Love the video but where you confuse me is showing the 2 clips against FSU where we came from the middle of the field showed his range to intercept passes on the sideline. Then you question his range.
I hear you, I was questioning his range in structure (in terms of his interceptions). Almost all of them were on broken plays, so he was ranging around after the play broke down
hmmm a boom or bust prospect on the defensive side. Love hearing the great qualities but his best situation will sadly depend on the DC/defensive HC that has a legit vision for him to make him work.
Is it just me or does he Remind anyone of Simmons from Clemson? Kinda suspect against the run from a physicality standpoint, and watching him at ND it’s tough to figure out exactly where he should play.
@@diggingmystyle Kyle ran a 4.59 vs 4.39. That is a bit scary for me. Good instincts make up for some lack of speed, but in just in his division there are a ton of fast receivers he's gonna get tested by.

I wasn't that high on him leading up to the draft. Then the Ravens took him and frankly, they have don't miss that often. Good scouting, good coaching on the defensive side of the ball.
Now look where he ended up and he does exactly what that Ravens Defense needs…. Cover the RB in the flat and wheel routes and TE’s in the slot! One of the few weaknesses of The Ravens Defense! A Top 5 player at 14 is a steal!
Well I'd say the hype is definitely there for Malik, he just could be incredibly risky. From a pure arm strength (not arm talent) and athleticism perspective he's definitely intriguing
@@AlexRollinsNFL perhaps foolish on my part but could not care less how far he can throw. A QB’s optimal range, what he’ll need to really excel at, is 10-40 yards. The tape I’ve watched suggested inaccuracies. I’m also just an overly cautious evaluator and think teams overdraft QBs because of their position, not their talent.
If/when Jags take Hutchinson w/ the 1st overall selection, if the Lions then take him at #2 overall....I’d be SUPER happy w/ that pick. I’d so much rather take Hamilton-with his incredibly high floor & unlikelyness to miss-than gamble on Travon Walker developing into everything he wasn’t college based on the combine. Playing the actual game is an entirely different ball of wax than testing to have great athleticism. And this kid can play the game. Day 1 starter automatically making your defense better on the first snap of the first game. He’s almost as close to a sure thing as it gets in my book, & an immensely safe pick for a team that absolutely cannot get it wrong.
I look at Kyle Hamilton and see a young Harrison Smith. The only question is whether he lands with a DC who can use him as a Swiss Army knife. I think he’d be a great fit for the New York Jets.
People keep say his comp is Isaiah, but I think you are spot on about it being Smith, and the reason I think his lack of speed won't hurt him. Harrison ran a 4.57 and is one of the best.
Thank you Alex! I knew Hamilton wasn’t a slam dunk player. He’s a generational athlete but not a generational player. He has tackling and coverage issues. If a team knows how to use him, he can dominate. However, you have to be sure.
tweeners have to be drafted by the right team, preferably a 3-4 scheme which depends on the athleticism and speed of their outside linebackers and safeties more than a 4-3 team.
I came to this video after watching his 1st 2 preseason games and seeing him almost give up a TD in the Arizona game I'm trying to find answers the rest of the ravens flock are saying he should be droy but I'm seeing everything you pointed out
The last player that had almost universal praise as a prospect that Alex and I agreed was a tad overrated was Isaiah Simmons. Similar players. Huge "safeties". Simmons is a better athlete. Hamilton has better instincts but both might not have a true position in the NFL. Simmons is a off ball LB with some versatility. I like Hamilton but people saying he's the best player in the draft and a top 5 pick I completely disagree with. I lean more pick 16-32. He's a good athlete but not a freak like everyone is saying. Much slower then Derwin and Jeremy Chinn and Dugger. Not as explosive either ( still good explosive numbers tho ). He's also not as physical as any of those guys. He has really good length and changes direction well for a big DB. I think he'll be really good against the TE's. But you can find guys like Eric Rowe and Jayron Kearse and others for cheap.
You had me till the projection, there aren't 16 to 32 players better than Kyle. His ceiling is also higher than Rowe, Kearse, Dugger and you can argue Chinn
@@Chrisd0ntmiss We'll see. You probably would've said the same about Simmons and would've been wrong. Every year there's guys that everybody loves and some just don't live up to the hype. Me and Alex were both lower on Simmons and Chase Young then everyone who was giving them Gold jackets before playing a snap and SO FAR we are correct. And yes his ceiling is higher, which is why I have him as a 1st round pick. But I don't love him like most.
