show 🎥 and the Greatest Reaction 😎 of all time ! Great Job Kazzy ! 😊 I Hope We See you in the Next Season(The director is working on it now) 🍿 and other Korean Movies/Shows as well. 🖖 FYI, The SquidGame Director(황동혁) said "I watch all reaction videos on youtube to get some idea from them for the next season".
Everything Sang Woo said was absolutely right, as soon as Saebyeok said mister,I want to go home ,him and her could've stopped the game because they would have been the majority vote
Great reaction to the finale Kazzy. It was a hell of a ride and it got you in the feels didn't it? Really don't like seeing you cry tho.😢 Also I liked your insights at the end Kazzy.🙂✌️
it would be cool if gi hun and kang sae byoks brother team up in the next season to defeat the front man (when the brother is of course 10-15 years older because he looks like he is not even 10 and should not be in the game as a kid) gi hun could sneak into the game and give the brother information to win the games new games could be rock paper scissors dodgeball journey to Jerusalem and a few more of course
He maintained his humanity by trying to murder his best friend and before he was a degenerate gambler that literaly stole from his mom. Dude didn't have humanity before he was even more selfish than sang woo at the games.
I can understand the idea of having so much money it's pointless and you get bored with life. But I think Oh Il-Nam is mistaken when he says that's what makes him feel empty and joyless inside. There's a lot of emphasis on his childhood and wanting to participate in the game himself just so he could feel something again. The reason he was so happy playing these games as a child was he was with his friends, and probably cared just as much about them having a good time as himself. And that was before he got into whatever made him rich and powerful and he's forgotten his empathy. He feels empty and joyless inside because he's a monster.
The hard part of this episode, for me, is that the old man, as kind a nice as he seemed, was the most evil person of the whole show. He created the game, and perpetuated it, year after year. And you can't even use the argument that he was, at least, getting one person out of debt, because he believed that being rich was just as bad as being poor. So the winner, in his opinion, was just trading one form of misery for another. The VIPs were terrible for betting on people's deaths and enjoying it. The people who worked the game, we don't know if they are there on their own free will, or can't get out. But the old man was the ringleader, and was the worst of them all. And the fact that he entered the games for fun, but was never in any real danger just makes it worse.
They never removed the chip they implanted in him when the games began (remember how they could scan everyone?) So if he had gone to see his daughter they would know exactly where she lives and could use it against him if he ever tries to fight back
its true about economically challenged, so many times life sucks so bad that you just want it to end. I can remember times when I was semi well off, and had a good life. After health problems made it impossible to work, and have a good time, life just started sucking. The old man was correct.
I think they don't have to top the gore in the second season. They have now established that everyone losing a game or breaking the rules die. And after a while, the worst moments in the show isn't the bloody ones. It's when people you have sympathies for betray their friends, or when they get trapped in an impossible situation like the married couple in the marble game. The ones obsessed by money tend to be those who have either too little or too much. Like those obsessed with food seems to be either anorectic or very obese.
Oh..those aren't the most twisted horror films Kazz. Although there was a time when I would've agreed with you. A time before seeing The Green Inferno (Eli Roth's tribute to Cannibal Holocaust--which is also worthy of mention here) Human Centipede 2, The Woman, Her Name Was Christa, Antichrist, or Deadgirl. THEN I would've said THOSE are the sickest, most twisted horror movies. But even that would be a time before the "Horror Movie Iceberg". To give some context, some of the films I mentioned are on the iceberg--which has 8 levels. At the top are your popcorn horror films like Scream, Annabelle, Insidious, etc. Level 2 has the ones you mentioned, Hostel, Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Level 3 has some of the films I mentioned and...that is as far down the iceberg as I've gone and I have ZERO desire to venture any further. Wendigoon does a great breakdown of the whole iceberg here on TH-cam and there's stuff that'd make Jeffrey Dahmer vomit.
The second season is already in the works. The creator recently spoke about the cast members who will be coming back. Tell your bro thanks for the great song but he has to stick with Squid Game.
I completely agree with your perspective about not having money. I remember a story about some native Americans describing the difference between living in poverty that they saw the white people experience vs just not having money but still having their nature culture where they made use of nature and placed values on aspects other than having money.
I got tossed out at 16 due to my dad getting remarried and she didnt want "kids" in the house. I had a $200 car and 2 months worth of expenses paid for to figure it out. I emancipated myself, got my GED and got lucky to land a job in the machining field. Over the course of the last 19 years, I have done extremely well for myself between working and some lucky investments. At the end of the day it cost me my girlfriend of 10 years and my daughter. I tell you what, I'd trade it all back to get them back in my life. I have enough saved that I am basically retired at 35 years old and day trade for something to do. Even with surrounding myself with all the toys I could ever dream of, I am still just unhappy and miserable without them. Coming from nothing to where I am now, you cannot buy a fulfilling lifestyle. Two days ago was my 35th birthday and I got a text from 3 people acknowledging it. None of which were my family or my daughter. Keep your family close people. That is the only thing important in life.
