I went to downtown Los Angeles at 3 AM just driving around to see what’s happening in downtown LA on a Saturday night so people gotten arrested and lots of other crazy things. It was a fun night.
Former LA City Councilmember Jose Huizar was sentenced to 13 years in prison in a corruption case that involved cash bribes with a local real estate. Owners left for China. Declared bankruptcy. Good luck collecting $ from them. 😅
.... and so was his chief of staff.
A lot of people may do the scanner thing but you make things more interesting.
We have a local "auditor" guy Gabriel whose TH-cam channel "SLO County Observer" here in San Luis Obispo, CA has voluntarily stopped posting videos because the local police encrypted their scanner communications, thereby getting rid of his asinine interference with their investigations, by insulting them. It sucks for me because I can no longer hear their communications now, as an ordinary "citizen". I hope he's back in his mom's house, looking for a real job, and stays off TH-cam... 😉

I used to skateboard very late in DTLA, Id go to the Ralphs mkt on 9th. Then ride back to 6th /Spring where I lived. Surprisingly no1 ever messed w me. Altho I could make a fast getaway🛹‼️🥰🖤
I used to go for nice walks late at night. It was relaxing. But now I'm indoors before it gets dark .❤😊

What a JOKE!! paying cops with tax dollars to guard an abandoned building from it being painted with graffiti ART!! With All the Real Crime in the city, they chose the cake walk job of looking for graffiti artists…. What a clown show.

If they think a fence is going to stop any graffiti artists from bombing those buildings they are very mistaken, doesn’t matter if it’s the same fence they put around a prison with razor wire, not going to stop them.
That guy with the radio scanners is what they used to call a "stringer" it's someone who will go out, freelance, and take photos of accidents and various newsworthy things. A famous old-time stringer was a guy called "Weegee" who covered Los Angeles in the 1930s - 1950s. It's an old tradition.

I love GIV's outlook on things. He loves his city but recognizes it has problems like anywhere else. He avoids the binary approach of either 1.) Declaring a city a "shithole" and then they aiming to prove that to be true - or - 2.) They pretend a place is perfect and avoid showing its challenges. That's what makes GIV the man.

@germaninvenice 🌆Hi Mike! Dang you're heck of brave going to Downtown LA🌴at that time by yourself. Hope you don't get jumped by someone. Mike you say $30 for parking in downtown is expensive....In 2009 parking in Downtown LA was $20 to $25 a day. That was hell of expensive for 2009. So for only a $5 increase over 15 years is not that bad. Parking at a hotel in San Francisco in the 1980s was $20.... that's crazy!🌃

Hello again!...I loved your Art gallery tour. I posted on that page. I'm both a fellow Artist, and of German heritage. Both my grandma and grand dad, emigrated from Germany, in the 1890s. It may have been called the Austro-German region. My Pop was born in 1911, in the USA. His folks, my grand parents died when I was quite young and I never knew them. We did't speak German in our household. Man,...when do you sleep? Up at all hours. I'm retired and sleep weird hours too, and I like staying up late. I stay indoors, and well I'm in Ohio, and it is winter and cold. Later.

Your late night hours...have you noticed this started after awhile, when you went on Metformin? As it can cause insomnia and for some people. also another side effect is, running to bathroom a lot which I call a "crap-fest" not fun! 😕 I usually am up til 4am to 5am. I work from home so, I have my own hours. Saturday I worked 16 hrs with breaks in between. Went to bed around 2 am. Watched tv til I fell asleep. Discuss with your doctor about maybe your body clock is messed up becoz of the Metformin. Mine is but it don't matter when I am self employed and work from home lol. Another nice video Mike. That guys is more better equipped with all that gear in his car than some news agencies I think lol....That will be great to do a riodfe along with him some night Mike! That method of painting exterior from a rope is called a swing stage or a bosun's chair. It's not bad unless you're scared of heights..lol from a retired wall dog
I myself Abseil or rappel on high rise buildings for a glazing company. Yes it can be dangerous, but with a lot of training, and experience it definitely can be done safely. We are required to have two ropes lowered down, one for a safety backup and the other for a descender or ascender. It's definitely not a job for everyone.

My sister lives in Omaha. She is an older lady with not lots to do. She has a police scanner and listened to cities all over the US. She listened to the scanner on Valentine's Day when there was a shooting at the KC Chief's Superbowl Parade.