@@Chrisd0ntmiss I love the optimism but his ceiling is as good as the situation he ends up in. If he ends up in a team that absolutely cannot figure him out, Dugger and Chinn are still producing and hitting their respective ceilings because they are in systems within very clear defined roles.
“It’s not like he’s gonna play nickel in the nfl” 😂 he’s answered all these questions, and the answer is yes. He can play all those positions and play them well
How many safety’s are we going to ask what their actual position is? It’s something I personally am tired of hearing. If they can play they can play. Other than that, I continue to love the breakdowns. Thanks for the content
Its the Simmons/JOK thing for him. I think the issue for Hamilton he's not nearly as fast. His 3 cone and explosiveness are all there. I think the reason for concern is him trying to cover anyone like a Calvin Austin in the slot, or getting lost and allowing guys to beat him deep. If he can't cover, then he's just a linebacker hybrid and selecting someone that high isn't winning football. Personally I think he's more linebacker than safety. A 4.7 pro day 40 isn't good enough. Its fine for college but in the pros, those guys are too crafty.
Hamilton now in his second season is proving the Ravens front office right in taking him at 14. Having an All Pro season this year (2023). As for the claim he is not fast enough, look at the film of him covering Guyton (Chargers)….at nineteen plus miles per hour….right alongside the 4.3 running WR.
Isaiah Simmons4.39 from the Cardinals comes to mind, he is way faster than kyle Hamilton4.59. He might be better suited checking tight ends or as a outside blitzer. He better stay away from the slot receivers Hunter Renfrow, Cooper Kupp.
Good video but I definitely feel like you either needed more games to study or more time with the film. He has little issues squaring up and making hits especially in the open field and I can absolutely see him being more than capable or making plays in the box and at the los. But I agree with you, He would have major issues covering any speed slots in the league. Big slots and TEs He can do very well against though. I also don't think it's on him to define a position for himself. The best coaches define roles around guys skill sets and with all his tools I think it comes down to the system and the DC. 110% a boom or bust.
Thanks Dru! I mentioned in the video that he has trouble squaring up tackles, it seemed like way too often he wasn't getting his hips through and punishing dudes straight backwards. I liked the way he closed from depth more than I liked the way he played in the box, but yeah, only had a limited couple of games to watch. Any others you recommend?
How can you say that he needs to pick a position right after saying the safety position is all about versatility? Also when was his range in single high lacking? You saw him haul ass from sideline to sideline
Great question. If his versatility translates and he can excel at many different positions he will be phenomenal, but if he can't take on the burden of playing many different spots there's a question mark of where he would actually fit in. That was an example of great range, but as I mentioned in the video a lot of his biggest plays come out of structure
its because NFL coaches still work off the defined roles from how they understand the game in a conservative way. Meaning it is VERY easy to miscast guys on defense and have them not produce properly. Or have the right talents to support their versatility.
He's exactly like Isaiah Simmons. Can do a lot of different things but not one thing really well. Doesn't really have good run stopping skills. Needs to go to a team/system like the Patriots where he'll be used to his potential. If the Jets or Giants take him they'll use him as a one high safety and he'll struggle.
Let's pray he falls to Minnesota at #12 , seems like the perfect Harrison Smith replacement and can learn from him before eventually taking over the Defense

Usually they play another position and get put in the position of Safety at the college level so it’s one of those weird positions where a large variety of sizes and speeds occur. I love the position and am excited to see players like Derwin James develop even further.
Ur statement of how you would use him is exactly why he is a great raven pick
It's the same thing about Jeremiah owusu they said. He doesn't belong to one set position, as someone who watched every game he played, hes going to be able to transist easily to NFL he's going to have a stellar career. Perfect fit for him in Baltimore
Very insightful video Alex. While a bit clunky, do you have a pro comp for Hamilton based on the 4 games you saw?
Thanks Tris! I was getting a lot of Isaiah Simmons vibes but more so the Clemson version of Simmons since we haven't seen Simmons really do his thang in Arizona
@@AlexRollinsNFL while simmons isnt the swiss army knife he was at clemson, he has won 3 games for AZ with his play in the clutch (SEA,DAL,SF). In 2 seasons, I'd say that is pretty good. The issue with Hamilton is the lack of athleticism is a knock at every position.
