I've been reading news in Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian and Catalan to maintain those languages. Even if each piece of news takes only 5 to 10 minutes to read, at the end of the day, it takes a lot of time. I created a multilingual news feed with sites of my choice with the Braver browser, which helps. The same for German, but with German I copy two paragraphs a time to chatgpt and have it create an interlinear version of them in a matter of seconds. Reading a single piece of news in German that way, considering the analyzing I do takes the same time I read 3 pieces of news in French, for instance. I'll try studying German, Norwegian and Dutch on Duolingo every day to see if I can reach basic reading skills on those in 12 months. Right now, I understand one full German sentence, half of another sentence, and 10% of the next. It all boils down to lack of vocabulary in the end.
You can get great language audio input here on youtube with bilingual stories, they will read a sentence of a story in English then read the same sentence in target language. Polyglot Beats on youtube does that well for multiple languages (check out their playlist section, they have all languages you are doing) and there other channels for specific languages... its been helping me get passive listening and learning when going on walks or doing chores... time is by FAR hardest obstacle in language learning - anything that can get us some passive listening learning is a plus! 😊
There are dozens of reasons why one might invest the time to learn foreign languages, including but not limited to, family, professional, academia, travel, culture, phonology, etc. But the worst, and I suspect the most common, reason is to appear smart and sophisticated to others. So my advice to prospective polyglots is be brutally honest with yourself as to WHY you want to learn eight languages before you even begin. Do you you study Russian because you yearn to be an expert on the writings of Dostoyevsky? Do you study ancient Greek because you are fascinated by the intellect of Thucydides? I rarely hear polyglots speak of WHY. Time is life. Spend it wisely.
What is the role of rote memorization in language learning? I am particularly interested in learning poetry in foreign languages like Faust Nacht monolog or De naturae in Latin.
Would you ever consider publishing your manuscripts in some form? i.e. either via pdf online on your website or possibly through a publishing house if there were sufficient interest?

How'd you do this?
@fezzyman-tfs5100 Look up "Brave news screenshots" on the images option. Pretty sure you'll understand how to activate it.