I seen a movie that was so screwed up once...ONCE! that I still some times think about it to this day. It wasn't the greatest movie and it was not very well known I don't think but it was called TUSK and it stars Justin Long and was made by Kevin Smith I think. That movie was so screwed up. I would never watch it again. Once was enough.
The vast majority of people, including almost everyone you know, and very possibly yourself, would not behave like 456 if you would put in that situation. The majority of people are not going to sacrifice themselves for people they don't know over a game. Most people would act like 218 or try their best to be the last one left alive. But everyone wishes they were like 456 (or imagine they would be). He wasn't "faking it" out in the real world. He just wasn't put under pressure where any wrong move could mean his death. 99% of people would not be decent or moral in that situation.
Yay! I hope you will react to Jessica Jones soon. I voted for it on Patreon, but it concerns a lot of the same issues of living with yourself after doing bad things.
If you want a more nuanced and less shock-murdery exploration of class structure, and the difficult choices people are forced to make, I highly suggest Arcane. It's really a masterpiece of characterization.
This series wasn't as good for me because I saw the big twist really early on. As soon as they mentioned the chairman wasn't available, I suspected 001, and I was certain when they ended the riot as soon as he says so. Having them kill him off screen was just confirmation. Knowing he would be re-entering the story, I knew who would survive the final game, so as soon as Sae Byeok died I was just checked out of the story. There were some excellent performances, but if you're familiar with battle royale or class-consious narratives there really wasn't much about the story itself that was surprising or engaging. All of the characters just sort of played out their story archetypes. I'm glad it got the attention it did for the sake of the actors and Korean cinema in general, but I really didn't find the series as groundbreaking as general audiences did.
There's alot of things you didn't cath onto and I blame subtitles for it. I know everyone says subtitles are supiror to dubs but dubs have their perks. If you weren't looking down at the screen the whole time, you might of noticed the old man's blood and body were not there during an eagle eye camera view. You would've also known what gambu meant when it was on the card. I prefer dubs.
There are a few clues that point to player 001’s true identity:
1. First, during the games he is the only player who seemed to be having fun smiling all the time
Another random fun facts:
All the games are painted on the walls in the main bunker room with the beds.
The box of Gi-Hun's gift to his daughter resembles the coffin where the eliminated players are placed and the light on the end of the gun represents how the players were burned in the coffins after they die
The end with Il nam is the 7th game. He's on the 7th floor, the only floor available in the elevator, and it's focused on by the camera. That combined with the clock makes it the 7th game.
Sang-woo's final action changed my mind about him. I think that showed that he did everything he did not for himself, but for his mom.
Yeah it's crazy how Sangwoo is generally hated by the viewers but somehow they made people get emotional or cry over him at the end
Yes people forget Sangwoo was fighting for his life to get the money and help his Mom otherwise he would have just killed himself which he was in the process of doing until he got the card for the game. He had nothing to lose and if he wasn’t manipulative he would be dead. The selfless act at the end showed that.
@@keni203 Sang woo wasn't selfless when he sold his mother's shop as collateral. She wouldn't be needing any help at all if it wasn't for her son.
He's just a bad father. He could have gone to see his daughter and then went off on his crusade to save the world.
@@moondog3056 No, he is simply for the greater good. He wants that evil destroyed before claiming other peoples' lives. He is a hero

SANG WOO is the MVP of the entire series, he is the reason Gi-Han survive game 1, game 3, game 5, and finally game 6.. game 1, he gave clue to Gi-Han on how big doll works and about the time limit, game 3, people always give Oh-Ilnam's plans credit, even tough it didn't work, but sang woo made a last second decision to make a two steps forward, that made their opponents loose balance, yet almost no one gives credit to him, game 5, they are running out of time, if he didn't push the man in front of him, they would all die on the bridge, game 6, sang woo made a sacrifice so gi-han would win and get the money to help both him and his family.
he also hung him out to dry in Game 2, just sayin'

THANK YOU KAZZY FOR WATCHING THIS! Also I would Love to see a Saw Movie Reaction!
Kazzy in episode 1: OH MY GOD! How can you guys watch this?!
Kazzy in episode 9: GET HIM! GET HIM! GET HIM!
Sang-Woo sacrificed himself. He is a saint. 🥺
The protagonist has come such a long way since the start.
The People who made the Game Probably know where all the Winners are at.
There's an extremely interesting trend in Asian media/philosophy that I hope will eventually begin to seep in to American culture
We have long since idealized the ideas of justice and vengeance, essentially the old west "Criminal gets what he has comin' " sort of idea
and we love a scene where justice is doled out. It's so incredibly pervasive that the whole 'murder hobo' idea in games is so solidly the norm
that when you find a villain and DON'T kill them a lot of people get very confused...
However in Japanese, Korean and Chinese myths - the hero is usually not alone. The classic heroes journey usually involves a redeemed
villain joining them, or at least realizing how far they've fallen and taking an action of sacrifice (even if it leaves such a heart tearing conclusion like this)
It's part of why it's so common in anime and japanese games to have multiple antagonists become powerful and beloved allies.