Alex! Great video as always, I think that in terms of his usage I would love to see him in a way that Derwin James was/is used. I think he can play in 2hi, 1hi (sometimes), but I also would l love to see him in a defense that uses him in the slot, box, and against tight ends and RB’s, but I don’t wanna see him with some non-creative defensive coordinator. I think he can do a lot of different things and will he just fine in the NFL
Thanks brother, good to hear from you! Yes, his DC will have to utilize primarily his versatility to get the most out of him. I'd hate to see him get slotted into just one position
Talented and extremely smart and calm. Polamalu - Hamilton. You will see.
Love it!
I was thinking more of a Sean Taylor/Bob Sanders hybrid...with the instincts of Ed & Troy...
Love the video but where you confuse me is showing the 2 clips against FSU where we came from the middle of the field showed his range to intercept passes on the sideline. Then you question his range.
I hear you, I was questioning his range in structure (in terms of his interceptions). Almost all of them were on broken plays, so he was ranging around after the play broke down
Alex would love to see a similar video on sauce. Lotta mocks with him coming to the jets
I'll put him on the list!
Do you think he is a very similar prospect to Isaiah Simmons coming out of Clemson?
Yes!!
3:07 "Número uno"
hmmm a boom or bust prospect on the defensive side. Love hearing the great qualities but his best situation will sadly depend on the DC/defensive HC that has a legit vision for him to make him work.
This guy can see into the future. Best content out there. Keep up the excellent work.
Thanks David!
I've BEEN saying this
Is it just me or does he Remind anyone of Simmons from Clemson? Kinda suspect against the run from a physicality standpoint, and watching him at ND it’s tough to figure out exactly where he should play.
That's what I was thinking the entire time!
@@AlexRollinsNFL simmons rat a 4.38 tho
He's 10x better than Simmons. Simmons is perhaps a better athlete but not a good football player.
@@diggingmystyle Kyle ran a 4.59 vs 4.39. That is a bit scary for me. Good instincts make up for some lack of speed, but in just in his division there are a ton of fast receivers he's gonna get tested by.
@@jimralston4789 did you watch his Combine 40? The guy doesn't know how to run track and ran out of bounds right away. He then gets back on track and then almost ran out of bounds again at the end. He was timed in the 4.4s throughout his career at ND and is coming off a surgery. His speed won't be an issue.
What u think Tht bears do in this year draft ?
OL OL and more OL
"We draft good.... except receiving"

nice breakdown man thanks, i also read that hes born to guard big TE which really hurt the ravens last year.
Thanks brother! Yes, I'd agree with that

Where would he be projected if he wasn't 6'4 with a big frame?
Fire video
Thanks brother!
He looks like he has great anticipation skills ala Ed Reed.
I wasn't that high on him leading up to the draft. Then the Ravens took him and frankly, they have don't miss that often. Good scouting, good coaching on the defensive side of the ball.
The real debate about "who's better" this draft season is between AlexRollinsNFL and That Franchise Guy
Now look where he ended up and he does exactly what that Ravens Defense needs….
Cover the RB in the flat and wheel routes and TE’s in the slot!
One of the few weaknesses of The Ravens Defense!
A Top 5 player at 14 is a steal!
Based on your draft analysis this far, I’d definitely rather take a shot at Hamilton than Willis. I just don’t see the hype with Malik.
He’s been a beast a key reason the Ravens defense is so damn hard to crack.
Great work
Thank you Johnny!
"About to be drafted in the top 5"
Holy shit did the ravens get a steal at 14
Seems like the kind of guy Belicheck or Bowles would love if he fell to them somehow
"check out this man running like got damn Air Bud" HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
why'd you put clips of Michigan v ohio state in the intro
INCREDIBLY hard finding Broll on this years prospects 😂
Reminds me of a more athletic Harrison Smith n a bigger honey badger
He's a Raven now! We gonna turn him into one of the best in the league, just watch.
Thank you Alex! I knew Hamilton wasn’t a slam dunk player. He’s a generational athlete but not a generational player. He has tackling and coverage issues. If a team knows how to use him, he can dominate. However, you have to be sure.
He's not even a generational athlete.
tackling and coverage issues what 💀
*a generational college player
@@jonathanvest4204 these people have never seen him play 😂
tweeners have to be drafted by the right team, preferably a 3-4 scheme which depends on the athleticism and speed of their outside linebackers and safeties more than a 4-3 team.
Drafted by the Ravens! Hes perfect for our scheme and tradition.
I came to this video after watching his 1st 2 preseason games and seeing him almost give up a TD in the Arizona game I'm trying to find answers the rest of the ravens flock are saying he should be droy but I'm seeing everything you pointed out
You got your answers now ?
