Wonderful ! An all star line up with Jim on top form. I've liked his playing since the first Kokomo album. His solo on "I Can Understand It" was a big influence on me as a guitar player. It proved to me that it doesn't always have to be a sax solo in soul/funk music. I left my home town in Kent to join a black (except me) soul/funk band based in Manchester for two years. This album has been a long time coming. A good fusion of soulful funk jazz.
My favourite Jim Mullen album. I prefer this to the sub-bebop stuff that came later. Always tasteful, always funky. Scotland’s finest. Oddly, though it gives Palladino on the cover as bassist, it really doesn’t sound like him