We could take some lessons on learning forgiveness of our enemies, while not requiring the white washing of the sins.
People are complicated, but there should always be a way left to be better than the person you were yesterday. Even
if you're a shitty person today.
He wanted to keep a low profile on this life and death game but his friend Gi-Hun just couldn't keep his mouth shut for a minute with the SNU graduated thing and really was running his mouth on and on,I still would have warned him about the umbrella but I can empathize with him. on Ali well ... it was either him or Ali and basically EVERYBODY would care about his own life first before another's so on that I TRULY don't blame in any way for that. on the glass guy it's almost the same thing,he was dragging 4 people down with him so Sang-Woo HAD to do it
CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 2!
So I guess you deserve a good human drama. ;)
Check out 'My Mister' from Netflix. Many people including myself call this drama one pick for lifetime.
I hope you enjoy it.
The second season is alleged to focus at least in part on the Front Man's story.
The way this show made you go from "Oh I hate this guy!" into "No, I like him now!!" and then from "No I love this guy!" into "Noooo!! I hate you now!" is amazing.
And now we're all waiting for season 2. :)
The writer/director barely got anything from making this show.
If Gi-Hun killed Sang-Woo in his sleep, then Gi-Hun and Sae-Byeok would be killing each other in the final.
I was very glad that 456 didn't have to kill his opponent - even if he might have deserved it . . .
Oh Yeong-Su, the actor that played the old man starred in a wonderful film called “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring”. I recommend it.
WHAT A RIDE!!!!!!!!!
Hi Kazzy hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Finale was amazing!! I'm looking forward to your reaction!
Yes, second season is confirmed
So kinda like how Topher Grace's character in Predator. Where he comes off as innocent, but is actually a creep.
@ 20:23....remember in the van on the ferry, where they've scan the tattoo barcode on every player's behind the ear.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure Gi-Hun will help your little brother.”
Sure. After he allows the child to needlessly suffer for a full year while Gi-Hun wallows in self pity. 😜
Judging what we've seen of thee runner up and previous winners, I'd say he's handling it rather well.
Definitely wondering if second season is going to be the ‘Catching Fire’ to first season’s ‘Hunger Games’
Everything Sang Woo said was absolutely right, as soon as Saebyeok said mister,I want to go home ,him and her could've stopped the game
because they would have been the majority vote
9:56 Kazzy has just had it with those idiots🤣
Kazzy: "what kind of human beings watch people in games where they get killed?"
Also Kazzy: 7:10
If I was rich enough to 'have it all ' I'd love to use that money to make friends that have helped me over the years happy .
One thing that get's over looked is - they have all been micro-chipped - both players and guards.
Great reaction to the finale Kazzy. It was a hell of a ride and it got you in the feels didn't it? Really don't like seeing you cry tho.😢 Also I liked your insights at the end Kazzy.🙂✌️
it would be cool if gi hun and kang sae byoks brother team up in the next season to defeat the front man (when the brother is of course 10-15 years older because he looks like he is not even 10 and should not be in the game as a kid)
gi hun could sneak into the game and give the brother information to win the games
new games could be
rock paper scissors
dodgeball
journey to Jerusalem
and a few more of course
Now we wait for season 2
He gave Ali a bus cash because of superiority complex
13:40, he survived and was alive, outwardly, but inwardly he was dead.
SHOW TITLE: Squid Game, yet they barely played the game and went on to start a Fight Club..lol
So well written 👏
"my name" kdrama 🎉
They never removed the chip they implanted in him when the games began (remember how they could scan everyone?)
So if he had gone to see his daughter they would know exactly where she lives and could use it against him if he ever tries to fight back
it's an RFID chip. It has to be scanned in close proximity to be functional. It simply stores information. It's not a real-time tracking device.
Second season is coming. You’ll want to watch it as it’s the conclusion/resolution.
Hey kazzy , love all your reactions and reviews of movies and shows ! When are you gonna react to the Elvis movie trailer 2022 ?! It's pretty good
its true about economically challenged, so many times life sucks so bad that you just want it to end. I can remember times when I was semi well off, and had a good life. After health problems made it impossible to work, and have a good time, life just started sucking. The old man was correct.
Satisfaction is fleeting
Daría lo que fuera por una segunda temporada
I'm pretty sure the police guy is alive 😉
That is the only thing important in life.
they know he is at the airport because he still has the microchip embedded in him.
Can recommend "Alice in borderland". Also a cool show
You should definitely try more korean stuff 👌
isnt it a bit ironic to call fictional characters idiots while you, who seemingly cant stand the sight of deaths, is "watching" a death game show?
If you want a more nuanced and less shock-murdery exploration of class structure, and the difficult choices people are forced to make, I highly suggest Arcane. It's really a masterpiece of characterization.
excellent show
SanWoo cared more for his mother than Gihun
It's Korea, not America. It's very unlikely that someone would try to steal the money.
You should watch all of us are dead