I feel like he's good at a lot of things, but when you look more specifically at what you'd ask him to do it gets kinda blurry
@@Chrisd0ntmiss I love the optimism but his ceiling is as good as the situation he ends up in. If he ends up in a team that absolutely cannot figure him out, Dugger and Chinn are still producing and hitting their respective ceilings because they are in systems within very clear defined roles.
@@AlexRollinsNFL And of course he gets drafted by my Ravens. Lol. I hope he's gonna be better than I think he'll be
Lions @ 2, Hamilton over the DE's. Safety is key in our defensive scheme.
Nice breakdown.
God I wish we could draft him in NOLA but that’s never happening because we’re too far back to jump up high enough for him.
If that lineman blocks hamilton. Purdue gets that 1 yard. Great play none the less
kyle hamilton is like the kyle pitts of safeties
cant wait for someone to try and put Hamilton in coverage against Cooper Kupp, bro would get burnt immediately
Hamilton & Jeremy Chinn would be a terrifying combo in Carolina. Too bad they're going to draft QB or OT.
If chargers can shore their RT up and this guy falls to 17, I can't even imagine him on the field with Derwin! 🤯
I think he would be his best in a 2 high safety system for sure
Yes
“It’s not like he’s gonna play nickel in the nfl” 😂 he’s answered all these questions, and the answer is yes. He can play all those positions and play them well
I think he’s a faster, and better, Jeremy Chinn
Except not faster.
But he’s literally not faster
Lol! He pretty much is mostly playing nickel in the NFL and he's elite at it!
Isaiah Simmons4.39 from the Cardinals comes to mind, he is way faster than kyle Hamilton4.59. He might be better suited checking tight ends or as a outside blitzer. He better stay away from the slot receivers Hunter Renfrow, Cooper Kupp.
So what’s the one reason?
@@AlexRollinsNFL guess not
Anyone else here after the best team in the afc north drafted him?
Hamilton has the most potential out of the safety position that we’ve ever seen.
But as we all know, potential will get you fired.
We just saw Derwin James like 4 years ago and Isaiah 2 years ago
So did Taylor Mays
Potential? The guy makes play after play.
Never mind him. He is a Pittsburgh fan. Him mad Hamilton is a Raven
Welcome to Baltimore
How do you feel about him as a 14th pick? You graded him assuming he’d go top 5, I’d love to hear your take post draft
I believe the organization is just as crucial as scheme fit/surrounding talent etc. The Ravens will make him legit, perfect landing spot
@@AlexRollinsNFL got him
I'm a big ND fan and even I think this guy is being over-hyped. He is not a sure prospect, and has some things he still needs to work on.
That’s basically every prospect in every draft, that’s what coaching is for
These types of reports seem like they're making him out to be the 2nd coming of Ed Reed. I hope they're right.
Perfect fit for the ravens
How can you say that he needs to pick a position right after saying the safety position is all about versatility?
Also when was his range in single high lacking? You saw him haul ass from sideline to sideline
Exactly this man was all over the place
Great question. If his versatility translates and he can excel at many different positions he will be phenomenal, but if he can't take on the burden of playing many different spots there's a question mark of where he would actually fit in.
That was an example of great range, but as I mentioned in the video a lot of his biggest plays come out of structure
its because NFL coaches still work off the defined roles from how they understand the game in a conservative way. Meaning it is VERY easy to miscast guys on defense and have them not produce properly. Or have the right talents to support their versatility.
He wont quite be a top 5 pick but hes a great player and this is a great vid
He's exactly like Isaiah Simmons. Can do a lot of different things but not one thing really well. Doesn't really have good run stopping skills. Needs to go to a team/system like the Patriots where he'll be used to his potential. If the Jets or Giants take him they'll use him as a one high safety and he'll struggle.
One high safety when we have x McKinney? You sound dumb man.
Nice try tho he’s a giant 😚
A jack of all traits but a master of none is still always better then a master of 1
Wrong
Let's pray he falls to Minnesota at #12 , seems like the perfect Harrison Smith replacement and can learn from him before eventually taking over the Defense
Hello from the future…he plays everywhere well
But what about tyron Mathew? He didn't look to be a great nfl safety. But look at him now.
A slower Taylor Mays
love kyle hamilton hate he plays for the ravens tho
Hope he comes to Houston with that 3rd pick
Welcome to my ravens
